Work Text:
Gunwook hates his office job, being someone who likes being active and working out sitting on a chair and staring at a screen from 9 to 5 wasn’t very ideal but it’s a good job nonetheless and it's good money this way he can spoil his husband all he wants.
Gunwook and Taerae got married 2 years ago, and to say Gunwook loves him is an understatement he truly is so deeply in love with Taerae but what makes this all hard is the fact that Taerae is gorgeous…he is very attractive whether it comes to his looks his face his voice or his charming attitude Taerae caught everyone's eye and Gunwook was one of those people.
He still recalls vividly that day in high school when he first met Taerae the way he smiled at him and told him to come to him whenever Gunwook had any questions.
He still remembers every scent Taerae wore every outfit he put together every smile he gave, people often call him lucky, and they are right despite being together for over a decade Gunwook still doesn’t understand why Taerae chose him of all people but in the end he chose him, Taerae chose Gunwook.
When he first introduced Taerae to his family they were all immediately charmed, it’s no surprise that his boyfriend at the time did dial up the charming factors but even if he didn’t his family would have been sold they started to constantly remind Gunwook of how lucky he was and that he needs to marry Taerae immediately and Gunwook was so happy that his family accepted Taerae with such open arms and he knew sooner or later he would propose to Taerae.
But as much as he is grateful that his husband is strikingly beautiful and gorgeous it also comes with its disadvantages, you see Gunwook is very jealous, and because Taerae is the beauty that he is other men seem to think the ring on his finger is nothing but an accessory openly flirting with him when Gunwook is standing right there but its okay because Taerae never gave them what they wanted, he would always give them a polite smile flash his ring and hook his arm around Gunwook.
So, reading the company sent an email inviting him and a plus one to a company party Gunwook must sit back and think, should he bring his husband to a place possibly full of drunk men who would nonstop flirt with his husband? Would it make Taerae uncomfortable? But Taerae loves parties and Gunwook has been wanting to show him his workplace and introduce him to some of his closest coworkers.

“I'm back” Gunwook softly lets out unlocking the door of their apartment, he kneels his back to the hall and places his shoes on the rack suddenly feeling warm hands slither around his figure.
“I missed you so much, babe” Taerae whispers, as to maintain this calm soft energy floating around them.
And Gunwook is recharged, healed, and cured of all his ailments. He turns to the shorter man finally looking at his beautiful face cheeks pink probably from the heat emitting from the stove because when they first started living together Taerae had decided that he would be the one cooking dinner and Gunwook would oversee breakfast since he wakes up super early for his runs.
And he smells good.
Gunwook and Taerae magnetically pull into a hug, Taerae always feels like home, and Gunwook wants to forever remain like this holding and feeding from each other’s warmth.
“I made us dinner let's eat.” Taerae lets out softly giving Gunwook a quick kiss on the cheek taking off the taller black jacket to hang it up next to his bright red one.
And they sit on their orange dining chairs chatting about their days and how exhausting work was.
it might be pretty clear from the aforementioned orange chairs, but Taerae was the one to design their house they did go shopping together but Gunwook was never able to say no to Taerae he would turn to him with pouty lips and give him those eyes so what was he supposed to do? Gunwook has grown to love it. He loves the colors all around the house but no matter how many colorful pieces of furniture Taerae buys he would remain the most bright and shining thing in this house.
“They kept telling me to add that beat and even though I explained it 7 times, it would not work with the flow of the song they wouldn’t listen it was so annoying!” Taerae huffs.
“aren’t you supposed to be the producer here” Gunwook giggles taking his final bite of the food.
“Right??! Ugh anyways, how was your day?” Taerae is already standing up reaching for the dishes to start cleaning up and Gunwook follows.
“You already know, same same, I did get put on a project with Hanbin hyung this time around.” They are now side by side standing in front of the sink Gunwook holding the soap-soaked sponge while Taerae rinses off the plates with water “Oh hyung I forgot to tell you, we have an office party coming up would you like to be my plus one?” Taerae lets out a chuckle at Gunwook’s question “Were you planning to ask anyone else of course I’ll go”.
“And it will be so fun to see who you work with I always want to visit but I never could because of work” Taerae speaks with a pout.
So Gunwook does what every man would do with their spouse in this situation, leaving the dishes behind and making out with his pretty husband.

Taerae looks stunning.
Not that he isn’t always it's just that he is extra dressed up for this party today, unlike his usual colorful attire Taerae is in all black, with a sparkly blazer on top and a few accessories here and there It is simple he says he doesn’t want to be overdressed, But Gunwook knows all eyes are going to be on him.
They walk into the event arm-in-arm Gunwook holding onto Taerae to prevent him from getting lost in the crowd, they walk around for a bit hearing some murmurs and feeling the looks on them, it’s what Gunwook is used to he has placed a bet with Taerae that he would hear the phrase ‘you're so lucky 15 times today’ where Taerae laughed and said that 15 was a lot.
Gunwook knows he will win the bet meaning he will make Taerae go with him on a morning run.
“Gunwook ah!” Hanbin waves to him.
Gunwook leads them to where a group of 5 are standing Hanbin, his husband Hao, Gyuvin, Jiwoong, and his boyfriend Matthew.
“You must be Taerae! We've heard so much about you.” Gyuvin reaches his hand out enthusiastically and Taerae takes it wearing his most beautiful grin at the knowledge of his husband's obsession with him “Good things I hope”.
They go around the circle with introductions and a few small chats, the conversation flows easily, and because Gunwook has kept count he got 2 ‘you’re so Lucky’s so far one from Hao and one from Matthew who seem to be bonding very tightly with Taerae talking like they’ve known each other for decades.
“well well well..who do we have here?” Gunwook knows this voice, he knows it too well.
“Boss, this is Taerae, my husband.” Gunwook starts off his arms slithering around Taerae’s waist “Hyung, my boss-”
“Lee Kyung-min” Gunwook gets cut off, Kyung-min reaching for Taerae’s hand.
“Husband, you say?” his boss enquires in a mocking tone to be detected and Taerae is no idiot, so he notices “of two years and boyfriend of 10!”.
Kyung-min is an open book, he is a man with money and a huge number of ex-spouses, and it's clear he finds Gunwook’s husband attractive and thinks he has a right to be a dick in front of Gunwook and flirt with Taerae.
Taerae not wanting to be rude and to leave a bad impression on Gunwook’s boss just laughs on multiple occasions, Kyung-min tries to get Taerae alone, but Taerae does not move from Gunwook’s side.
It's only when Taerae has left for the bathroom that he comes back stomping enraged and pulling Gunwook away from whatever conversation he was having with Gyuvin.
“Can we leave now please?” Taerae says looking around.
“Are you okay?” Gunwook can tell Taerae is already distraught, so he scraps off the need for an answer his hand on Taerae’s back to lead them outside.
He is about to wave off his co-workers when Kyung-min rounds the corner nose bleeding clearly drunk out of his mind.
“YOU BITCH- “he shouts pointing an accusing finger at Taerae, everyone is looking now, “you think just because I came onto you that you’re the shit??! I don’t even want you or your loos- “
Smack, Gunwook slaps him where a similar, yet smaller handprint is already imprinted; Taerae’s go figure.
“let’s just go Gunwook” Taerae is holding on to the back of his shirt facing the ground.
If Gunwook didn’t prioritize Taerae he would be on top of Kyung-min knocking the shit out of him right now but he leaves everyone clattering around to help Kyung-min off the ground to make his way to the car.
They drive in silence, maybe it’s the shock? But Gunwook has learned to not bombard Taerae with questions and wait till the older has his thoughts articulated and ready to pour.
But instead of driving them home, Gunwook heads to the beach where he and Taerae sit and watch the waves move and splash around.
“I'm sorry” Taerae breaks the silence a tremble in his voice, Gunwook knows this is a sign that he is about to cry.
He knows Taerae, He has practically studied him what each smile meant, what every tone meant.
And his heart never fails to break at this scared troubled tone.
“What happened babe” Gunwook holds him in his hands close to his chest and heart because he also knows that Taerae hates anyone seeing him cry.
“I tried to be nice I really did, but he kept coming onto me and being an asshole, I know I put your job at stake I’m really sorry” Taerae sobs out.
Oh, his sweet caring Taerae “Hyung” Gunwook holds Taerae’s face in his hand meeting his eyes “fuck the job, none of it matters you're all that matters to me, okay?”
Taerae’s eye must sting because he blinks hard and Gunwook chuckles and blows on his eyelids…Taerae relaxes sobs calming down.
“And if anything, I bet he is the one getting fired, the higher-ups saw his outburst…I don’t regret hitting him, he deserved at least that, even though I wanted to beat him up more” The last part comes out in a mumble.
Taerae giggles his eyes still closed, and he remains beautiful the tears streaks down his face, his damp lashes resting on his cheek, Gunwook leans down to kiss his forehead, his cheeks, and his closed lids.
“I love you” he whispers with his forehead to Taerae’s, something only for his husband to hear something not to be heard by the waves or the moon.
Another tear streams down Taerae’s face, this time not out of rage or anger or trouble, but because he feels genuinely loved and supported…he opens his eyes to finally meet Gunwook’s.
“I love you more” Taerae closes the gap between them, entangling their lips together the sound of their hearts beating loud competing with the crashing waves.

“How did it go with HR?” Taerae says as soon as Gunwook steps into their apartment, Gunwook kept reminding him to not feel guilty if anything did happen because he was justified.
Still, Taerae would feel bad if Gunwook lost his job.
Gunwook takes his husband into a hug.
“Gunwook you're scaring me!” Taerae hits his chest weekly but indulges in the hug.
“Can’t I hug my husband first before telling him the good news?” Gunwook fakes an annoyed huff his head resting on Taerae’s.
Taerae moves to look at Gunwook quizzically “he got fired, and...”
“And?” Taerae tilts his head more resembling a curious puppy.
“They gave me a week’s paid leave so I can spend it with you!” Gunwook hugs back into Taerae tighter this time lifting him off the ground while Taerae screams to put him down simultaneously laughing.
“Turns out this wasn’t his first offense, and he was given multiple warnings, so making a scene in front of the higher-ups did it” Gunwook continues taking off his jacket, placing it next to Taerae’s…like always.
“Go figure” Taerae grumbles taking Gunwook’s hand and leading him to their orange dining room chairs where the food is set on the green table.
They talk about Kyung-min and how annoying he was, Taerae’s job groceries...in their cozy space.
Gunwook may be glad that Taerae chose him, but Taerae will forever be grateful because he found Gunwook.
