Work Text:
The ticking clock masks her quickening heartbeat, and Brian's cottage is dim, save for the faint glow of the fireplace; firewood makes a faint, cackling sound as fire bores through it. There was a vase of buttercups nearby, and it beautifully shines like porcelain would.
He stood on top of her, restraining her wrists with his grip so she wouldn't run away on him. She's below him, and there's a lump she can't swallow as his height towers over hers.
It was so hard to see, the room was so, so dark, but the way Brian looked down on her is so...painful.
"Why won't you stay away?" He asks, but it felt more like he addresses himself more than her. He clenches her wrists harder, it hurts. "Why won't you ever listen?"
"Brian..." Angelique protests, but Brian abrasively cuts her off.
"Forget you ever saw me, Limoges."
Through it all, Angelique is listlessly wordless.
The Queen Candidate heads back to return to the Cosmos, but not before her feet brush by the buttercup fields—she remembered Brian lying on these the first time they met, her heart wrenches.
Angelique gingerly picks up a few stalks to remember him by.
