Chapter Text
“Lilith,” he pants from under her, red eyes wide as they stare into her. She grins, moving one of the hands holding her up above him to his cheek, cupping it.
“Yes?” She grins, licking her lips. Her husband follows the movement with his eyes, sharp teeth pulling at his lipstick stained lips.
“It..was..uh..” He mumbles, hands squeezing her waist, thumbing at her dress. She snorts, using her free hand to wipe at some of the black lipstick off of his cheek, smiling as his eyes follow the movement. “..Please?”
She hums, leaning until her chest is against his, moving a knee in between his legs. He grunts at the movement, claws scraping at the black night dress of hers. “Please what, Luci?”
His warm breath tickles her hand still on his face, eyes full of lust and love. It’s a look she’s seen many times before, but she finds herself falling for it all over again. Day after day she finds herself falling for him.
She never stops falling.
“You know what I want,” He grumbles out, tilting his hips so that she can feel him against her knee, only the fabric of his underwear covering his admiration for her.
She leans in, biting his neck, smiling at the groan he gives her as she stays in place, sucking the slightly sweaty and warm skin. She pulls up just slightly, to blow a breath of air against his ears. “Tell me.”
The door slams open, and Lilith curses, immediately rolling off of Lucifer, while he huffs, pulling their bedsheets over his body. He grumbles, pouting before turning to the side, as if trying to hide the fact his ears and cheeks still turned red when he was embarrassed.
“Mom!” Lilith hears Charlie yell, before their kid is scrambling up into bed, eyes wide.
“Shhh, Darling.” She shushes her daughter, snickering when Lucifer just whines quietly, kicking his legs against the sheets as if he was still a child. “Your Dad’s trying to sleep.”
“But it’s an emergency!” Charlie cries out, causing Lilith to sit up at attention. Charlie grabs onto her nightgown, tugging her forward. “I can’t find Razzle!”
Lilith smiles, letting her fingers trail through her daughter's hair. She pets the silky strands, before cupping her daughter's face. “Do not fret, Dear. Your father can call him at once.”
Lucifer tilts his head slightly, face still pink, breath a little uneven. He glares from where the blankets are pulled up to his chin. “Give…Give Daddy a moment and I’ll call him, okay Char-Bear?”
Lilith snorts, fighting the teasing smile that forms onto her face. Lucifer notices, glaring at her as he pouts. “I don’t know why Mommy won’t do it though..”
Lilith wipes away her daughter's tears, the ruby eyes of her daughter slightly rimmed in red from crying. Charlie looks up, tilting her head when Lilith speaks. “Mommy is tired, Dad.”
“Really?” Lucifer grumbles, sighing as he wipes at his face. “Could've fooled me.”
Lilith lets her fingers pull into the temperature of ice, without the formation of it, before she pokes her husband in the back. He yelps at the freezing temperature, turning and glaring at her. Lilith just laughs. “Get a move on, Luce.”
He grumbles, snapping his fingers. Razzle and Dazzle appear in a golden light, the small goats flying in confusion for a moment.
“Razzle! Dazzle!” Charlie squeals, moving away from her hands to jump at the small goats. The two twins jump on top of her, letting their faces rub against Charlie’s cheeks in excitement. Charlie giggles, letting her fingers trail against the fur around their faces.
Lilith smiles, shaking her head in fondness.
Lucifer just huffs. “Useless things. Can’t even stay with her.”
“Dad!” Charlie yells, voice small but angry. Lilith snorts again, hiding her face when Charlie glares at her before placing her hands on her hips. “You hurt their feelings! Say sorry.”
Lucifer grimaces, glancing at her. Lilith just shakes her head in answer, watching with thinly veiled amusement. “I…You’re right. I’m sorry. Razzle. Dazzle.”
Charlie smiles, before moving to get off the bed. “Good. Is it time for breakfast now?”
Lucifer leans towards the goats when Charlie isn’t paying attention, eyes becoming completely red. “You better not lose her again you—”
Lilith rolls her eyes, interrupting him. “Yes, Charlie, Dear. Let’s go. Your father can come down for breakfast in a moment.”
“Okay!” Charlie smiles, pushing off the bed with a quiet thud. Lilith yawns, moving to follow her. Lucifer grabs at her wrist, and she raises an eyebrow.
He pouts, pink lips still slightly stained from her makeup from last night—easy to see in the dawning light of the room. “Lily….”
“No,” She laughs, letting her nails scratch at his bed head for a moment before letting go. “Perhaps tonight if you’re good.”
She pushes off the bed, fixing her nightgown as she runs her fingers to fix some of the stray strands from her hair.
“You’re such a tease.” He grumbles, but his eyes are bright, licking his lips.
“You love it.” She grins, tossing her hair over her shoulder. “Be down in ten, Luce. I’m hungry too.”
She opens the door to follow Charlie, closing the door. She barely makes out a groaned, “ Fuck.” before she makes her way down to the kitchen.
What a way to start the day, huh?
Chapter 2: icarus
Summary:
Lilith knew that falling from Heaven hadn't been pretty.
But she didn't know that Lucifer was still hurting from their mistakes.
Chapter Text
“You can't keep doing this, Dear.” Lilith reprimands, her arm tightening over her Husband’s shoulders when he leans into her body even more.
Lucifer sucks in a deep breath, the sound harsh and too loud for a simple breath. “I’m..I’m fine.”
“It’s nothing to be ashamed about.” She says firmly. Lucifer grunts, sweat building up on his forehead with pain.
It’s been happening a lot more often over the years, she’s noticed. It used to be that every once in a while he would ask for a massage, big, ruby eyes glancing up at her as he wiggled his eyebrows. He would make an innuendo or two about her “cold touch,” and she would give in, letting her fingers trail and squeeze at the hardened muscles of his back.
But then it became more frequent. After a day where he was flying once his wings had come back in, he had stumbled over his feet. It had only been her quick reflexes that had caused her to catch him. He had gotten up soon after that, running away—-causing her to not see him until that evening.
But now? Now it was getting dangerous. He had told her about the back pains, the way it sometimes felt like fire was still licking his backside, still painting his wings to ash. He wasn’t sure why, and neither was she.
It was only until she had asked a sinner who had been a doctor in their life that she had gotten an answer.
“Could be phantom pains—whoever this person you’re talking about—-could be imagining it. Or it could be real. The human—well, the demon body could still be damaged. Could be an internal type of pain like a slipped disc in his spine, and could cause the limb or body to become sore and inflamed after heavy lifting or overuse.”
It made sense. They had fallen down for what felt like eons. She had watched his tearful face as he cried on the way down, had let the flames lick at her face, and arms and—-
Well.
It just made sense when she thought of it.
She’s shaken out of her thoughts when Lucifer stops, leaning his short body underneath her arm, face pulled into a grimace where it hides near her chest. She uses her free hand to pull his hat off, letting it fall to the floor as she lets her fingers trail through his hair. He sighs into her touch, leaning his head into her fingers.
She lets her normally dormant powers come to the surface, her body cooling at the touch. He leans in further, mumbling a quiet, “thanks.”
She hums, letting her ice-cold fingers soak into his hairline. “This can’t go on.”
Lucifer freezes, but she shushes him. He glances up at her, face wary. “I told you—“
“No,” she growls, not feeling like letting his ego get away with this any longer. “Just as you do not like seeing me in pain, I do not like seeing you in pain. It’s not even the fun kind.”
He waggles his eyebrows at her words, grinning despite the slight twitch in his face showing that he was still in pain. “Lily—“
She sighs, kicking open their bedroom door in annoyance. Lucifer quiets at the action, leaning his head further against her breasts, eyes closed. She guides him through the room, closing the door. If Lucifer did not want anyone to see this, then she’ll make sure no one sees him like this. His trust was fragile. She would not break it.
She places him against the bed, and he groans, rolling over onto his stomach. Golden dust flits around his clothes, before his back is bare—pale, smooth, scarred skin becoming out in the open.
She lets her temperature drop, her fingers becoming cold. He shivers at the touch, pushing his back into her fingers. She kneads at his muscles, ignoring the sighs and winces of both pain and pleasure. She’s quiet as she works, moving so that her knees are on either side of his slim back. She continues her ministrations, stopping when he lifts his head.
“What…” He whispers, glancing up at her with ruby eyes, before glancing away. His blonde hair that is normally styled up falls into his face messily, making him look like he used to, before Hell. “What do I do?”
She hums. “Elaborate, Luce. What are you asking for help with?”
He sucks on his tongue, sharp teeth flashing before finding their way into his lips. She raises an eyebrow when he glances back over at her shyly. “For this. My back or whatever. What can I even do? I’m not taking drugs, I refuse—”
“You don’t have to.” She interrupts him, her fingers pressing harsh on his sides, rolling out the knots that had formed over time. His skin is slightly raised from where her hands touch, pink inflamed scars forming almost slight indents into his skin. They are jagged and long, and she winces at the sight. She doesn’t let him see her anger and sadness at the sight.
It was not his fault they had fallen. And it was not his fault that his wings had burned as they fell down to Hell.
She pulls back for a moment. “A cane.”
He sits up straighter, turning slightly so that he can look over his shoulder at her. “A cane? No.” He shakes his head. “No. I don’t—-They’ll know.”
She tsks. “They won’t if you play it up. Use it even on days where your back doesn’t hurt. Use it in that dramatic fashion I know you to have. Dance with it, sing with it. Whatever the hell you wish. And then on days when you need it, you can use it and find me and I can massage your back.” She tilts her head, watching as his eyes become brighter, taking in the idea she had proposed. “How does that sound?”
He hums, tilting his head back and forth. “I guess that makes sense…”
She snorts. “So you’ll get one?”
He huffs. “Yeah. I can.”
She smiles, rubbing his back slowly up and down. He grins, pushing his back into her hands. “Good. Would you like me to order one made for you? Or will you create it?”
He sighs at her touch, and she lets her normal temperature come back to her, hands regaining the warmth they had lost. He answers after a moment of her hands just squeezing his back, nails trailing up and down up the expanse of his back.
“I think I’ll create it myself. Maybe I can--hm.” He crosses his arms, leaning his chin as he faces the bedrest. She watches as he starts to mumble, his voice a mere whisper.
She lets him continue his quiet rant to himself, moving so that she’s laying next to him. He turns his head, letting his moving lips touch her cheek absentmindedly, before he continues to mumble, papers and a pencil forming under his arms. He picks the pencil up and sits up slightly, writing down his rapid thoughts.
She smiles as he continues to doodle up images of cane ideas, tongue sticking out the further he gets into his designs. He finishes up a few minutes later with a flourish, holding up the paper. His eyes are shining, grin stretching in happiness.
“What do you think?” He asks, inching closer in anticipation.
She takes the paper out of his hands gently, raising her eyebrows. She’s always blown away by Lucifer’s creativeness, especially his ability to create things from scratch. She wasn’t the best at building things like he was—-and she was constantly blown away from his ideas.
“I like this one,” she mentions, pointing towards a cane he had drawn—a red apple for him to hold, with a sleek, black bottom half.
He looks over her shoulder, letting his head rest against the juncture between her head and shoulder. “Not the snake one?”
She glances at the snake one he had drawn. The cane curls from the bottom up, with the head of a snake with bright red eyes glowing ominously. Other than the fact that this probably fits Lucifer more, she doesn’t like it. It’s slightly impractical and the structure's integrity could affect him if he couldn’t hold himself up if he could not support his body in time.
It also reminded her of Eve. At least the apple one was more of his love of trickery and the sweet treat than the actual reminder that he had gotten with Eve as a snake.
And Lucifer had enough of that woman, thank you very much.
He married her, not that prissy woman.
“Don’t ask for my opinion if you don’t want it,” she gripes half heartedly. “You can have any of them. It’s your cane after all.”
No matter how much she may want to break that stupid snake cane.
He huffs, warm breath warming her ear. “Yes, yes. Apple it is.”
She grins to herself, letting her head lean against his. “Good.”
“Jealousy looks hot on you, Lil.” He grins, voice teasing. She rolls her eyes, pushing his face away from her body in annoyance.
“Take a nap, Lucifer. I doubt your back is fine after ten minutes of a massage.”
He sighs, not denying her claim. He wiggles under the covers after a minute, popping his head back up to glance at her in confusion. “You getting in?”
She smiles, polling the covers so that she can slide in next to him. “Yes you stupid man. Scooch over, I can’t stay long.”
“Yeah!” He whoops, moving over for her.
She grins, letting her arm curl over his back gently.
He wouldn’t get hurt anymore. Or lie to her anymore.
She would make sure of it.
Chapter 3: the three L's: love letters and lunch
Summary:
It's been one day since Lucifer has decided to take a sabbatical on being the King of Hell to spend more time with Charlie. It was hard.
But perhaps he could get used to staying home more often...
Chapter Text
Lucifer hums, bouncing Charlie in his arm, his right hand holding his pen tight as he tries to delicately write out the message he's been trying to write the past two minutes. Charlie babbles, her small fist coming in contact with his hair, pulling at the strands that don’t have gel in them yet.
“Cha—ow!” He groans, dropping his pen to pull her fingers off of his hair. He drops her sticky fingers, redirecting her hands onto his sleep shirt. She giggles, her toothless gap wide in delight. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. You’re gonna make Daddy bald by the time you’re a teenager.”
She giggles again, pulling her hands together to make soft claps. She does it a few times, and he sighs, turning back to the note he had been writing. He sticks out his tongue, trying to get the red pen to work against a stray page when the ink doesn’t come out.
“Motherfucker.” He grits out, anger raising.
He’s done this multiple times before. He doesn’t…It shouldn’t be this hard!
Charlie giggles again, leaning her head back. His grip loosens, and he yelps when she falls back. “Charlie!”
Slender hands pull and grab the child when she falls out of his hands, and he glances back, worried and scared. Lilith stands back up to her height, glancing down at him, face pulled into a frown. “Lucifer. Are you okay?”
He runs his hands through his hair, letting the strands drop onto his face. He takes in a deep breath, leaning against the kitchen counter. “ Shit.”
He watches Lilith grab a wipe from next to him, wiping at Charlie’s hands. She does it with a practiced ease—and he finds himself jealous of it, just for a moment.
“Take a deep breath Luce. This is the second day you’ve been home with her all day,” Lilith says softly, her hand dropping the wipe before running it through his hair. “It takes time to get used to. I wasn’t, nor am, perfect with her. It’s a learning curve. I had the time to watch her the first year of her life while you worked all the time. Now it's time for you to learn while I work.”
He sighs, leaning his head into her hand. Her manicured fingers trail and scrape at the base of his skull, eliciting a soft sound from the back of his throat.
“I know,” he whispers. “It’s just hard to remember sometimes. I feel like I’m too late to be parenting now. She’s more comfortable with you, and it feels like it's my fault.”
Lilith huffs, pulling at his hair slightly. He pulls off the counter, following her strength. “Quit it. You’re doing just fine. Everybody needs a break. Why don’t I go get her dressed and fed and you can finish up what you were doing?”
He whines at the feeling of her fingers dropping his hair as she steps away, hand going back to hold the back of Charlie’s head. She snorts at the sound, waiting until he nods before she moves out of the room, blonde hair flowing behind her in gentle waves.
He watches her leave for a moment, stretching his sore back. It’s been hurting a bit more since yesterday. He hasn’t told Lilith yet—doesn’t want her to know that it’s because he’s been holding Charlie more often now. She wasn’t an extremely heavy baby, but the weight pushes down on his spine, causing that ever-present burn of pain when he holds her.
He didn’t want to stop holding Charlie, though. Sp that just means he’ll have to be more careful from now on.
He rolls his shoulders before turning back to the task that he had meant to be doing earlier. The red pen has rolled onto the ground after he had dropped it in his haste to grab Charlie, and he hisses as he bends down to grab it in annoyance.
“Couldn’t have fallen on the counter, no.” He grouches, straightening his knees slowly, placing his hands on the counter to keep himself upright. “Had to fall on the ground. My life is never easy.”
He huffs, pulling the piece of paper he had been working on closer to him. He makes sure the pen is working, before he starts writing in big, bold, cursive letters.
Dear Lilith,
Charlie and I miss you already! We love you lots!
My heart yearns for the time you walk through the door.
Hurry home!
❤ Love,
Lucifer and Charlie ❤
He smiles, folding the note in half, snapping his fingers. A pink sticker of a heart closes the note, sleek and cute against the white paper. He hums, continuing to prepare her lunch, making sure to stuff her bag full of napkins and silverware.
He used to do this for her before work. She would be up all night with Charlie, making sure she was fed and happy, and would sleep in as much as she could until Charlie would awaken her once more.
So, of course, it made sense that he would make her lunch. She had been surprised, as if she was unaware of such a small act being able to be done by him. But eventually she grew into it, thanking him with a kiss to the cheek before he left if she was up already, or a kiss when he came home.
He finds he wants to continue it—finds himself enjoying the mundane routine of creating her lunch, packing it in neatly, writing out small love notes and poems. It’s something he likes doing, and he knows that Lilith likes it just as much. She’s more subtle with her affection. She doesn’t send flowers into his work like he would for her, or write detailed love poems (or…. other fun ideas).
She’s quiet in her love. She notices his sore back and massages him without question. She picks out his outfit for him daily, the clothes warm and waiting for him to wear. She folds his tie neatly, and brings home small gifts and souvenirs that she knows he’ll like.
They both love each other in the ways they know how.
Even if it means he’s busy with Charlie now—struggling to change and feed her in the morning instead of him dressing up and making lunches for them.
Perhaps that’s why he had been upset earlier. Even just staying home yesterday caused him to have very little time. He wants to at least keep the small tradition of lunches being made. If only so that she knows he loves her very much.
“Lucifer?” Lilith calls from the doorway, dressed in a beautiful black dress that reaches her midthigh. Charlie curls in her arms, chubby face peeking from where her head lays against Lilith’s neck. He turns, startling out of his thoughts at her voice. “I have to leave soon, Dear.”
“Right!” He says hurriedly, jumping to grab her lunchbox. He hears her snicker, voice light and airy. Charlie giggles as well, the two girls' voices harmonizing, and Lucifer closes his eyes for a moment, relishing in the sound.
Just for a moment.
All he wanted to hear were his girls laughing.
Just for a moment.
“Lucifer,” Lilith calls, voice wary. “If you’re too tired I can go in late…”
He grabs her lunch, shaking his head as he hops back over to her. “No, no! I meant what I said! I was thinking that you two are awfully loud when you’re making fun of me. Stop corrupting my baby, she isn’t supposed to be laughing at me!”
Lilith raises a blonde eyebrow, golden eyes glittering in the kitchen light. “Apologies. Next time I will make sure we laugh louder.”
Lucifer groans, smiling when Lilith snorts, shaking her head fondly. He raises her lunch, and she takes it, passing over the cuddly Charlie in exchange. He pets Charlie’s hair back, the blonde strands settling under his hands. He pulls Lilith in with his other hand, and she bends down to him.
He kisses her on the lips, letting his sharp teeth graze her bottom lip in a way he knows she likes. She huffs into the kiss, using her other hand to grab his neck gently, pulling him in to take the kiss deeper. He lets out a gasp in shock, his hand grabbing at her dress when she tilts his chin up for a better angle.
He goes to step in closer, breath coming out hot, but Charlie interrupts them, screaming in his arms. Lilith pulls back first, her lipstick smudged slightly from where they had kissed. She smiles ruefully, turning her head to kiss Charlie on the cheek.
Charlie sniffles, hiccups loud as she tries to calm down, hands trying to grab at Lilith.
Lucifer feels the same. Blue-balled and sad.
“Can’t you just… stay?” He whines, knowing that this was his own doing to begin with. He wanted to yank her in and tease her. He should’ve known it was him that was going to get teased instead.
She smiles, standing up and dabbing at her lips. “Once I’m settled in, I will take a whole week off.”
He sighs reluctantly, pouting. “We’ll miss you…”
Lilith smiles, pecking his lips once more before hefting her lunch box. Her golden eyes are warm, light reflecting off of them in golden hues. So different from Charlie and his red eyes.
“It is only a few short hours, Luce. Thank you for lunch.” She turns to Charlie, pulling her chubby cheeks lightly. “Be good for your crazy Daddy, alright Dear?”
Lucifer huffs, rolling his eyes. Lilith turns to him, smirking. “You too. Be a good boy and perhaps that little teasing of yours will come to fruition tonight.”
He gulps, shaking his head up and down in muted happiness. He didn’t want to open his mouth, knowing that nothing that would come out would be appropriate in front of his child.
“Bye, Luce.”
He watches her wave her manicured nails, before she’s gone. Her lunch and his heart with her.
He hefts Charlie up further into his arms, looking at the door Lilith had left through.
“I love her, Charlie, baby.” He glances down at his baby, smiling at her gummy smile. “I really do.”
