Summary
There are three things constant in life: life, death, and Victoria Javadi’s need to be perfect.
Victoria Javadi knows how to succeed. She knows how to meet expectations, follow the rules, and never step out of line.
What she doesn’t know how to do is want something she shouldn’t.
Especially when that something is Cassie McKay.

Summary
Safi appears in the doorway, glancing between Amanda and Max with an arched eyebrow. "My, what's this? Secret meetings without little old me?"
There’s the familiar teasing lilt to Safi’s voice, but the look on her face is otherwise unreadable as she makes her way over to Max’s side. “Hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
“Max and I were just making some plans. I was asking if she wanted to go out with me tonight…”
“Oh? Do tell,” Safi speaks, in a tone that indicates challenge more than anything else.
And as if things weren't weirdly tense enough, Safi draws herself closer into Max’s space, slipping an arm around the other woman’s waist, with a grip that’s far too territorial to be just friendly. A movement much louder than any words.
Well. That’s new.
The universe grants Max another chance to save her dead best friend. She crosses over to a world where Safi is her very much alive girlfriend instead.

Summary
“I don’t know what you want me to say, Zosia,” Carol admitted, exasperated. “That I feel like I’m walking on eggshells around you? That I feel like I owe it to you to be a little nicer? That I feel guilty for taking advantage of you while you weren’t really yourself?”
Zosia huffed. “So you decided that giving me this half-assed version of yourself was going to absolve you of your previous shitty behavior?”
Carol didn’t know what to do except shrug.
“I know you,” Zosia said slowly. “Intimately and against my will. You were shoved into my molecules, my pores. I know the fire you keep in your belly. I know you stoke it yourself. I know you swallow coals and timber just to keep yourself going, however unpleasant it may be.”
A cold sweat broke across Carol’s neck. She remained silent.
“It’s not going to… make me feel better if you repress that side of yourself with the intention of pacifying me,” Zosia continued. “It makes me feel guilty, for whatever reason, and feeling guilty about you is the last thing I need right now. Or ever. You don’t deserve my guilt. Not after everything.”
### OR ###
Yet another rendition of the aftermath of Carol and Manousos un-hiving Zosia.

Summary
“I’m, like… twice your age.” Cassie huffs out a chuckle as she takes another sip of her drink, eyes never leaving Victoria.
Victoria would say it’s because she’s drunk, her brain a half-second behind her mouth, “That’s hot, no?”
Cassie barks out a laugh, leaning forward against the bar, enough to catch others' attention.
...
When the laughter dies down, Cassie exhales, elbow sliding onto the bar as she props her cheek in her palm, taking another languid sip.
“No,” Cassie says.
Then, after a moment of silence, their eyes still locked, Cassie continues, voice quieter “That’s usually the part where it gets complicated.”
Or,
Citygirl Victoria Javadi is head-over-heels for her friend's neighbor back home, Cassie Mckay, who just happens to be the hottest Rancher she has ever met. (She's only met one her entire life)
