Letting his wife have a dog was the worst thing Draco Malfoy had ever done. Right next to that creature, Priscilla, Ginny claimed was an angel. Daffodil, or as Ginny called her 'Daffy', was glaring at Draco. Actually glaring! The audacity of her 'innocent' crup was astounding. Draco leans back, arms crossed over his chest, and he glares back. Daffodil yips happily and closes her big, wet eyes.
Ginny steps out of the bathroom, toothbrush held in her fingers, eyebrow cocked. "I'm almost rea- what are you doing, Draco?" Her hands come to her hips.
"Me? What am I doing? You should ask your crup. She's glaring at me, again." He nods at Daffodil, where she's curled up on Ginny's side of the bed.
Ginny closes her eyes and sighs. "One, Draco, she's just a dog, not a crup. I've told you this. Two, I think she's trying to sleep."
"Doubtful. She keeps looking at me and-" Priscilla, in all her sleek ginger-furred glory, trots in from the other room, leaps onto the bed and settles up against Daffodil's side. Daffodil turns and licks Priscilla's head. Draco scowls. "I don't like how she acts around my cat."
Ginny laughs. She holds up her hand and ducks back into the bathroom. He hears her spit and the water running. When Ginny returns, she's still laughing. "So she's your cat now? I thought you said that 'demon hellspawn you call a cat' was mine?"
Eyes narrowing, Draco frowns further. "Well, Pris needs someone to give her attention now that you're preoccupied with that terror." He tips his head at the innocent-looking animal, but Draco knows she's after something.
She shakes her head and comes to stand in front of him. "You are the most ridiculous man I've ever met. I hope you know that."
Softening, Draco flashes her the band on his left hand, "And still, you married me. Took my last name, carried my children."
Ginny hums, she pulls his and to her lips and kisses the metal ring. "I think I deserve extra thanks for that one since I'm working double time now."
Draco's lips quirk. He pulls her closer by the hips and kisses the swell of her belly hidden by her t-shirt. "You're doing it magnificently, but-"
"But?" She fixes him with a pointed look.
Draco smiles and kisses the back of Ginny's hand. "But I think you're spoiling your crup—"
"Dog, puppy even, there's only one tail, Draco." Ginny corrects.
"Fine, dog. Look, she's sleeping on your side, and the second you sit down, she's in your lap, all over you. She's spoiled."
Ginny leans down and kisses high up on his cheekbone, "I think you're jealous."
"That's ridiculous, Ginerva," he scoffs.
Ginny smiles wide, and cheshire. "Oh, full name. I know I've pressed a button." She teases, and Draco drags her half a step closer to him. His fingers skim past her shirt and across her smooth skin.
"What if I want you to give me some attention, Red." Draco murmurs, dragging the pad of his thumb across her ribs.
"I'd say we're going to be late if we wait any longer." Ginny retorts.
"We don't have to go," he counters, teasing at her bra.
"We skipped last week and the week before that. It won't be long before I really start showing or my Mum comes out herself to check in on us."
Draco heaves a sigh and nods. "I suppose you're right."
Ginny steps back to let him stand. "I'll get go wake our boy if you'll get jackets."
Draco blinks at her, confused but already moving. "It's the middle of June?"
"It's going to rain." Is all she says before walking to her side of the bed to give Daffodil and Priscilla each a long stroke through their fur; then she walks down the hall towards the nursery.
Draco is decidedly not jealous, because he has a wonderful view to admire when she walks away. He makes to follow her out, but Daffodil barks at him. Draco sighs, turns around, and gives the golden pup -and Pris- a few scratches before going after his wife.
He thinks, maybe Daffy wasn't so bad.
