Chapter Text

“Can I kiss you?”

Leone fell down.

***

It was after five months of being friends that Leone accepted, he was in love with Diavolo. It wasn’t like he was trying to fall in love. They met, they clicked, Leone tried to make other friends, but he didn’t, and he was spending all his free time with Diavolo. Maybe he should have tried harder, but it wasn’t like it was easy making friends when everyone was in their own friend group or whatnot. It wasn’t like Diavolo gave him a reason to make other friends. Which was surprising, the man was the world’s biggest paranoid introvert but, he still made a point of hanging out with him. Back in Naples Leone was always the one making plans with his friends. But here, it was a balance between them.

Unfortunately, Leone couldn’t stop fantasizing about their wedding, their cottage in the woods with twelve cats. Yes, it was a stupid fantasy but it didn’t stop him from naming all twelve cats. And writing poems about them. Nor did he stop imagining Diavolo hanging up said poems in their cottage. They weren’t even good poems.

Now Leone was rational, he knew that there was no way in hell that Diavolo was going to get into a committed relationship. He was far too secretive for something like that. So, Leone spent time with him valuing every moment while praying that his feelings would go away.

Which was what he was doing right now, staring at the stars, silently praying. Maybe it would be more helpful if he wasn’t sitting on top of Diavolo’s truck, right next to him. It was hard to even focus on the stars with him right there.

“Can I kiss you?”

Leone fell off the hood of the truck.

“Is the idea of kissing me that bad?” No, it wasn’t, that’s the problem.

“I’m just surprised, it’s a weird thing to ask,” said Leone climbing back on the truck.

“Well, in truth, I want to avoid kissing at all costs, but I could get in a situation where I have to kiss somebody, and I need to be prepared.”

“The point of kissing is because you like the person not preparing for a hypothetical situation.”

“You don’t want to kiss?”

“I never said that,” said Leone digging his own grave for some reason.

“Are you alright with me kissing you?”

“I mean sure but are you alright with me kissing you?”

“That’s a stupid question.”

“I’m just saying you should kiss someone you like-”

Diavolo crashed his lips against his. One hand was threaded through Leone’s sliver hair pushing him towards him. Despite the roughness Leone never felt safer kissing someone. In every way kissing Diavolo felt right. But too soon Diavolo pulled back.

“How normal was that?” Diavolo asked.

“It was good.”

“How does it compare to other people you kissed?”

“You’re one of the better people I’ve kissed.”

There was a moment of silence before Diavolo asked, “Am I above average?”

“Sure.”

“God damn it!”

“You can’t seriously want to be a bad kisser.”

“If the average person is a bad kisser, I want to be a bad kisser.”

“Nobody is going to kiss you and think damn that was good, I’m now going to stalk this guy.”

“You never know what will cause somebody to stalk you.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

Leone stared at the stars. They were beautiful but his mind was too busy replaying the kiss for Leone to appreciate them. His heart was never letting that image go.
