Work Text:
“Our first shift as P2’s.” Lucy says to Jackson as they get their shop ready.
“Finally.” Jackson smiles at her. “You want to drive?”
“Oh hell yes.” Lucy says as they fist bump each other. They get settled in and all the cameras are turned on. It’s a slower morning for them which neither of them mind. They can ease into it.
They’re both called to a bridal shop for a dispute over a wedding dress. Lucy and Jackson walk into the shop. It takes a moment for either to realize that both Angela and Tim were there.
“Tim?” Lucy questions. He glares at her. She’s confused.
“Focus boot.” Tim bellows out. Lucy wants to roll her eyes. Her eyes go back to the two women.
“What’s going on?” Lucy asks as she feels Tim’s eyes on her.
“She stole my dress!” One of them yells. Lucy wants to roll her eyes.
“Both of you need to let go.” Lucy says. Neither listen. Jackson grabs one while Lucy grabs another. Neither let go and the dress rips in half. The woman that is near Lucy elbows her right in the face and Lucy knocks into the counter. Shit. She gets up even though she feels sick and puts cuffs on the woman. Jackson called for backup while Angela and Tim looked on.
Lucy almost cries as she sees Tim staring her down. “What?” She spats at him as he goes to speak.
“Umm, nothing.” Tim feels bad for giving her a hard time. Angela goes to speak to Lucy, but she just holds her hand up.
“Don’t Angela.” Lucy says. Jackson catches her before she falls. “I’m fine.” She mumbles as Smitty and Nolan take the two women away.
“You have to be checked out.” Jackson says. Lucy shakes her head.
“I am fine Jackson. I don’t need an ambulance.” Tim hears this and comes over.
“Officer Chen. You have to be checked out. I may be off duty but I am your senior officer.” Tim says there staring at her with his arms crossed.
“Fine.” She growls before stumbling out the door. “You don’t need to be such an ass.” Tim shakes his head. Jackson looks at Angela.
“That dress is amazing!” He runs out after Lucy. There’s blood pouring down her face and he knows she needs help. Jackson let’s Grey know what’s going on and tells him to take care of Lucy.
“They grow up so fast.” Angela smirks at Tim. Lucy is brought to the hospital via ambulance and Jackson follows her in the shop. Lucy’s taken back and Jackson goes with her.
“Officer Chen. You need stitches. You have a very deep laceration on your head. We are going to give you something so that we can stitch you up. You’ll be off the next few days.” Lucy groans but nods her head.
An hour later, Jackson checks in on Lucy.
“JACKSON!” She yells. Her stitches are just being finished. Jackson went to update Grey. “I love you! Not as much as I love Tim, but I love you.” Jackson’s eyes go wide.
“Lucy, I think you need to relax.” Jackson says. He isn’t sure what to say before his best friend spills her guts.
“Noooo Jackson. You know I told Tim I had feelings for him on my last shift as a rookie. I said it was a lie because he didn’t think I could do undercover work. I don’t even want to continue undercover work, Jackson.” She leans closer to Jackson. “You know what I want? I want Tim. I was lying, Jackson. I need to tell him. Although he probably doesn’t feel the same, does he? Have you seen his ass Jackson? Oh and his abs? I saw them at Rachel’s once. He’s so hot, but I want all of him. He’s so kind too. God Jackson. He’s just amazing.” Lucy says. Jackson’s phone rings.
“Hold on. I have to take this.” He tells Lucy. Lucy sees him around the corner. She quickly gets out of bed and manages to sneak out. She was not supposed to leave the hospital yet. Lucy ordered an Uber and put in Tim’s address. Oh is he even back? Let’s hope so.
Lucy is still high on whatever drugs they gave her, but she makes it to Tim’s in one piece. The driver gave her weird looks, but she tipped well so he didn’t say anything. Lucy goes to Tim’s door and starts banging.
“TIIIIIIIM!” She yells and continues to knock. He finally answers the door and his face is one of confusion. Tim looks at her softly.
“Lucy, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the hospital?” Tim asks as he guides her inside. Lucy giggles and goes close to his ear.
“Oops, I left. I wasn’t supposed to was I?” Lucy smiles. “I needed to see you handsome.” Lucy wraps her arms around Tim. Tim gulps as he leads Lucy to the couch. He texts Jackson.
Why is Lucy at my house and not at the hospital?!
From Jackson:
She came to you? I’m on my way.
To Jackson:
No, I’ve got her. I’ll take care of her.
Tim looks at Lucy and she smiles at him. “I have a secret to tell you.” Lucy says quietly. Tim looks at her.
“It’s okay, Lucy. No need.” Tim says.
“No shhh.” Lucy puts her finger on Tim’s lip. “My last day Tim. I was lying.” Tim goes to protest. “I need to tell you the truth. It wasn’t a lie. I’ve had feelings for you for a long time. I think you do too. I don’t want to do undercover work Tim. I want to have you in my life. That’s all I care about.” Lucy smiles. Tim can see she’s tired. He doesn’t want to respond while she’s on whatever drugs the hospital gave her. Lucy lays her head on Tim’s lap and falls asleep. He runs his hand through her hair and can’t stop thinking about everything she said.
Lucy isn’t wrong. I do have feelings for her. Tim is scared. He doesn’t want to ruin her career. That’s why he hasn’t made his move. Tim sits on the couch with Lucy asleep on him. We will talk after. It could have been a confession that she didn’t actually mean. Lucy finally stirs after an hour.
Lucy’s eyes go wide as she sees Tim. “Oh god. What happened?”
“You got hurt at the bridal shop. You needed stitches and snuck out of the hospital when you were high on drugs.” Tim tells her sheepishly. Lucy suddenly has a clear mind and it all comes flooding back.
“Oh no. I’m so sorry Tim.” Lucy scampers away, but Tim grabs her hand. “Tim, I embarrassed myself in front of you.” He pulls her closer.
“Did you mean it?” Tim asks her.
“Tim, you have your own life. You can have anyone else. I know I’m not anyone important.” Lucy says and Tim wipes a few tears.
“That’s where you are wrong Lucy. I know you weren’t in your right mind, but I think you meant what you said.” Lucy puts her head down, but Tim puts his hand under her chin.
“Tim, I-”
“Tell me it was a lie Lucy.” Tim says quietly.
“It’s not a lie Tim. None of it was a lie. I’m just scared. I made an idiot of myself.” This time Lucy pulls away and wraps her arms around herself as she stands up. Tim stands up and pulls her closer.
“You don’t need to be scared. This is not one sided. I’ve had feelings for you for so long Lucy. Probably since I breathed life back into you.” Lucy gasps. “It’s true Lucy.” He doesn’t waste any time kissing her gently. Lucy melts into him and her arms automatically move around Tim’s waist. He rests his forehead against Lucy’s.
“We’re doing this. This is real?” Lucy whispers.
“The realest thing I’ve felt in a long time.” Tim says. He wipes tears from Lucy’s face.
“No tears. This is good. We will figure everything else out okay?” Lucy nods as she sits there chewing her lip.
“I’m sorry. I can’t lose you from my life Tim. I know you only just stopped being my TO, but you have been more to me for longer. You’re the one person who has always had my back. You’re the one constant in my life Tim. If this doesn’t work, I won’t survive it.” Tim looks at her as he cradles her face in his hands.
“You won’t Lucy. This is real. I’m not going anywhere baby.” Lucy looks into his eyes and she knows this will be okay. She shakes her head. “Do you want to go on a date?”
“Yeah Tim, I do.” Lucy says as she surges to kiss him again. They come clean at Angela’s wedding, but Jackson never lets Lucy live down what she said while high. Tim was embarrassed when he found out.
”I can’t help if you’re so damn sexy.” Lucy says to Tim. He laughs. “How about I show you?” Lucy pushes him to the bedroom to show him how she felt.
Thankfully he didn’t want much in return except her apartment. It worked out because Lucy wanted to live with Tim anyways. He was Lucy’s man of honor at their wedding too. Tim didn’t like that Lucy got hurt, but it pushed them together. He would forever be grateful.
