They decided to change the Ending, just like he knew that they could as he walked towards the fight with Her.
He went back a bit too much, but that's fine, they have their family with him, it was enough.

Alastor’s smile was unwavering, but his ear twitched, and there was a spike in the static that accompanied him wherever he went. “I’m sorry? I must have misheard—”
“No,” Charlie repeated, doing her best to sound authoritative. “I don’t want your deal.”’
Charlie doesn’t take Alastor’s deal when he offers her the information that could save the Hotel, in exchange for a favour owed.
