The night’s cool air seeps between the curtains of the bedroom’s window. It gusts, cooes, and fills the room with its heavenly midnight kiss. An endearing breeze, those gentle winds sends a loving chill down Pardofelis’s bare spine.
Speaking of, she lies on the bed, her naked body curled against that of Aponia.
Warm. It’s warm.
The two women lie together, basking in the comforts of their shared body heat. Relishing in the glow of their blissful aftermath. Relishing in all that is each other. Arms are wrapped, embracing. Eyes are fixated, heavily and deeply entranced.
[And it will remain that way. Eternally, forever.]
Dual colored eyes find themselves lost in those beautiful pairs of blue, blue, blue.
Blue like the sea. Blue like the sky. Blue that is the Heavens. And blue that is the Earth, the world, her world .
Ah.
Who would have known that being lost in a pair of eyes felt akin to falling into the sea. The sea that envelops you in its embrace, in its hold. The sea that whispers sweet confessions in the form of soft waves and a gentle mist.
Who would have known. Who would have known.
“What’s on your mind, dear?”
Aponia is the first to break their moment of comfortable silence. Her voice is soft, quiet, and oh so reserved when she speaks.
“You.” Pardofelis says a little too quickly. A little too eagerly. A little too honestly. “I-I mean-”
She finds herself blushing, mumbling words and phrases that simply become incoherent. Anything and everything to make up for her embarrassingly instant response.
Aponia only laughs. It’s harmonic, a singsong melody. It makes Pardofelis feel warm inside- her heart and chest becoming swarmed with butterflies.
(She can almost feel it: the fluttering of its little wings. the way they circle around her heart.)
“You’re on my mind too.” Aponia muses. There’s a soft smile on her face and a beautiful glint of hope that radiates in her eyes. “Always.”
Pardofelis finds her cheeks warming again. It nearly burns, fuming red.
Jeez.
There’s a slight flick of her tail and ears, a complete and dead giveaway that she likes what Aponia had said.. That she likes it a little- a lot, and definitely too much. And in the midst of this tell of confessions and likings, Pardofelis finds herself speechless.
Her mouth opens just to close once more. It parts to speak, but words fail to come. She could only make out the slight sighs and squeaks of incomprehensible words.
“Y..You..” Felis begins. But there is nothing that appears to form inside her throat.
Aponia raises a brow. “Me?”
“You!”
“Me.”
“Ahh!!”
Aponia laughs for the second time that night. And Pardofelis, once again, feels that flicker of her ears and tail, that skipping of her heartbeat, and that rush of the blood to her cheeks.
(Truthfully speaking, she’ll never truly get tired of the sound of Aponia’s laughter, of Aponia’s voice, of Aponia’s everything.)
Aponia sounds so beautiful. She feels her chest soar when the thought comes to mind. I love her.
“You seem to only wish to speak of me tonight, hm?” Aponia hums.
“What?! N-No!”
“No?”
“Yes, no! Well- no- I mean— Well, yes . I like talking about you! Of course I do. Why wouldn’t I? I-I mean-”
It’s frantic. Her thoughts, her feelings, her emotions. She can’t seem to think straight— not when Aponia is staring at her like that: attentive, mindful, interested. She can’t seem to think when Aponia’s gazing at her like she’s all the brightest stars in the hush of the night.
[ And maybe she is the stars. Maybe, to Aponia, Pardofelis is the everlasting glow that illuminates the darkness in Aponia’s world. ]
“Pardofelis..” Aponia’s voice comes out in a loving sigh. “You’re.. so endearing like this.”
Oh.
Ba-dump. Ba-dump.
There’s a pounding in Felis’s chest. That sort of thrumming of music that sings only for the woman, the priestess, the goddess before her.
Ba-dump. Ba-dump. Ba-dump.
It beats and beats and beats. It speaks the truths of her love and whispers the confessions she wishes to withhold. However, what is there to hide when she has the woman of her dreams right in front of her? What tales of infatuation, of affection, and of more more more are there to lock away when Pardofelis is already embraced by the warmth of Aponia’s arms. Of Aponia’s heart?
A particularly cold breeze makes its way past the windows. Its air tickles at Pardofelis’s skin- peppering goosebumps along her arms and sides as if to urge her into obvious truths. Strangely, the cold air makes her heart race even more.
“Aponia..”
“Hm?”
“..Nothing.” Those chills run further along her skin. Almost biting. Almost pleading.
“Are you sure?”
“…No?”
Aponia chuckles. It’s cute. Adorable. And Pardofelis very much would like to kiss her right now.
“You can tell me what’s on your mind.”
Pardofelis huffs. Her cheeks are fuming. There’s sweat running down her neck. She feels embarrassed, nervous. Then, with eyes closed, she takes a deep breath, “Can’t you just read my mind?”
“Now where’s the fun in that?” Aponia smiles. “I’d much rather hear it from your lips.”
Pardofelis gasps with a surprised jolt. “So you can read minds?!”
Aponia only hums. “I didn’t say that.”
“Yes you did!”
“No, I did not.”
“Yes!”
“No.”
“Yes!”
“No.”
“Yes!”
Aponia raises a teasing brow, “.. Yes? ”
“No!” Pardofelis exclaims. “Wait! I mean yes! You-! You tricked me! Ahh!!”
Another frustrated scream. Another frustrated groan. Pardofelis begins to grumble to herself and grumbles even more when Aponia smiles all too amusingly at her antics.
“I’m only messing with you my dear.” Aponia speaks whilst tightening her embrace. “My apologies.”
“Hmph!” Pardofelis makes a noise of annoyed disapproval. Yet she melts into the embrace regardless, nuzzling closer towards her lover. Seeking her warmth. Seeking her care.

.
.
Comfortable silence passes by.
Pardofelis feels the weight and need for sleep begin to take over her. But she doesn’t allow the much needed rest to make its way quite yet.
“Aponia?” Pardofelis whispers.
“Yes, darling?”
The endearment makes her heart flutter.
“Nothing.” She says, and tucks her head into the crook of Aponia’s neck. “I just..” Her words melt into incoherent mumbles.
Aponia smiles softly. “I’m afraid I didn’t quite hear you.. You just, what?”
Pardofelis sighs and pushes her head further against Aponia’s skin. “I just wanted to say that I love you.”
Aponia smiles once more.
“I love you too.”
“No-“ Pardofelis takes a breath, “I mean I really love you. I love you so much. I love you everyday. I love you when I see you and I love you when I don’t. I love you all the time.”
Aponia chuckles. “And I don’t?”
“W-Well!” Pardofelis flushes. “I-I don’t know...”
“Then know.” Aponia reassures.
“I love you. Know that, Pardofelis. I really love you. I love you so much. Everyday. When I see you. When I don’t. I love you all the time , and I love you even when time ceases to exist.”
Aponia presses a tender kiss upon Pardofelis’s head. She does that, and awaits a response. Time passes. Seconds to one minute. None comes. Instead, Pardofelis fakes her slumber. She keeps her eyes shut and her breathing still.
Aponia simply lets her. After all, she does not need a vocal response, for the thoughts in Pardofelis’s head are enough words to be said:
Thank you Aponia. Thank you for loving me.
