Work Text:

"...I have never expected you to be by your lonesome at the office right now," Simon ponders as he looks around the office for a number of times now—this isn't his first time visiting the Wright Anything Agency, and it certainly won't be the last; him coming over is such a common occurence that they just let him be, now that he's a free man and all. "Where have Wright-dono and the others gone to?"

Athena frowns his way, and the young woman slumps into the cushiony feel of the sofa, fidgeting with the remote as the visitor walks further into the office.

"Oh, the Boss and Apollo went on some errands, Pearls isn't in town right now, and Trucy is in school," Athena recounts as she taps her chin in thought. "But wait, I thought you said you're gonna stay at home today?"

"I was bored," Simon responds as a matter of fact, grinning as he turns his steps around the sofa Athena sat on, and finally—he sat right next to her. The prosecutor switches glances between the TV and Athena; he raises his brow.

"The Swashbuckling Spectacular again? You must've really loved that series."

Offended by Simon's complaint, Athena protests in turn. "But! All the animals there are cute! Oh—especially Sniper and Rifle! Orla!" She fondly clasps her palms at the thought of the mascot animals.

The chess-colored prosecutor raises his brow, in turn offended at the mention of Rifle. Athena could've sworn Simon scowled under his breath as he inches closer to her.

"Yet, Taka doesn't fit your definition of cute?"

"N-no, that's not it..." Athena gulps, nervously tucking her hair behind her ear; she regrets not having bluffing skills as good as Phoenix's. "T-Taka is pretty cute too! He just needs to uh, attack me less?"

Athena gives a nervous grin, yet Simon isn't convinced. He jabs her side once, then twice. "O-ow! I yield! I yield!" Athena begs before Simon stops.

Though, Simon leans in her ear. "Miss Baby Chick," he whispers, feeling his hot breath against her ear sends chills up her spine. "I recall the veterinarian adorning you with such a hideous monicker."

"B-but it's a cute nickname," Athena insists, huffing as she crosses her arms. "What's so wrong with it?"

"Everything, you dense boor."

"What did I do?!"

And then Simon hesitates for a moment, observing Athena's face twisting into a dejected, teary pout.

Then his lips encompass into a smug grin, his teeth shining like ivory.

"None at all," Simon says in turn, pecking Athena's cheek (her pout becomes milder the moment he does), promptly standing up. "Though I suppose I should head to the Prosecutors' Office, just because. I cannot keep Edgeworth-dono busy for far too long as I've got naught to do."

"I see," Athena frowns again, wishing Simon stayed a little longer. "Take care, though—send Taka my regards too!"

Simon responds with yet another kiss—this time on Athena's lips—his devillish smile is still plastered on his face. "Make sure to bring some of the DVDs home though," he says, ruffling Athena's hair. "Especialy the ones with Rifle and Sniper in them."

"So you admit Rifle and Sniper are pretty cute then?"

"No, Taka reigns superior above any other bird."

Athena playfully rolls her eyes and jabs Simon's side in turn—he coughs and her grin screams payback! through and through.

"Just go already! Don't keep Mr. Edgeworth waiting."

Simon guffaws once more. "You don't have to tell me twice. See you, Miss Baby Chick."

Flustered, Athena sticks her tongue out at Simon as he promptly leaves the office and shuts the door behind him. Although, she wouldn't mind if Simon called her that often though, but knowing him? He'd rather go back to calling her Athena.

As for the Swashbuckling Spectacular...

She eyes the DVD cases sprawled all over the coffee table, and picks them up, sorting out which ones had the penguins and which don't, and maybe ask Apollo and Phoenix if she can take them home in the meanwhile. Surely, Simon would ease more comfortably into watching the series if there were birds in them. Maybe, once they get home.

Notes:

yeah im on crack, lemme pretend simon moved in with athena after he has been set free + him canonically visiting the waa often in the good ending
