Yo! First attempt at a crossover on this site!

Here's hoping I can do both series anything resembling justice.

Chapter 1: A freak incident

Chapter Text

Sabina von Magdred wasn't someone most...noticed really.

She was the daughter of a noble house of the kingdom so minor it's land is more remembered for it's position as a path between Gaspard territory and the mountains then anything else.

She herself was not anything special to most at the officers academy, standard grades, brown hair and eyes, didn't really add anything to her uniform and wore it the perfectly standard way, wasn't in any of the three houses main classes, just another face in the background.

But she swore she would change that and prove them all wrong!

She stood just outside the three classrooms where the house leaders seemed to each be talking to the mysterious mercenary of rumor who had saved them.

She smirked

"ATTENTION!" She loudly declared getting as many eyes on herself as possible

"Sabina von Magdred! Will be performing a demonstration of a powerful and ancient spell!

She held up the tome in her hands for emphasis. She'd aquired it from the old librarian Tomas, he'd said it seemed to be some ancient spellbook none could make heads or tales of

But she'd figured it out! She might not have had grades as good as that Mercedes or the Dominic girl, but she'd attended the Fhirdiad school of sorcery and she knew her stuff!

And once she showed off her magic talent so clearly they'd all change their tune! Everyone would have to take notice! Why, she wouldn't be surprised if the house leaders of the Empire and Alliance tried to poach her for themselves...

Shaking her head and stopping the daydreaming she turned her eyes to the page and began to read the inscription!

"Ab insigni ignis in terram a labe!"

Power swirled enveloping the courtyard in a flash of light!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Edelgard blinked as she awoke, propping herself up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

What...had happened?

Her plan with the bandits had failed do to the intervention of some mercenaries.

She had attempted to get the most interesting of the group to join the empire only for the church to scoop him up first.

She had been watching Claude and Dimitri each talking to the new professors after she had to see if she could get a read on what house he might choose...then...

Then that girl started making a commotion and after she read a spell and then...nothing.

Had she been knocked out by a mis cast spell? If so she hoped the academy gave that foolish girl proper punishment...before Hubert got his hands on her.

But as she opened her eyes and fully adjusted to the light she was hit with another wave of confusion. This wasn't her room or the Garreg Mach infirmary, just where was she?

"Uuuhg" a groan suddenly breaking her out of her thoughts. Looking over the princess saw Claude in a cot adjacent to hers beginning to stir, the next two cots contained Dimitri and Byleth respectively.

Just as all four had properly awoken the door to the room they were in opened revealing a man with grey hair clad in a black jacket over dark green clothes and a pair of glasses.

"Ah so your all finally awake."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Claude liked to think he was pretty used to the strange all things considered.

Fodlan was after all, for all their similarities rather different in a number of ways from Almyra and he had spent a decent amount of time learning the strange rules of his mothers homeland just as he had growing up in his fathers.

All that said? This took cake.

The man who introduced himself to the four as one Professor Ozpin of Beacon Academy (whatever that was) had instructed them to follow him outside and with little other choice in the situation and much hesitancy they did

And were now staring up at the moon...the broken moon.

The moon was broken

...What?!

The man in question seemed less concerned with that and more with the groups gaping expressions of shock

"As I thought, tell me are any of you familiar with the many worlds theory?"

"It's-" Edelgard responded shakily "It's a obscure theory, suppressed by the church that states there exists multiple parallel realities and worlds..."

WHAT?!

Ozpin simply gave a small smile "Indeed, welcome to Remnant."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The past few days had been...interesting for Byleth to say the least.

His father being an ex knight of some church? That was one thing, dad never talked much about his past so something like this lacked much surprise.

The strange girl from his dreams appearing to him in his waking hours and gifting him the chance to turn back time? That was strange

Being hired as a teacher of all things by the church his father apparently used to work for and now does again? Unusual but rather mundane compared to the above.

Waking up in a different world altogether completely alien to everything he knew?

That had taken the cake and eaten it in a single sitting.

Ozpin had proceeded to usher them along the walk to his office where he sat down and explained more.

Magic was exceptionally rare in this Remnant place and even for people capable of it like Ozpin, world crossing spells were exceptionally difficult and taxing.

"I'm sorry to say, it's likely the girl you saw cast that spell died immediately after of over-exertion" He explained, sounding genuinely saddened

...at least Byleth thought so, but he was never very good at understanding emotions.

Still the next course of action was easier to follow. Ozpin would assist them in finding a way back to Fodlan, until then they would remain in Beacon,  apparently a school similar to the officers academy but specialized for momster hunters, and attend as students.

Byleth's lack of knowledge in the combat strategies, threats and history in general of this world disqualified him from being a teacher here which he understood, frankly it still confused him why the church offered him the position.

And so after being introduced to some temporary rooms the four were off to sleep.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dimitri could not sleep, the sudden flash, the terror of everything he knew now being out of reach, the raw confusion of everything...it brought him back to that wretched night

So to not suffer the Nightmares till absolutely necessary he sat in bed not asleep but not willing to wake the others until...

"Psh! Your Highnesses!" Claude suddenly let out a loud whisper and he saw Edelgard turn her attention to him

"What do you want Claude" She asked sharply

"Well given the odd situation, I think we should, and I don't know this is just a suggestion, talk about it?"

"Then why did you only address us and not Byleth?" Dimitri asked with a raised brow

"Could tell he was really asleep unlike the rest of us, geuss paranoia from being in a position of power since a young age has it's upsides~" he joked in rather poor taste as far as Dimitri was concerned.

"Well where do you want to start?" Edelgard asked "With the fact that a theory suppressed by the church was completely accurate? The fact that we're so far from our homes and powerbases that even the night sky is unrecognizable? Or do we just jump straight into how we have no clue how trustworthy this Professor Ozpin even is?!" She became more harried with each word it seemed as the purple eyed girl was lightly panting by the end of it.

"El..." It genuinely hurt Dimitri to see her like this

"Listen" the prince began "I understand, this situation is trying for everyone. We have nations waiting for us back in Fodlan and people most certainly worried, but we cannot let panic overtake" he declared firmly.

After a moment and a deep breath the white haird girl nodded.
