Summary:

As days passed in his prison, Allen just wanted to get his life back. He wanted his friends and family to stop looking at him like he'd kill them at any moment. Allen blamed the Fourteenth for the hardships that came upon him as soon as he was awakened. However, as time passes, they start to learn more about each other. They begin to realize that they have more in common than they are willing to admit, with the addition of an old acquaintance pushing them in the right direction.
....
"Why do you choose to drive me mad?" Allen asked.

"It is not my purpose to drive you mad. My aura is not fit for those who wield Innocence," The Fourteenth explained, "It will continue to drive you mad until we are separate."

"How do you plan on doing that? And even if you did have a plan, why should I trust you?" Allen asked.

"I saved you once already."

"Once is not enough to remove everything you put me through!"

"Allow me to show you! Allow me to convince you that I am not the person you make me out to be!"

Chapter Text

When the Fourteenth awoke from his slumber within Allen, he noticed that slowly everyone was looking at him differently. They were treating him as if he was a traitor as if he was one move from killing them and destroying all that they have worked for. It was unpleasant to think about, that the people he thought were family were turning their backs on him over something so trivial.

He was locked away and shunned. His Innocnece sealed with talismans in order not to hurt anyone but worse of all not to protect himself from danger. The Black Order wants him to suffer for something he had no way of stopping. It wasn't like it was his fault that the Fourteenth chose him as his host, right?

Days passed which turned into weeks which turned into months and before he knew it, it had been a year since he was locked up. He was grateful that Link would come and visit him, as well as Kanda with his moody, grumpy self. He knew that Link was just ordered by the Director to keep an eye on him, however with Kanda. He just didn't know why he would visit someone whom he claimed he hated.

Allen was currently staring up at the wall above him with his trusted companion Timcanpy sealed a few feet away from him. If he had the power to help his friend he would but he was useless at the moment.

"This is all your fault. You know that, right?" Allen said, blankly staring up at the ceiling.

"The fault does not lie with me, child."

"Oh, really? You are the reason they treat me like dirt."

"I did not have any control over what had happened. Just like you have no control of what is happening now."

"I did! You had to ruin everything!"

"I had nothing to do with this! Do not blame me!"

"Do not blame you?" Allen laughed but it sounded hollow. He sat up and pressed his back against the wall behind him, staring at the door blankly. "Ever since the Millennium Earl announced to everything that the Fourteenth resided inside me everyone had been on high alert! As if I would hurt them at any given moment! How is that not your fault? Your existence alone ruined my life!"

"..."

The silence was all Allen heard. He was angry, upset, and hurt. The reason for his misfortune was the being that lay inside him. At any given moment it could take control of his body and take his life with a snap of a finger.

"I won't do that."

"Sure you won't. You've done it before so how can I trust you?" Allen asked. Before Nea could respond, the door opened revealing Link with a bowl of steaming hot rice. He gave Allen a small smile, closing the door behind him.

"Hey."

"Link!" Allen excitedly said. Link chuckled, stepping forward in order to give Allen the food.

"From Jerry?" Allen asked.

Link nodded.

Allen sighed in return, grabbing the chopsticks and digging in. If he had to trust anyone with his food, it would be Jerry. The man would never lay harm on Allen even if his life was in danger.

"Tell him I said thanks next time you see him!"

Link nodded with a smile.

"Jerry was making a scene about the food. He almost fought the Director because he asked Jerry to lace the food. Jerry was livid to learn that and put the director in his place. I'm surprised the man isn't fired."

Allen laughed after swallowing a mouthful of rice. "Would you imagine Jerry leaving the Order? As much as the higher-ups preach about respect and all that useless shit. When it comes to Jerry it's automatically a pass." Allen stated.

"I guess you're right," Link laughed. He looked outside the cell window. The moon was high in the sky.

"It's getting late. I wanted to visit you before I hit the sack." Link opened the cell door, turning around for a second to ask, "See you tomorrow?"

Allen smiled sadly with a nod, "Not like I can go anywhere."

Link sadly returned the smile before leaving the jail cell. Allen watched as the door shut and locked behind him. He placed the bowl of half-eaten rice down next to him. Suddenly not hungry anymore.

"Allen."

Allen closed his eyes, trying hard to ignore the Forutheenth's voice.

"Allen!"

"What!" Allen snapped.

"Something dangerous is coming your way!"

"Yeah, whatever."

"Listen to me! You will get us both killed if you refuse my help!"

"For both our sakes, let's hope it only kills you."

Suddenly the door to his room opened. Allen watched as a man with round glasses and a trench coat walked in announcing himself as a doctor. Allen narrowed his eyes, every hair on his neck standing up. He could hear the pleas of the Fourteenth to help him, to switch with him but Allen refused.

"Hello, Mr. Walker I am here to get rid of a pest that resides within you." The man took multiple steps until he was standing before Allen who pushed himself back against the old, wet, dirty wall of the prison he was in.

"Stay away!"

"I'm sorry Mr. Walker but we must combine to allow the Heart to destroy the Noah within you. Please bear with me. " Kneeling down, the man placed his hands on either side of Allen's face, white tendrils, almost feather-like erupted everywhere. Allen's skin changed to a darker color. The color of umber. His eyes turned gold as his body erupted in pain.

"Don't worry, as soon as we merge the sooner the Fourteenth will finally disappear!"

The pain was so bad that Allen couldn't hear anything but his screams.

"Allen! Let me take control! The pain will stop!"

Allen could barely hear the fourteenth inside him. The pain clogged up most of his senses, but he still could hear what the fourteenth had to say. Closing his eyes he let out another piercing scream.

"Accept me as a part of you, Mr. Walker, the change will be much smoother."

"Help... you... or... die..."

"FINE, DAMN IT! TAKE IT AWAY!" Allen screamed out as a burning shot all over his body, then suddenly he wasn't hurting anymore. The pain wasn't suffocating him. Burning him.

"Rest. I'll take care of everything."

"T-Thank y-you,"

As the Fourteenth felt Allen finally pass out from all the pain within his consciousness, he went to work to rid himself of the pain the doctor was inflicting on him.

"Damn you! Leave this child's body alone!" The Fourteenth used his dark matter, coating Allen's body with his. The darkness disintegrated the tendrils around him into dust, making the other scream in agony. The Fourteenth finally pushed back, making the other fall to his knees in pain, clutching his head in pain. Panting, the Fourteenth used his power to destroy the seals off his arm, flexing his fingers as it was released.

"Damn it that hurt! Hell!" The Fourteenth grunted, moving Allens' body so now he was Kneeling before Timcanpy, destroying the seals that held the golden golem.

"Happy to be free I see," The Fourteenth laughed, watching as Tim shrunk and flew up to Allens' cheek, nuzzling him.

"Let's get the hell out of here." Tim flew over him, which he took as a sign that the golden ball was agreeing with him.

"I won't let you escape! I will merge with the Heart and destroy you for good!" The Doctor screeched, turning into this creature, white and cracked in places. His eyes were green while where the white color should be was a blood-red color.

"Who the hell are you?" The Fourteenth asked, backing away from the creature that now stood before him.

"My name is Apocryphos! And I shall rid the world of you damned pest!"

"I won't allow you to destroy this body!" The Fourteenth sneered, tapping into all the strength he has, and dispersing an energy blast that pushed Apocryphos against the cell walls, breaking it and creating a hole. The Fourteenth could hear the Orders alarm blast in the night as he started running. He got away as far as he could from that creature.

"Well, what do we have here? Seems like Shounen didn't need any help escaping." A voice said somewhere from above him.

"Tyki," a younger voice whined this time from somewhere on his left side. "I told you Allen will get out on his own."

"Will you two stop hiding and show yourselves!" The Fourteenth demanded.

"Sheesh alright, when did you get so feisty."

Two figures stood before him. Two figures that he knew too well and one that he owed an apology to.

"There isn't much time! I need Road to open her door in order to get us all out of here before that monster catches up to me!" The fourteenth stated, exhaustion spreading into his bones.

Road was looking at Allen with wide eyes, ones that were filled with tears while Tyki was looking at Allen with confusion.

"Why are you being so rude, Allen?" Tyki asked arms crossed over his chest. Beside him, Road had opened her door just as the Fourteenth had asked.

"Not Allen. Fourteenth. Will explain when safe." The Fourteenth's words started to turn into slurs. Road was getting worried as she walked forward, placing a gentle palm on Allen's cheek. The fourteenth leaned against her, his golden eyes filled with regret and sorrow. He could feel Allen's body begin to grow heavy from exhaustion and pain. He was injured, and in pain both mentally and physically.

"Nea..." Road said, tears running down her cheeks. Nea smiled sadly.

"Hello, my Sweet Nightmare," Nea replied. That was all Road needed to know that her Uncle. The one who betrayed the family, the one who was an outcast, the one who destroyed them, and the one whose whole life was ruined because of his brother.

"Mind if we get to safety? I will explain everything." Nea asked moving away from Roads warm, familiar palm. Nea knew the action hurt the Sweet Nightmare, however, he really needed to get Allen to safety. To get them all to safety and away from that monster.

"C'mon Tyki let's get him somewhere safe!" Road urged, walking through her door with determination as she wiped away her tears, while Tyki followed close behind, confused and concerned for his niece. He could hear the sound of yelling, a horrible cry from a strange creature but he didn't stay long to see who it was. That screech sent a shiver down his spine.

Nea, Tyki, and Road made it through the door just in time to watch the door shut on the monster. Nea dropped down to his knees, holding his head in pain. His eyes flickered from gold to silver and his skin turned back to its original color. He screamed in pain, the body rejecting him, fighting his very presence.

"Nea!"

He heard Road scream and felt hands on his shoulders as he let out one final scream of pain before he felt Allens' body shut down.

I'm sorry, my Sweet Nightmare. I'll see you very soon and apologize for what I have caused. For now, Allen and I shall rest and regain our strengths. Wait for us.
