Work Text:
Nishimura Riki, Ni-ki as he prefers to be called, is a villain.
A supervillain, like the ones in the Marvel movies, except he’s very much real, and not some fictional character in a movie. A supervillain wreaking havoc upon Seoul every single day (unless it’s the weekend, because not even villains work on weekends) and causing fear because… well, why not? And also some people deserve to have their heads bashed because some people are just horrible.
In his civilian form, he looks like an ordinary high school boy with non-descript looks: dark hair and dark eyes, pale skin (because he never steps out of his home unless he has to and even then he wears hats over his face and long-sleeved hoodies), and lanky arms. No one even spares a glance at him in his boring look. Perfect for blending in when he needs to, and to avoid the police when they rush by looking for his supervillain persona.
As a supervillain, most people know him as Serpent, a villain who can shroud the entire city in shadows and dark flames. Well, maybe that’s a slight exageration, but it doesn’t matter. To say it clearly, he has both fire and shadow powers, and he’s hella skilled and a totally awesome villain.
And he looks edgy as fuck (according to himself, at least) in his villain form, with a black suit with teal accents covering him neck to toe, and his hair dyed dark red (it’s some kind of ability he gained with being a villain— whenever he changes into his villain form, his hair just kinda turns red— don’t ask him how because he doesn’t know either) and his eye colors changing into a deep golden color (yes his eyes change color too— again, he doesn’t know how).
So anyways, he is a villain and there is this superhero that he absolutely hates. A very annoying superhero named Angel— who does not resemble an angel whatsoever. A hero with brown hair and round eyes with brown eyes, wearing a khaki beret and a cream-colored coat as his hero look. Like he said, nothing like an angel.
He absolutely he hates this hero with a fiery passion. He hates how Angel stops his evil acts when they’re all justified, he hates how Angel always appears out of nowhere, he hates that he has to see Angel everyday, he hates how good looking Angel is, and most importantly, Ni-ki hates the fact that he doesn’t actually hate him.
And he also hates that this hero is his boyfriend now.
How did it even happen? How did a hero and a villain who were enemies— destined by the stars and the gods above— start being all friendly with each other and becoming friends, to suddenly lovers?
Actually… nevermind, he knows how it happened.
—
It all started with a dreary Thursday morning where it was raining ever since he opened his eyes because of his stupidly loud alarm on his phone.
Ni-ki let out a groan and rolled out of bed (quite literally so), thudding onto the floor beside his bed. He used his mattress to push himself up onto his feet, and stumbled into the connecting bathroom to wash his face.
He was soooo not a morning person. Especially since he had school and school was horrible and he hated literally every single person in the damn school building (except maybe his two close friends).
Ni-ki stubbed his toe on the edge of the cabinet under the bathroom sink, and let out a hissed curse, before turning on the faucet. Glancing in the mirror, he noted the tendrils of shadows crawling up his cheek, like black ink lines drawn on his face— a side effect when he overworked himself and used too much of his abilities.
He probably should put on a mask to hide it until it fades away on its own. It usually did. He took note to do just that, before he cupped water into his hands and splashed it into his face, letting the cool water wake him up.
Ni-ki took a few seconds to wash up, then change into his school uniform; a drab grey blazer and trouser, with a white shirt and a red tie. It was uncomfortable, and most students at his school hated it, but the school board hadn’t bothered to change it or anything.
He entered the kitchen, and glanced at the dining table where his older sister had left a note beside a pot of pumpkin soup.
Ever since their parents were murdered three years ago, Konon took the responsibility to take care of him, tackling both her job as a waitress at a local diner and as his faux-mother. Even though he was nearly eighteen years old, she still babied him.
She was busy with work most days, and Ni-ki was half glad for that because it meant he could work as a villain without her knowing. She’d probably be heartbroken to know her brother was the infamous Serprent, but he was doing it for good reasons. Just… slightly illegally. But still! Good reasons!
But if Konon were to know, he’d also have to explain his reason for starting this whole supervillain thing, and he’d rather not have to explain to her how his anger from their parents murder had triggered powers from his had-been-recessive-but-now-clearly-isn’t gene, and he decided to become a villain to save other innocent lives from being wrongfully taken.
Yeah, no.
Ni-ki plucked the note off the surface of the wooden table, reading it with his groggy, sleep-muddled brain. Even washing with cold water never helped him wake up properly.
Hey Ki!
Had an early call to the diner.
Left some pumpkin soup!
Heat it up and eat it with the toast.
It’s on the counter.
Have fun at school and don’t get into any trouble!
Konon (your sister who loves you so much)
Konon’s handwriting was messy, as if she had been in a rush. He found it slightly funny she never texted him when she had to leave early, and instead left cute notes on post-its. It was so Konon-like, and even though he pretended to hate it, secretly he didn’t know what it would be like without her notes.
Anyway.
Ni-ki eyed the pot of soup, then the loaf of white bread in its plastic packaging on the counter. He didn’t feel very hungry, but Konon would scold him if she saw he hadn’t eaten anything.
He hastily grabbed a small container and poured some of the soup into it, and dropped a few pieces of toast he ripped apart (they would become all soggy, but he didn’t care). He grabbed a plastic spoon— Konon always kept them from when they came in takeout bags— and grabbed his backpack before heading out, also not forgetting to grab a mask to hide his marks.
The best part about his shadow (and also fire) abilities was that he could still use it even in his civillian form. He could travel through shadows, hopping from one to the next— which was his favorite skill among all the other awesome things he could do.
Ni-ki subtly glanced around and noting that no one was looking, since everyone was engrossed in their phones underneath their umbrellas with the rain creating a slight mist across the streets, he closed his eyes and let himself he pulled in through the little shadows created from the lit street lamps.
Ni-ki arrived at the school, just fifteen minutes before the bell rang for homeroom. He found two boys huddled by the lockers, who looked up at him as he approached.
“Yo! Ni-ki! What’s up, man!” Jay greeted in English.
“This is Korea, so stop shouting in English because you sound like a fool.” Sunghoon smacked him in the back of the head playfully, and Jay let out a yelp.
Ni-ki laughed, shaking his head at the usual talk he walked into every morning. “You’re both fools.” He teased, opening his locker to put Konon’s pumpkin soup to eat later.
Park Sunghoon and Park Jongseong were both sorta idiots, but they were also good friends. They had been friends with him since kindergarten, and stuck with him through the years. They knew about the fact that Ni-ki was a supervillain— the most infamous one in Seoul— and they fully supported it. Who knows why— but Ni-ki certainly wasn’t about to complain because it made things easier.
Jay was a tech genius, and had full on insisted he and Sunghoon be part of his villain shenanigans, even going as far as making whole techy gadgets for him to use in his other persona. So Ni-ki had no choice but to let his friends be part of it from behind the scenes. (And maybe a small part of him was glad to have his friend be so supportive and help him.)
It was also nice because Sunghoon was studying in the medical field and could patch him up after a rough fight with the police force or from certain superheroes.
Maybe the universe was rewarding him for being only partly-evil.
“Why’re you wearing a mask? Tryna look all suspicious?” Jay chuckled, gently pulling on Ni-ki’s mask. “Or are you sick?”
He nudged Jay’s hand away. “No. My shadow marks appeared again.” Ni-ki said with a slight whine, annoyed that he had to keep a mask on when he absolitely hated them because it made him feel suffocated.
Sunghoon shook his head. “And that is why he don’t go around kicking butts and over using powers for insignificant things.”
“It wasn’t insignificant, hyung!” Ni-ki pouted. “The stupid robbers were about to take a bunch of cash.”
“Have you ever considered becoming a hero?” Sunghoon wondered.
“Nah, this kid grabbed a few bucks himself.” Jay said. “And he kicked butts last night because he didn’t want anyone else to take his place as the number one public enemy.”
“You make it sound so weird,” Ni-ki grumbled, closing his locker door. “We’re about to be late for class so stop talking about shit.”
Jay slung an arm around his shoulders and ruffled his hair. “Okay, okay, I’ll shut up now. Just be careful when you fight. Sunghoonie here isn’t skilled enough to bring you back from the dead.”
“Hey!” Sunghoon protested, jabbing Jay’s side with his elbow. But he too patted Ni-ki’s head with slightly worried eyes.
Ni-ki groaned. “Ah, hyungs. I’m fine! Don’t worry!”
He shrugged off Jay’s arm and rushed forward, glancing back at them as he did.
“I’m fine, so stop being all weird about it!”
Sunghoon and Jay’s eyes were wide.
“Wait, Ni-ki, watch out for—”
Ni-ki crashed right into someone, knocking his head with another person’s head, and falling to the ground with a startled yelp.
He hissed, rubbing his throbbing forehead. He glanced up and saw Angel standing over him… but wait, what? He wasn’t in his villain form, so why was Angel…
He blinked, and found a normal boy standing there, a student like him, with brown hair and brown eyes like Angel, but obviously not the hero. Just an ordinary boy.
Ni-ki must’ve hit his head hard to hallucinate Angel.
The other boy also was rubbing his forehead in pain, but he glanced down at Ni-ki. He offered a hand with an apologetic smile.
“Hey, sorry. Didn’t mean to bump into you.” The boy said. Ni-ki took his hand and the boy pulled him up to his feet.
“No, I should’ve looked where I was going. It was my fault,” Ni-ki laughed awkwardly. Outside of his villain persona, he was very socially awkward and he hated talking to anyone that wasn’t the two Parks or Konon.
The boy smiled— and it made cute dimples pop out and his eyes all cheerfully bright. Ni-ki blinked, momentarily blinded by the brightness.
“Still.” The boy shrugged. “Is your head okay?”
Ni-ki nodded. “Yeah. Yours?”
The brown-eyed boy nodded. “Yeah, it’s okay.”
He shot another smile, and it made his eyes crinkle up into mini crescents.
“Uhm, as sorry for bumping into you… I have… pumpkin soup.” Ni-ki blurted out.
“Oh?” The boy said, raising a questioning eyebrow. “Well, thank you, I guess?”
Sunghoon and Jay were talking to each other in hushed voices behind him.
“I think he bumped his head too hard— it must’ve knocked a screw loose.”
“Well obviously. He’s acting more idiotic than you— pumpkin soup? What’s he talkin’ about?”
“Uh— more idiotic than me?! Waz that supposed to mean?!”
Ni-ki paid them no mind and scrambled to grab Konon’s soup in the metal container. He offered it along with the packaged plastic spoon to the pretty, brown-eyed boy.
“Here,” He said shyly.
The boy took it with careful hands. “Well, thank you. It’s really fine, but I don’t want to say no to such a kind offer, so I’ll take it.” He smiled again.
“I’m Jungwon. I thought maybe you wanted to know.”
Ni-ki swallowed. “I’m Ni-ki.”
Jungwon hummed. “Ni-ki.” He repeated. “Nice name.”
He then glanced at the clock overhead. “Well, nice to meet you Ni-ki. Thanks for the pumpkin soup. I have to get to class, so…” He trailed off.
“Ah, yeah, I have to go to class too.” Ni-ki said.
Jungwon waved and headed off down the hall, and Ni-ki pointedly avoided his friends teasing looks as he sped-walked down the hall to his homeroom.
—
The next part of this whole thing of how he became lovers with Angel was when he was literally fighting him— back when they were still considering each other their enemy— in a bank vault after he stopped a few petty robbers.
Ni-ki burned the vines that Angel grew out of the ground to tie him down right as they crawled up to his feet. He whirled around and threw a punch at Angel, mentally thanking Jay for teaching him basic combat skills and for making him a gadget that could give him more agility when fighting (he could never understand Jay’s explanation of how exactly the gadget worked but it made him more agile, so he never really cared to know).
Angel gritted his teeth with furious eyes behind the mask over his eyes, and Ni-ki smirked.
“Aw, sad that I burned your precious vines?” He mocked.
Ni-ki, stop being all witty— because you’re really not!— and start fighting. Angel’s good at fighting too— in case you haven’t noticed in all these encounters with him— too many in my opinion.. But… I don’t think you care for my opinion. Jay said dryly through the earpiece that connected Ni-ki to his friends who were at Jay’s bedroom, listening to him and watching the fight through Jay’s camera drones.
(“To help you during fights!” Jay said.)
“You’re right, I really don’t.” Ni-ki agreed. “But I’m good at fighting so stop worrying, old man.”
Angel grew a giant flower to lift him higher off the ground. “Who are you talking to? You should be focused on this fight.”
“Eh, I’ll beat you anyway.” Ni-ki said. “You’re horrible at combat. Can you even win once?” He taunted.
Angel shot another vine to stop him, then jumped off his giant flower to spring onto Ni-ki. “I’ll win to stop you from your evil deeds, Serpent!” He cried out, and shot a vine to curl around Ni-ki’s arms.
He dodged it, but another grew out of the ground almost instantly to wrap around his arm. He was a little startled but didn’t let it bother him. He tried to shake it off, but it didn’t budge.
“Ha! Gotcha!” Angel said triumphantly.
“No you don’t,” Ni-ki grinned, before slipping into the nearby shadows and jumping to the shadow across the bank vault.
He popped back out to find Angel with an annoyed look. “For a pretty boy, you’re really annoying to deal with.”
Ni-ki smiled mischeviously. “Aw, did I hear that right? The hero called me pretty!”
“Your name is stupid too,” Angel continued. “Serpent? You don’t even have powers like a snake or something.”
Ni-ki huffed. “Well it sounds cool. And it’s my villain name, so shut up.”
A ringtone cut through the air, making the two of them pause. Angel then took out his phone from a hidden pocket in his coat, and he tapped on his phone, bringing it to his ear.
“You’re taking a call? Right now?” Ni-ki asked incredulously.
Medicore hero. Sunghoon snorted, his voice crackling through the earpiece. Very unprofessional.
“Sunoo hyung, not the best time!” Ni-ki heard Angel hiss into the phone. “What, of course not—”
A pause.
Then, “Jake and Heeseung hyung? You guys are there too?! No, this is not the time to be— yes! No!”
Amused, Ni-ki shot a small blast of fire past the hero, being careful not to actually hit the hero, because he wasn’t that evil to hit someone with a blast of literal fire.
Angel let out a yelp, then scowled at Ni-ki.
“—no I’m fine, just… stubbed my toe.” Angel said, struggling to make up a lie— which led Ni-ki to know that whoever Angel was on call with did not know he was a hero or that he was in the middle of a fight.
Just to be a little shit, Ni-ki called out rather loudly, “You not fighting? Too scared?”
Angel grew a flower to lift him as high as possible, nearly up to the ceiling of the vault.
“—it’s no one, just a classmate— I’m… at school—Yeah, just catching up on some assignments.” He was saying.
He’s a student? Huh. Jay said.
Ni-ki watched Angel mumble something hurriedly into his phone, before pocketing it again.
“Okay— let’s fight!” Angel said, pointing a finger at Ni-ki.
He sighed. “Why are you so set on fighting me?”
Angel gawked at him. “Uh— because you’re doing bad stuff?” He sputtered.
“What bad stuff?” Ni-ki asked patiently.
“W—Well, you’re a supervillain, and you’re in the city bank’s vault filled with money—”
“But I haven’t stole anything yet, and I wasn’t about to.” Ni-ki rolled his eyes.
“Then… what were you doing?” Angel asked slowly, eyes looking confused behind the white satin mask.
Ni-ki plopped on the ground in a cross-legged posture, at ease now that vines weren’t being grown to tie him up.
“I spotted some men in black beanies over their faces with holes for their eyes, breaking into here and grabbing cash. So I stopped them. They ran away when you arrived though.” He answered truthfully, happy Angel was asking him for once.
Ni-ki, why the hell are you sitting down? Get up, get up! Don’t let your guard down! Sunghoon scolded with Jay agreeing in the background.
Ni-ki ignored them, and chose to watch the way Angel looked thoughtful. He let his flower platform shrink so that he could stand back on the ground again.
“You stopped the robbers? But you’re not a hero… or are you?” He asked.
“Yes I’m a villain. Just not your average one.” Ni-ki smirked.
Angel eyed him with serious eyes. “So, all those mysterious cases where robbers and thugs were stopped… they were all you?”
Ni-ki shrugged. “I think.”
Angel tilted his head. “Huh.”
—
After Angel had found out that Ni-ki was doing more good stuff than actually bad, he stopped fighting with him and he also stopped attempting to stop Ni-ki, letting Ni-ki do his thing as he stopped robbers and gangsters. Sometimes, he asked Ni-ki to help him with hero things. They somehow became a duo, even though he had no idea when it had happened. It just… sorta happened.
All of a sudden, Angel was there and asking him to help him stop a heist, and he was there, agreeing to help— because why not? Angel wasn’t trying to stop him anymore, and he actually seemed nice when he wasn’t all annoyed and fighting him.
Then one day Angel told him to follow him.
Ni-ki eyed the masked boy with a weird look. “Uh, why?”
“I have something to tell you. And maybe you can tell me too.” Angel said, before beckoning him to follow.
Ni-ki was very confused, but decided he had both shadow and fire powers, and therefore could take anything that happened, and he followed after Angel.
The hero led him onto a small rooftop and perched himself on the cobble tiles. Ni-ki carefully sat next to him at a respectful distance.
“I thought we’ve been fighting alongside each other for a few months now… and you’ve been super helpful, especially since I’m such a rookie at fighting crime, and you’ve been doing that for years,” Angel started. “And we’re both sorta heroes, so I thought we could tell each other our identities. It’d be way easier to find you when I need help, you know.”
Ni-ki hummed, thinking.
He had to admit, he had been curious who it was behind the mask and who was this hero with pretty lips and fluffy brown hair and bright brown eyes behind the white mask.
“Of course, I’m not forcing you to tell me your real identity, but I want to. At this point, I think I can trust you, and I also want you to know who I am outside my hero self. So, uh, you can find me if you need to.” Angel looked like he was blushing, and his mask didn’t hide his red cheeks.
Ni-ki shrugged. “Sure. I’m not against it.”
Angel ducked his head. “I’m really trusting you not to tell anyone. Are your… friends listening in?” He asked warily.
Ni-ki shook his head. “No. They have a project for Biology so they told me they’re taking the day off from being my eyes and ears behind the scenes.”
“Biology,” Angel chuckled. “Funny. So do my friends.”
He took a deep breath. “Okay… I’m— I’m gonna take off my mask.”
Ni-ki glanced at him. “You don’t have to show me if you don’t want to—”
“No, I want to.” Angel interupted him. “I have the courage today, and I won’t do it if it’s not today. I mean, it’s not like you can be disappointed if I’m not, like, who you expect or think I look like.”
“What would I expect?” Ni-ki asked, genuinely confused.
“Right.” Angel nodded his head. “Exactly.”
His fingers brushed against the edge of his mask, almost hesitant, before he pulled off his mask. Then he glanced up and Ni-ki saw his face and—
Holy shit.
“Jungwon?!” Ni-ki gasped.
How did he not recognize him?! Sure he wore a mask over his eyes, but was that seriously all that it took to make him unrecognizable?!
Angel— no, Jungwon— blinked at him. “You… know me?”
Ni-ki nodded furiously. “Yeah! You— We bumped into each other a few months ago! In the halls! The pumpkin soup! And then you kept giving me food that you made as gifts and repaying me!”
Jungwon looked confused, before a lightbulb seemed to light up in his head.
“Oh my god— Ni-ki?!” He gasped.
Ni-ki nodded, and tugged on the string in his mind that made his villain appearance fade, so that he looked like himself in his civillain form.
Jungwon’s eyes widened.
“Oh my god— how did I not know it was you?!” He gaped. “Just your hair color and eye color changed… you didn’t even have a mask… and I didn’t know it was you?!”
Ni-ki blinked. “Well… I guess—”
“Well, I would’ve never expected you to be, well, Serpent. You’re always so shy, but Serpent is all confident and bold…” Jungwon trailed off.
Ni-ki laughed. “Yeah, I’m more confident in my villain persona.”
“No, don’t call yourself a villain. You’re more… an vigilante. Hero but not acknowledged yet.” Jungwon bumped his shoulder with his own.
“Oh? Then when will I be acknowledged?” Ni-ki asked jokingly.
“You already are. To me.” Jungwon said, a little shyly.
Ni-ki looked away, heat creeping up on his cheeks.
—
After they had showed each other their civillian identities, they grew closer. At school, they greeted each other more often and exchanged more gifts, and talked just for the sake of it. They had become friends, and it was really nice.
Of course, Sunghoon and Jay flipped once they found out Ni-ki had told Jungwon about the fact that he was Serpent, but then they were too stunned to find out Jungwon was the hero Angel to nag him any further.
Befriending Jungwon (which was also befriending Angel) had its perks. Ni-ki, Sunghoon, and Jay got to properly meet Jungwon, and Jungwon’s three friends, Heeseung, Sunoo, and Jake.
Ni-ki also got the perks of being able to recieve Jungwon/Angel’s healing powers when he got especially bad cuts or bruises from fights with criminals he was stopping. It was way better than Sunghoon’s band-aids and ointments (Ha! Take that, Sunghoon!) and it was more effective too.
And once Ni-ki (as Seprent) started showing up in public with Angel beside his side, and obviously working with Angel, the public started to see him in a more positive way, seeing him as a hero rather than a villain.
Ni-ki rather he be seen as a villain since it helped him stop criminals better when they were afraid of him as a psycho villain than a hero in their way, and the police still went after him, but it was nice to be cheered for as a hero.
Ni-ki loved the days where he could hang out with Jungwon after a day of fighting crime.
He sat on the rooftop edge beside Jungwon. They were both in their other-persona-looks, just perched there on the rooftop, watching the sun setting in the distance, casting a gold-orange-pink hue over Seoul.
“This is nice,” Angel/Jungwon commented. “Kinda romantic.”
Ni-ki hummed in agreement.
It really was. It was nice to peacefully sit on the rooftop, watching the sun set. It was nice because he wasn’t alone. Jungwon was sitting next to him, and he radiated a warmth that Ni-ki couldn’t feel with his fire. It was a friendly kind of warmth that hugged him with care.
Jungwon was nice. He was very nice, and Ni-ki loved when Jungwon hugged him. He was also really pretty and his brown eyes were pretty. His lips were also pretty as well. What if Ni-ki were to kiss him on the lips—
Oh good lord, when had that begun to appear in his thoughts?!
Feeling a little panicked, he glanced at Jungwon who looked unbothered as ever and veyr normal. Ni-ki rushed to his feet.
“Uh, I think I have a test to study for tomorrow.” He lied. “See you, Jungwon hyung.” He said hastily.
“Hm? Oh, of course.” Maybe it was his imagination, but Jungwon looked a little disappointed. Ni-ki, nonetheless, let himself be sucked into the nearby shadow, and he traveled down back to the ground and back to his house.
—
It happened several times. Ni-ki would stop bad guys with Jungwon by his side, as the ultimate crime-fighting duo. Jungwon got better control over his chlorokinesis and could trap the bad guys with his plant vines. It helped Ni-ki kick their asses once they stopped running off, and it also helped get back the stolen goods.
Then they would sit on a rooftop, either watching the sun set or look at the stars in the night sky. Ni-ki would sit next to Jungwon, and each time, the distance between them got smaller and smaller. And each time, he wanted to kiss the other boy even though he knew it was probably wrong to want that. And it’d be hella weird. Right?
Until Jungwon surprised him by acting first. It was unexpected, really.
Ni-ki was just sitting, there lost in his thoughts (mostly about a certain hero boy), when something soft pressed against his lips. He let out a startled squeak, and met Jungwon’s eyes as he pulled back from kissing Ni-ki.
On the lips.
Jungwon’s cheeks were red. “S—Sorry, I just…” he trailed off.
Ni-ki’s eyes were wide and his cheeks were probably equally flushed. “…just what?” he asked in a hushed tone.
Jungwon glanced at him. “I… I’ve been thinking whether I should or not for so long, and… I thought I could just take a shot, you know? You probably think it’s weird, so I’m sorry—”
“I wanted to kiss you too.” Ni-ki interupted.
Jungwon’s eyes were wide and round. “W—What?”
Ni-ki swallowed. “I… I thought about kissing you a lot of times. But I was scared you’d hate me and you didn’t want to hang out anymore.”
Jungwon blinked. “That’s… what I worried about too. I like— I love you a lot… but I worried you’d think it’s weird because we’re just friends, and we’re also supposed to be hero and villains, and we’re supposed to be enemies…”
Ni-ki smiled a little. “Well, does this mean you like me? ‘Cause I really like you.”
Jungwon nodded eagerly. “Yeah, I like you. A lot.”
—
So, that was how it all happened. They acknowledged their feelings for each other but hadn’t acted on it until a few days later when they experimented with holding hands and kissing.
And only after their friends pointed out their hands intertwined together often, did they put a label and say they were boyfriends. Only their five friends knew about their relationship and about their other personas.
The world still saw them as Angel and Serpent, the hero and villain vigilante duo doing good and stopping crime.
—
“Ki, love!”
Ni-ki turned around to find Jungwon walking over to them with a bowl of popcorn. He smiled and kissed Jungwon as he stopped in front of him.
“Did you pick the movie?” Jungwon asked, glancing at the TV where Netflix was turned on. Ni-ki fumbled with the remote control.
“I was thinking superhero movie… unless you don’t want to?” He asked nervously.
“Of course I do!” Jungwon laughed. “We can point out all the inaccuracies together.” He giggled, sitting down on their sofa. Ni-ki joined him and sat down next to his boyfriend of two years.
After graduating high school, they had bought a decently sized apartment in the city nearby their new college. They still worked their jobs as a hero duo. Ni-ki changed his name to Umber, and publicly announced he was now a hero, working with Angel.
Of course, also worked simple part-time jobs on the side to earn actual money for a living. Even with saving lives, they weren’t paid, sadly.
It had been two years ago since they first started dating, and just one year since they graduated. Jay and Sunghoon now went to the same college as Ni-ki and Jungwon, and they still met up when they all were free to get coffee.
Heeseung and Jake had started dating, and moved to Australia to go to a college there. Sunoo remained in Seoul, but wanted to go to another college. Jungwon still met up with Sunoo on the weekends to go out shopping— which Ni-ki was slightly against; not because he was jealous, but because Jungwon would buy him all sorts of crazy things when he went shopping with Sunoo.
Colorful things he’d never wear. At this point, he was certain Jungwon was doing it to tease him. But he didn’t stop his boyfriend because no one could stop Jungwon. Not even his own boyfriend.
Ni-ki clicked on the movie, one about a young boy being in contact with chemicals that turned him into a mutant, and becoming a superhero.
“Already inaccurate from the start,” Jungwon tutted disapprovingly.
Ni-ki laughed.
Yeah, he was totally happy.
