I Just Want to be a Small Idol

Summary:

Months after controversial Ex-Star Yinyue Jun's death, many saw a small star with a similar face rising up from the ashes and attempting to become an idol like his predecessor. Some ridiculed while others (cough, face-cons) supported the young man. Dan Heng felt that it would be easy to reclaim his title as the number one idol of the Xianzhou Luofo.

What many wanted to see however, was how the younger man interacted with the original High Cloud Quintet members, especially one by the name of Blade.

Comments zooming by said [beat him up! you're not my daddy if you don't beat him up!] and [why are they together again... do the producers like to see meaningless chaos and war].

They were truly fire and water, never to be put in the same room alone together... However.... When Blade suddenly pushed the younger man kabe-don style, trapping him entirely in his embrace, the comments suddenly changed.

[ah!!!!! please kiss!!!!!!! please kiss please kiss!!!]

[happy marriage wow.... renheng is RIO!!!!]

Wait a second...... what happened to the revenge plot?! What about our deep hatred????! This isn't how it was supposed to go!

Notes:

Chapter Text

Dan Feng, the ex-national treasured idol of the Xianzhou Luofu was killed in a car crash. What interesting headlines, Dan Heng thought to himself.

As he scrolled across countless pages, floods of comments poured into news articles. Instead of sad words mourning the ex-star's death though, it's all disgusting celebrations, mocking the man instead.

[good riddance! after what he did to the big 5, he had it coming!]

[who has been waiting for this? say i]

[ah... wait.. don't you all feel bad? he never got held responsible by law WW my poor bladie and yuan-yuan~~]

Amongst these however, there were at least some more sympathetic ones.

[is it just me who thinks all of these comments are disgusting? you should all be ashamed of yourselves. a person died.]

[let's respect the dead (==) no need to aggravate his ghost...]

[no!!!!!! QAQ what about my CP renheng! what will poor bladie do? TT]

Ah wait.. This last comment is a bit odd???

Dan Heng scratched his head... Obviously he didn't expect to wake up like this, months after his own death. Appearing in a different body at that. He had already accepted it. With a fall from grace as steep as Dan Feng's, he considered death by kidnapping and murder from rabid stalker fans, not a simple car crash with no recovered body. It was truly odd. He himself had no recollection of the events leading up to the incident. Only faint murmurs of what caused such explosive news and his subsequent downfall. One thing was clear though: he needed to stay the hell away from the rest of the High Cloud Quintet members!!!!!!!!!

Waking up disoriented and realizing that the Aeons above had given him another chance at living,  Dan Feng, now Heng, wasn't going to take it for granted and run straight into the people that wanted him dead the most. Looking at his profile, he had a general idea of his new identity.

Dan Heng, aged 24, sent to the hospital after hitting his head on the stairs leading up to his apartment complex. Aside from some amnesia, everything else was fine save for some small scrapes and bruises. A sickly pale body, no close friends, no immediate family on account of being an orphan, and the only contacts the original body owner were countable on two hands. It seemed that the deep blue, cold eyes and black hair were the only things the two had in common. How convenient to body-snatch.... Dan Heng truly wanted to smack someone. Looking at his chart, it was a testament to the Aeons above how this kid lived for so long on just cup noodles and energy drinks. And on top of being an idol trainee at that.

Dan Heng felt his heart hurting. Was the new wave of trainees truly this hardcore? Even at his worst, he was able to eat at least one nutritious meal a day, thanks to the help of... Him. He made a small mental note to look up the man later.

It seemed like he couldn't escape the star-life. Despite how much he would prefer to retire, if the original body owner came back and saw that he was no longer in training and was instead a simple librarian, there's no telling what that guy would do... as a pure compassionate member of the Xianzhou, Dan Heng didn't mind becoming an idol for the second time. As long as he didn't have to meet any of those people that is.

...

This couldn't be that hard right? They were famous busy people. At his current spot, there was no way they would be able to meet, especially as a little nobody sapling not even given a stage-name yet. This was what Dan Heng would've said if the High Cloud Quintets themselves weren't the sponsors for the program he was enlisted into. If he was lucky, they would've at least glanced the younger man's way once as courtesy. At worst, they would've spoken a few sentences to him.

Damn.

Was this little look-alike truly without brains? With a face that was seven to eight parts similar to Dan Feng's, there was no telling how a certain someone whom hated his original body would bully him, especially in his current no-name form... He only had to hope that the sponsors wouldn't look his way, and that he would be quickly booted off this program to compete in another. At worst, he just had to suck it up. Dan Heng wanted no part of his past after all. What happened had already happened and there was no need to clear the name of a dead man(?). Even if others could recognize his face as being similar.. It was purely unscientific to claim they were the same. Especially since Dan Feng was older, taller, and gave off the aura of a much more mature man.

The baby faced, young, barely reaching 183cm Dan Heng: there was no possible plastic surgery for such drastic changes. \(>o<)/

Personality-wise, seeing as the original body barely had any contacts, he can play off any interactions with having amnesia. The original body owner may not have taken care of his health, but his vocals and fitness seemed to be fine from what clips he could find. Mostly a promotional video uploaded by the program themselves, highlighting the young man's singing talents and piercing ice-cold beauty. Dan Heng could work with this. Dan-body-snatcher-Heng would show the showbiz world a true monster and take revenge on everyone!

This was plan nada, as in not going to happen. He was comfortable with being a small little idol, taking on minor roles and playing around with some group.... Unless he wanted to die again there was no need to repeat the past. (-v-) Let's just be salted fish la~~~~

After finishing up his plans, Dan Heng, about to tuck himself back into bed and sleep off any exhaustion from web-surfing, had the door to his room slam open with a bang.

"Dan Heng!"

A young girl rushed over to his side, clearly in worry and shock. Behind her, was a pair of twins with grey hair. It seemed like Mr. Original Body had friends after all. Shit.

It was going to be alright, thank god for his amnesia excuse. Even without it, Dan Heng at his prime was known as a film emperor, gifted with immense talent and dashing good looks. (Un)Luckily for him(Mr. Film Star Dan ready to show off his talents), the girl pounced on him crying and wailing before he could even say a coherent word. He should thank you young missy for helping him keep quiet. (=.=)

One of the twins slowly peeled her off him, while the other placed a basket full of fruit onto his nightstand table.

"Are you feeling better now Dan Heng? We heard about your accident. The doctors told us the gist of it," one of them asked.

"Haha! You're too incredible y'know. Suddenly falling like that. You're lucky some kind stranger was right at the foot of the stairs and picked you up."

"Don't make fun of him like that! He's still in recovery. Look at his stupefied face!"

"Ah... You see, about that. I feel fine but you'll have to remind me of your names. I'm sorry." Dan Heng slowly lowered his head, feeling his face flush. he wasn't used to receiving this kind of nice treatment for a long time already.. If he was a weaker man, he would've burst out with tears streaming down his face.

"There's no way you call amnesia and potential brain damage just 'fine'!", the girl interjected.

"March, calm down. Don't spook him."

One of the twins held his hand gently and smiled, while the other stroked March's back.

"Well for starters, I assume you already know who you are. I'm Caelus. Those two girls are my sister, Stelle, and March, our mutual friend. We've known one another for a while now."

March nodded her head like a little chicken picking up grains and said "We're all your friends and bandmates. If you need anything just call!"

He was a little overwhelmed with all this support, not having gotten it during the remaining months leading up to Dan Feng's death. Dan Heng merely nodded and prayed that his assumption of the owner being more of the quiet type was correct.

A beep abruptly came from Caelus's jacket pocket.

"Was that Himeko and Mr. Welt?" March asked.

"Yeah. I called them earlier to let them know we were visiting. We still need to perform but we can delay it a bit for you. Just let us know whenever you're ready."

Oh.. Of course his first obstacle already. The Aeons truly wouldn't be so kind as to give him an easy first task. Dan Heng grimaced on the inside, nodding once again at Caelus's words.

"Do you still remember your lines and performance?" Stelle asked, after letting her body drape over March's on one of the visiting chairs.

Faking a smile, Dan Heng merely responded with an "I'll manage" before the nurse came in and tossed the trio out to, in her words, let the patients rest.

After the nurse changed his IV and left, he took a deep breath. There truly were no easy ways out. Setting aside the performance, there were still many things he needed to sort out. Deciding on getting a good night's sleep instead of staying up to wallow in his new troubles, Dan Heng would leave tomorrow's issues for tomorrow.

His dreams weren't so kind however, as he saw flashbacks to the night that changed everything. How annoying, he thought. Waking up in a puddle of your own sweat was never any fun. It seemed like a certain blue-red haired someone was still haunting him, even in this body.
