Amerie was going to suffocate. She knew it would happen the minute she woke up and found Harper waiting at her dining room table for her this morning. She didn’t mean to feel like it. She loved Harper, really she did but the thing about loving someone is it’s easy to start despising them for always being around and well that was happening in Ameries case. She needed a break. She needed a really big fucking break.
Amerie hadn’t seen Darren and Quinni without Harper in so long and that was kind of hard considering Darren hated Harper, they knew that something had happened for Harper to cause Harper to act how she had but they still didn’t think it was a good enough excuse to hurt your bestfriend like that. So because Darren hated Harper they rarely ever got time to spend together.
Harper smiled over at Amerie from her seat a mere three inches at most from her and she knew without a doubt she was going to suffocate.
”What are we doing tonight?” Harper asked, a warm smile in place on her lips, a normal state for her the past month.
”Uh, Darren invited me and Quinni over to their dads to hang for a few hours afterschool, I figured I might do that.” Amerie replied with a small nod.
“Oh that sounds a little boring but whatever, I’m down.” Harper grinned.
Amerie was going to suffocate. “Cool, I’m sure they would love you to join.”
Amerie knew she needed to stand up for herself and put some boundaries up but she felt like a shitty friends whenever the thought of Harper being alone crossed her mind after everything she went through all those months ago.
Just then Jojo decided to make an entrance -turning Ameries attention to the front of the class- along with Woodsy and a few students who were snickering as they held tubs in their arms. Jojo thanked them once the tubs were placed on her desk and they left the room still snickering to eachother.
”Okay class, welcome to our newest assignment…” Jojo trailed off as she searched the class. “Where is Spider and Missy?” Jojo turned to look at Ant with a raised brow. “Do you know where Spider is?” She asked.
“I’m not his keeper.” Ant shot back defensively before sighing. “Sorry Jojo, I don’t know where he is.”
Jojo nodded and looked to Sasha. “What about Missy?”
Sasha shrugged. “I guess she’s sick.”
Just then the door opened and Missy walked into the class with a sheepish smile and a late note in hand, and Spider trailed in after her about 10 seconds later, empty handed.
“Missy, Spencer please explain why you are late.” Woodsy said, tone sharp, leaving little room for argument.
People ‘ooh’d and wolf-whistled as Missy blushed and Spider shrugged.
”I overslept.” Missy flushed in embarrassment.
Jojo shrugged and moved on. “Anyway as I was saying, the newest assignment is on why safe sex is important.” Jojo picked up a stack of paper and begun to hand them out to everyone. “I want everyone to write why they think safe sex is important and why condoms are useful.”
Harper rolled her eyes. “Boring.”
”Agreed.” Amerie murmured.
“I’m disappointed in some of you guys, I thought you would take this more seriously.” Jojo said disapprovingly.
”Truly disappointed.” Woodsy repeated.
Amerie watched as a few people’s faces dropped showing that so many people clearly cared for Jojos opinion on them.
Jojo moved for the tubs and pulled out a huge unopened box of 150 condoms and then an identical box with 150 lubes.
The class erupted into cheering and whooping. ”Jojo! Jojo! Jojo!” Everyone started to chant. Amerie snickered as people begin to bang on their desks enthusiastically.
”Yes, you all get the protection so you don’t end up teen parents.” Woodsy said from her spot next to Jojo.
”We obviously can’t keep you all from having sex but we can however make sure you have the right protection to keep you and your partner safe.” Jojo explained as she put her hands back into the tub. “This assignment is to understand the meaning of the words safe sex.” She pulled out a baby. Like an actual baby. “So we’re doing the baby assignment.”
”What is the baby assignment?” Quinni piped up from next to Darren.
”Good question—” Woodsy started but Jojo cut her off.
”The baby assignment is where each couple or single person gets an electronic baby” Not a real baby then. It fucking looked real though. “and needs to care for it, that includes changing the baby’s nappies, feeding the baby, washing the baby and getting the baby to sleep, you will basically have your own baby for the next 45 days of your life and you will care for it like it is your own.” Jojo explained.
”Yes, exactly.” Woodsy nodded along in agreement.
Harper looked at me amused. “This is so stupid.”
”It really is.” Sasha agreed.
”I should have stayed home.” Missy grumbled as she leaned her head against her desk.
”When I call your name please collect your baby and your baby kit.” Jojo said before pulling out a list. “Sasha and Dusty.” Sasha groaned before making her way to the front of the classroom and getting her baby and baby starter kit and then sitting next to Dusty. “Darren and Ant.” Darren and Ant made eye contact for a split second before Darren got up and moved. “Missy and Malakai.” Missy smiled and so did Malakai. “Spider and Amerie.” Fuck. “Harper and Quinni.”
Harpers eyes shone in sympathy. “I’m so sorry Ams.” Harper sighed.
”It’s fine.” Amerie said quickly before getting up and getting the baby and starter kit, she went and sat next to Spider.
Spider moved his chair as far away from Ameries as he possibly could and took the starter kit from Amerie deciding to search through it.
”What’s the point in the condoms Jojo?” Ant asked holding an identical condom to the one in Spiders hand.
”Safe sex.” Jojo repeated with a disappointed sigh.
”But we’ve already got a baby, don’t you think we’ve past the point of condoms?” Ant asked which earned him a few snickers and an amused eyeroll from Jojo.
”It’s never too late for condoms, Ant.” Jojo said.
”In this case I think it is.” Spider said gesturing to the doll Amerie had placed on the desk in front of her.
Jojo moved past Spiders comment with a sigh. “There’s a device in the back of the dolls that grades you, when the baby cries it will give you a certain amount of time to help the baby before points get deducted, yelling deducts points as well, when your baby is hungry, tired or in a dirty napping it will start crying. If you drop your doll points will be deducted. If you turn your doll off you will automatically fail this assignment.” Jojo explained before smiling. “Have fun. I can’t wait to see how you all did in 45 days.”
