“No,” Dan shook his head, despite the plaster on his face possibly indicating otherwise. He reached up to touch the makeshift bandage, aware of how suspicious it must have looked. “It's not what you think,” he hastened to add, “l got into a scrap with one of those things, but I made sure it didn't bite me.”
Jaekyung's gaze didn't waver, scanning Dan from head to toe as if searching for any sign of infection – or deceit.
“Better be true,” his voice was a low growl, more a warning than a statement. “This city is crawling with those monsters. One mistake, one bite, and you're done.”
