Work Text:
Odette stared between her mother and Clara. Clara was hiding outside of their mother’s room, wanting to avoid the angry wrath of their mother, who did not like being awoken from her beauty sleep, not even by her two lovely daughters. “I’m getting Rosie,” Odette decided that she didn’t want to be the one to poke the bear.
“You’re already throwing her to the wolf? Harsh,” Clara said but she also refused to wake Carmilla up, knowing that the woman wasn’t a happy person when forced to be awake. Odette didn’t snark back as she usually would, knowing Clara understood her fear of waking their mother up.
Rosie was the kind maid who lived with them and her motherly nature endeared the children to her, which was why Carmilla didn’t mind her staying with them while she worked under her. “Miss Rosie, Mom has a meeting a couple of hours,” Odette and Clara told her and the woman checked the time.
“She’s still sleeping?” The sharp-fanged demon asked and she watched as both girls nodded their heads. Rosie let out a small sigh, preparing to wake up her mistress. To the two girls, she smiled softly at them. “Can you girls make coffee while I wake her?” Rosie asked with a smile on her face. Odette and Clara happily nodded their heads and they ran into the kitchen, getting the coffee ready Rosie walked up the stairs while she looked around the top floor of the house. When she found her mistress’s room, Rosie watched the woman sleep for a few more seconds before she started to shake her. “Miss Carmine,” Rosie let out a small grunt when the long-haired woman didn’t respond to her.
Rosie couldn’t help but smile, finding her employer extremely cute while she was sleeping but she had to wake the woman up, knowing Carmilla hated it when she overslept and missed morning. Rosie reached for the broom that never left Carmilla’s room and she gave the woman a gentle tap against her arm. Carmilla groaned at the sensation of feeling something against her arm. “Wake up before I hit you with the broom,” Rosie said and Carmilla popped one eye open, seeing Rosie smiling politely at her with a broom in her hand.
At first, Rosie assumed Carmilla was going to go back to sleep but instead, the woman pulled herself into a sitting position with a small grumble, and a pout on her face. “I’m taking a shower,” Carmilla grumbled as politely as she could. She really hated waking up early but with her two daughters and Rosie, Carmilla was sure she would survive the dreadful early hours.
Once Carmilla made her way down the stairs, wearing her outfit of the day, Odette and Clara glanced over at Rosie, who was giddy to see her employer up and walking about. No one said anything to the shorter woman as she slowly sipped her coffee. Once Carmilla looked a little bit more awake, she turned to Rosie, who was trying to avoid catching her gaze. “Thank you for waking me,” Carmilla told her. “I’m expected to be an early riser but I have a hard time waking up,” she told her maid. Rosie didn’t mind the things Carmilla was telling her, knowing that the woman wasn’t angry at her for threatening her into waking up. “You’ll be a pretty good wife,” she added, still half asleep as she needed more coffee before she was able to function throughout the day.
Rosie blushed at the words and Carmilla’s two daughters watched as their mother continued to have small chatter with Rosie. Odette glanced over at Clara, who was smirking at the sight. “I told you Mom had the hots for Miss Rosie,” Clara whispered to her older sister and Odette gave her sister a look. “We will talk about it in private, I promise,” Clara told the older girl, causing Odette to stare back at their mother and Rosie. “Anyway, Mom threatens to kill or even fire employees who even think about waking her, and look at how she treats Miss Rosie,” Clara was amused at the thought of their mother pouting at Rosie.
Odette couldn’t deny that their mother was soft when it came to Rosie. “Ten Souls that says she pouted,” Odette decided to bet on it with Clara, who rolled her eyes.
“I know Mom is soft with Miss Rosie but she can’t be that soft with her, can she?” Clara wondered.
A few seconds later, Clara was grumbling as she handed over some money to Odette, who was right with her assumption. “Girls, you shouldn’t be making bets on my behavior,” Carmilla lightly scolded.
“You make it easy for us, Mom,” Odette added as politely as she could and Carmilla blinked at her words, knowing Odette was telling the truth.
“When are you going to tell her?” Clara added and Carmilla wished she could play stupid but she knew her daughters better than that.
“Whenever I am sure she won’t run away from me when I do tell her,” she admitted. Carmilla knew she was stalling. She could read Rosie like a book and she knew she wanted to date the woman. She hadn’t been lying about saying that Rosie would make a good wife. She wanted the taller woman to be married to her but she wanted to properly ask her out. She wanted to give the woman all of the best things. Carmilla didn’t want Rosie to long for things she could easily give her.
Before the first meeting of the day, Carmilla decided to take a small nap in her office, and like always, when Rosie noticed the woman sleeping, she made sure that Carmilla would be awake for at least ten minutes so she could prepare for her meeting. “When’s the meeting?” Rosie wasn’t phased when she felt Carmilla lean her against her side.
“Ten minutes from now. Do you want me to stay for five minutes?” Rosie asked. Carmilla let out a small sigh.
“Can you stay in my lap throughout the meeting?” Carmilla asked.
“If it wouldn’t be no problem for your guests,” Rosie responded with a blush on her face.
“They can go trip over themselves,” Carmilla wanted to say something else but she was happy to have Rosie in her lap as she smiled up at the taller woman.
