Henry wakes up after an accident with amnesia and is convinced that it's 5 years earlier. He immediately notices the wedding ring on his finger and is terrified to figure out what woman the crown ended up manipulating him into marrying. Instead his unrequited crush/dream man/one-sided mortal enemy walks in with a bouquet of flowers and a matching wedding band.

He's married to his long-term unrequited crush, who is supposed to hate him, and on top of that, he's openly gay? No, this can't be real. But he supposes there are worse coma-induced dreams to be stuck in than one where you're living your dream life, one that is out of reach for you in reality. Henry is so obsessed with this dream he kind of doesn't want to wake up from his coma. Because that's all this is.. right? A coma induced dream?

Henry has the best first date of his life and thinks that maybe he should start believing in fate again.
The next day he finally goes to the doctor who shares his concerns about his recent symptoms, especially with his family history. He keeps going on dates with Alex and doesn't tell him because he's probably fine, right? The day after their 4th date he gets diagnosed with cancer.
He tells himself he'll end things with Alex before Alex gets too attached, to make sure he hurts as little people as possible should he die.
After recovering from his first round of chemo he caves and calls Alex.
The next day he runs into Alex in the hospital, he lies about meeting a friend and blocks Alex when he gets home.
When Alex finds out that Henry is undergoing chemo he shows up at the hospital with flowers and a boyfriend proposal.

Was this happening? Was this truly happening, or was it merely a figment of his imagination? Will he wake up from a nap on this very same sofa, startle awake, finding that Alex was far away from his reach again?
Desperate as he always was with Alex, his hands reached instinctively for his waist, grabbing it and moving him until their bodies were connected in every way. A gasp escaped both of their mouths, making it impossible to discern who made the sound first. The intimacy of it was making him dizzy, all his dreams and all that he had ever wanted were at his fingertips.
He really should gift a cruise to his therapist, if he ended up keeping his soulmate.
“I have never kissed anyone, either.” He confessed, a blush covering his entire face, surely. “Never wanted anyone but you, darling.”
