Chapter Text
His throat burned. His chewed-at fingernails clawed at the sludge that was slowly suffocating him. It reached deep in his mouth and, despite his best efforts, wouldn't leave.
The edges of his vision started going dark, his head spinning. The pen that had slipped into his sleeve when he was grabbed had started stabbing hard into his arm.
"Don't worry kid. It'll all be over soon"
The least comforting words he could've heard at this point. And probably the last. What a sad end for a sad little life, Izuku.

The sludge around him loosened as the villian's voice quivered slightly.
"Would you mind letting that boy go?" A posh voice echoed through the underpass his end capture rescue was happening in.
One of his arms was free. He slid the pen down it, into his hand and clicked it on.
"What boy?"
Is this villian that stupid? Whoever that is can clearly see something happening.
Yet he still took his opportunity. Knuckles turning white, he gripped the pen and stabbed it straight into an eye. A screech echoed loudly in his ears as he dropped to the ground.
A stray rock lodged itself in the side of his head, everything suddenly going black.

Slowly he blinked his eyes open to the sound of far away ambulances and a chirpy voice reassuring someone? He attempted to sit up (when did he get onto the floor?) but a white paw stopped him.
"Careful there, we wouldn't want you to get more hurt"
He blinked, moving a hand up to rub at his eyes, to see who had saved him.
"Thank you for saving me mister-" His eyes finally cleared. "Nedzu! The Intelligence Hero! I can't believe I'm really seeing you! I'm sorry for wasting your time-"
"Don't worry about that, I did what any hero would, you aren't a waste of time. In other words, an ambulance is on the way, you've been out for about 6 minutes." His voice was soft but his smile was slightly creepy...
Yet Nedzu. The Nedzu. Had waited with him while he was unconscious for 6 whole minutes!
Now, he was alone with him, probably for another few minutes so he might as well ask him the most important question he had. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Can- Do you think someone without a quirk can be a hero?"
The mammal's head tilted to the side as he smiled wider.
