Summary
Joe should probably feel worse but he’s long past talking himself out of what he wants no matter how pathetic Chris whimpers after his sister. Precious only when belonging to another— tough luck, Junior. Dottie’s not awake under his arm steering her back to bed, but she doesn’t stumble and isn’t as mechanical as Joe thought sleepwalking would be. He wonders what the boundaries of her consciousness are and how to go about testing them as well as himself in keeping her asleep.
