Work Text:
Amanda hadn’t gotten any sleep since she and Angela argued. She keeps replaying the moments in her head, the crying, the yelling, but most importantly when out of anger she told Angela “Maybe we aren’t going to work out.” She regretted it the minute she said it. The hurt behind Angela’s tear filled eyes, she didn’t ever intend to hurt Angela, she couldn’t even believe what she had just done. As soon as Amanda said that, Angela walked to the door and managed to say, “If that's what you think, then so be it.” So now, there was no Amanda and Angela. And Amanda was furious with herself. She hadn’t seen Angela since then, she hasn’t shown up to work, and she hasn’t been in their apartment since then.
Angela hadn’t stopped crying, from the moment their argument over Angela’s communication skills began, to the moment she showed up at Chanse’s apartment, with Spork in hand. “Did I ruin it all, Chanse? Did I? I don’t know why I said that. She was right. I suck at communicating. I suck so bad that I couldn’t even say “That hurt me.” I just left and basically ended things. What am I going to do, Chanse?” And maybe she should have called Chanse and warned him she was coming over, but she didn’t, so it shocked him when she showed up rambling and crying. “Ange, it’s going to be okay, alright? Call in for a few days off, it’s not a shoot week. While you’re off, try to come up with a way you can make this work. You'll need to communicate eventually.” He told her. Angela nodded and sniffed, tears still streaming, but she could only really hope that she could in some way salvage what she just ruined.
By now, Amanada was a wreck. It had been a week since Angela ended things, and she had only gotten maybe 6 hours of sleep in total. She knew she looked a wreck, but still tried to hide her pain behind makeup and cute hairstyles. But she didn’t know how much longer she could pull off the “I’m okay, it’s going to be okay.” mentality. Because obviously, she was not okay, and she didn’t feel like it would ever be okay. She wanted to reach out to Angela, but wasn’t sure if Anglea would even let her. She hadn’t told anyone about what had happened, and if anyone questioned her on where Angela had been, she tried to escape the conversation as fast as she could.
Eventually, Amanda realized she couldn’t keep things this way, no contact with Angela, she needed to fix things. She needed her Angela back. She didn’t want things to end without her at least trying to repair it. Amanda didn’t want Angela to think that what she said was true, it could never be true. She picked up her phone and searched for Angela’s contact. Smiling at the silly picture of Angela and Spork for a minute, then pressing the call button.
It was around 11PM when Angela got the call. She had basically been rotting on Chanse’s couch since she left her and Amanda’s apartment a week ago. She quickly grabbed her phone, hoping it would be Amanda, even though every call she had gotten wasn’t Amanda she still had an undying hope it was. And luckily, this time it was. She slid the answer icon as fast as she could, “Hello?’ she said, listening to the heavy breathing on the other end while waiting for a reply, “Angela?” Amanda finally managed to spit out, “Yeah?” Again a pause of silence and just breathing,“Can you come home? Please. We need to talk. I.. I can’t lose you like this, please just come home, we can work it out.” Angela sighed, a relieved sigh. "Of course, I’ll be there in 20 minutes okay?” Amanda let out a breath “Okay.”
Angela arrived at their apartment in 20 minutes, like she said she would. She walked up the flight of stairs and knocked. “Amanda? It’s me, I’m here. I brought Spork, I hope that’s okay. I didn’t want to leave him alone.” As soon as she finished her sentence the door flew open, revealing Amanda, but not the Amanda she knew, or at least the Amanda she was used to. Instead, she revealed an obviously distressed Amanda, with horrible eye bags, and messy hair held back in a bun. “Oh, Amanda.” Angela said, a warm comforting tone in her voice. “Oh, uh, yeah come in.” Amanda said, offering a pathetic smile and opening the door wider for Angela. As soon as both of them were situated on the couch Amanda began speaking. “Ange, I’m sorry. Like, really, really sorry. I fucked up, I get that. I said shit I didn't mean just because I was angry. I love you so much. And I just can’t lose you. I understand if you won’t forgive me. I just need you to know I didn’t mean what I said.” and by the time she finished rambling, Amanda was crying.
Without thinking, Angela quickly reached a hand up to Amanda’s face and whipped away her tears. “No, I’m sorry. I don’t want us to be over. That’s the last thing I would ever want. You mean so much to me, and these last few days without you were torture. You were right about my communication issues, what you said hurt me and instead of telling you it hurt, I left. I love you more than anything else in this world, and I can’t live without you.” Angela was crying now too, she let out a shaky laugh. She knew she was bad at things like this, but everything she had just said came so naturally, and she let the words spill out of her mouth, not stopping anything until she felt like there was nothing left to say. Amanda smiled at her and returned her shaky laugh.
Before the two of them knew it, their lips had met. A slow, passionate kiss that shared more emotion than any words could ever share. The love and dedication behind the kiss showed each other just how much they missed and needed each other. Eventually they pulled away, out of breath. “So we’re us again?” Amanda asked, a flicker of worry behind her eyes, that Angela might say no, but Angela smiled and nodded her head, “We’re us again.” Amanda smiled in response, “I missed you so, so much, baby. You have no idea.” She said, planting kisses all over her face. “I even missed Spork too.” Amanda whispered, Angela laughed and kissed her girlfriend once again, “I missed you too. I’m so glad you called. I’m so glad you’re back.” And with that, they spent the rest of the night cuddled up together in bed, falling in and out of sleep, that they very much needed to catch up on.
