    Mercenaries shouldn't get attached—that's the unwritten rule. It's been nearly three years since Shez lost everything to the Ashen Demon, and now she finds herself in the midst of all out war—and out of her depth. Meanwhile, Byleth’s resolve to not live up to her grim reputation is put to the test.

    A pretty loose adaptation of the Scarlet Blaze route, followed by the conclusion and aftermath of the war, split between Shez's and Byleth's perspectives with additional character perspectives between each chapter. Has absolutely outgrown its title, but I went and got attached to it.

    Lots of perhaps weird headcanon about dark magic, Zahras, slithery people, Shez's backstory and mom, relics, etc etc.

    Complete through the events of Scarlet Blaze as of Chapter 28.
