They’d been pulled under.
Oh dough, they’d been pulled under-
A gasp was forced from their throat as they were pulled back beneath the water’s surface, a sense of dread sinking into their very being like a boulder that had been dropped into the sea.
Whatever had grasped them seemed to let up for a moment, providing a short lived moment of relief before they were sharply yanked downward by their air hose.
They felt it snap.
Water quickly flooded their suit, pulling them down further and seeping into their dough as they desperately tried to swim to the surface. They could feel themself melting into a grainy mess of sugar and jam, their legs only growing heavier and heavier as they crumbled, as their suit flooded and the water ate away at their skin and flesh like it was nothing. It invaded their lungs, tearing at them as if they were paper bags.
They couldn’t die like this. Were they going to die like this?
Their senses melted together just as their body did, losing structure to the pain as their very self did to the water. A million thoughts came to them at once. Were they going to die? Was their friend okay? Had they seen them go under? Were they really going to die??? Please, not like this. Not like this. NOT LIKE THIS-
Candy Diver Cookie bolted awake, loud clamoring and clashing noises escaping their suit. They couldn’t take in a breath. They couldn’t feel anything. They felt so heavy, why was it so heavy? They couldn’t feel their body. This wasn’t right. They needed to resurface they were dying they were dying they were-
Their hands grasped at their glass helmet, shaking their head for a moment. Their eyes rocked back and forth in the water of their suit as they did so, blurring their vision. Reminding them of where they were. What they were.
Right.
…A bubbling sound escaped their water-filled air tank, mimicking that of a sigh as they moved their hands back down to their sides. They pushed themself up off the deck and into a standing position as their eyes trailed to the sky. Then, they looked to the dock.
Ah. They were docked. Everyone else must’ve gone home.
..They sat back down.
They weren’t going back to sleep.
