“Nora we may have a big problem.
-It better be life or death Alejandro i was in the middle of a makeout session with your lovely sister and I would like to get back to it.”
Alex frowns in disgust at the idea.
“Okay, first of all, gross? I do NOT want to know what you and my sister are doing when I’m not here thank you very much!
- oh so you’re wlw-phobic?
-Nora what the fuck is that even a word? Also, I literally punched a guy that was being gross towards you and June the other night? I just don’t want to think about my SISTER who I’m linked to by BLOOD making out with my best friend – slash – ex thank you very much!
-Okay okay that’s fair I was just kidding. What’s going on?
-I think I’m in love with Henry”
Nora burst out laughing. Very loudly. Alex can hear his sister’s voice in the background saying ‘what stupid shit did my brother say, now’.
“You just realized this? Alexander every time I think you can’t get any more oblivious, you manage to prove me wrong!
-I am not -that- oblivious!
-Alejandro it literally took you walking in on me and your sister having sex for you to realize we were in a relationship!
- You didn’t tell me! How was I supposed to know?
-We kissed on the mouth MULTIPLE TIMES in front of you?!
- I just thought it was one of your weird girl things! Okay but that’s besides the point I am having a crisis!
-Alex I thought you were already dating Henry?
-Well, yeah but we never really dropped the L-word you know we’re not there yet!
-Fucking hell man! You’ve been dating for five months!
-yeah but what if its casual for him?
-Dude, do you realize how fucking absurd that sounds? You know what, walk me through what makes you think that you may be in love with Henry”
And so, Alex started talking and didn’t stop. He talked about how sometimes he catches himself staring at Henry from across a room and how everytime Henry notices he just blushes and looks away with the cutest embarrassed smile. How every time they hang out in a place that has a lot of noise, Henry keeps a point of contact with Alex to allow him to stay grounded and in the moment. How, no matter how bad they are, Henry always laughs at Alex’s jokes. How Henry orders food to Alex’s flat when he notices that the latter has been MIA for a few hours, guessing that he was probably in a hyperfocus bubble. How, even on his really bad days, Henry always looks like a fallen angel. How Henry is the smartest person he has ever met and he doesn’t even realize it. How, whenever Alex says something a bit absurd, Henry will simply chuckle and say ‘you’re so American’ with the fondest smile on his face that makes Alex melt every time.
“Olivia Rodrigo was right it’s so unfair of him to make me feel this much Nora, I’m gonna marry him if he keeps that up!”
Before Nora could reply, Alex heard a cough behind him. He whipped his head to find Henry looking at him, mouth agape, a delicate blush on his cheek and his eyes sparkling with… Something Alex couldn’t really name.
“Uh- Nora I’m going to have to call you back.”
Alex hangs up the phone and fully turns towards Henry, rubbing a hand on his neck. He gave Henry the key to his apartment bak when they were simply best friends because it became Henry’s secondary residence seeing all the time he spent there, he didn’t expect to regret that decision.
“So… How much did you hear…?”
Henry smiled bashfully.
“Honestly, I think I heard all of it.”
Alex cringed upon hearing the words.
“Okay, that’s not ideal, but what do you think about it….?
-Were you serious about it all?
-Henry, I was on call with Nora, she’d literally slam me against this table if she realized I was lying to her.
-Okay, fair.
-So…?”
Henry smiled and sat next to Alex on the couch, taking his pface in his hands.
“I’m choosing the rings for the wedding, love.”
Alex let out a breath he didn’t even realize he was holding and grinned.
“So, you love me too?
-My gosh Alex you are so american, you need everything spelled out for you. Yes I love you too.”
Alex’s smile grew impossibly bigger and he grabbed Henry’s face in his hands before kissing him fiercely. He has never been this happy to be called “so American” in his life.
After a few hours, Alex checked his messages. He got one message from Nora that simply read

I better be the best woman at your wedding dumbass.
