Gawyn opened his mouth to reject the offer, but he saw movement out of the corner of his eye. He whipped his head around to look, and panic overtook him as he realized there was an arrow headed straight towards him, too fast and now too close for him to jump out of the way in time—
The arrow bounced off something an inch away from him and fell harmlessly to the ground.
Gawyn stared at it, bewildered. It was as if there was an invisible wall in front of him, which the arrow had struck. How…?
He turned to glare at al’Thor, skin crawling at the realization that saidin was being used right next to him. “Stop doing that,” he said.
Al’Thor was staring at him, with something in his face Gawyn couldn’t quite read. “That wasn’t me,” al’Thor said quietly.
