“Optimisation system complete. Mission engage.”
The computer beeped across the hallway with its annoying startup sound. Darcy flinched up and opened their eyes, looking around with a confused look. Where was Andrias? Weren’t they supposed to practice invading Earth today? Darcy looked and looked, but didn’t see him. They wobbled off the couch, and noticed cupcakes. Red velvet with ube frosting!
“Num! Red velvet! Marcy’s fave!” Darcy chirped, gobbling them up messily, the frosting flying onto their face.
After they finished up, they walked across the hallway, well, more like toddled. Darcy felt weird today, like something had changed. They felt, tiny and alone. They wanted to hug someone right now and read a book with said person. Darcy continued walking, before bumping into Andrias, falling to the ground on their rump.
“Oh, rebooted already?” Andrias asked, before cringing at the way Darcy looked. Ube frosting all over their face. “Seems like you already ate-“ before Andrias could say anything, Darcy started wailing.
“We FeLl DoWnNnN!!” They cried, kicking their legs as they sobbed.
This was… odd, to say the least. Andrias was confused. Why was Darcy crying? If they fell, they usually just said “Oh heck!” And stood back up. Andrias held out a hand for Darcy to take.
“There we go, did it.. hurt?” Andrias asked, mildly confused.
“Mhmmmm..” Darcy whined.
“Well, it’s over now, right? Come on, let’s get to practice.” Andrias said his last sentence coldly.
Darcy didn’t wanna practice invading Earth. Infact, they didn’t wanna do anything under command today. Darcy stood where they were and shook their head.
“We don’t feel like it today.” Darcy complained.
Andrias tilted his head. What was up with Darcy? Was The Core messed up? Did the reboot fail? Andrias walked over towards Darcy with a slight annoyed look.
“I said come on. If we wanna start invading Earth soon, we have to practice.”
Darcy stayed still with a pout, crossing their arms as they tried to stay steady while they wobbled a bit. Still getting used to this human body.
“You aren’t being very nice to us! We don’t wanna!!” Darcy wailed.
Darcy started crying again, falling onto their rump as they kicked their legs. They cried and wailed and screamed, it was piercing loud and quite glitchy in tone. Andrias rolled his eyes, what was their deal today? Darcy never acted like this. But when he came to think of it, Marcy acted like this. Marcy would take days off of the Newtopian battles and would regress. Often times with Olivia and Yunan. Andrias knew of this and was fine with it, he didn’t really give a damn. Andrias kneeled down to eye level with Darcy, although Darcy did not make eye contact back.
“Okay, fine. I’ll let you take a break, but that’s it. Tomorrow we practice. Got it?” He asked, pretty annoyed at this point.
Darcy stopped crying, and took some time to just calm down on the floor, before standing up shakily. Standing up was a usual pain in the back, not being treated correctly in the stab wound. Andrias wiped Darcy clean from tears, alongside the mess from the cupcakes.
“You’re really messy.” Andrias said, as Darcy just laughed as the wipe tickled them.
Andrias threw the wipe in the bin, and lead them to the room Marcy would stay in. It hadn’t been entered in months now. Darcy took some time to look around, before gasping.
“Vagabondia chwonicles! Mawcy love that game!” Darcy lisped while speaking, seemingly getting small.
Although Andrias was pissed at this, he couldn’t help but find the whole thing adorable. Darcy jumped on the bed, causing a mess as they just laughed. Meanwhile, Andrias left the room, he felt… strange. Was this guilt? Was he.. feeling guilty?
He wasn’t sure, but he kept on walking away from the doorway. He couldn’t bear to see Darcy now.
“We are jumping, up and down! Hop Hop Hop, We don’t have a frown!” Darcy sang to themselves.
Shortly after, Darcy got tired from jumping. They just laid in Marcy’s bed, looking around. They noticed items on the nearby desk, including a picture of Anne. Darcy took the picture and examined it.
“We were hardly ever friends! You betwayed us! You… you meanie!” Darcy threw the picture onto the floor, causing it to break.
Darcy took heavy breaths, they felt so small and tiny. They just wanted Mama and Mommy. They wanted Olivia and Yunan, they didn’t want this. All they wanted was to be cuddling up with Mama, drinking from their Sippy cup while Anne kissed her little cheeks. Darcy missed her so much. Darcy silently sobbed, although you could hear it across the hallway. The sobbing was broken and glitchy. They hiccuped and just cried in bed.
“Anna banana.. we sowwy.” Darcy whined. All they wanted now was Anne’s hugs. Just their mama there to help.
Darcy slid off the bed to pick up the picture, not touching the shards of glass that had broken apart. Then climbed back up to bed and hugged the picture close towards them.
“Mama, we miss you.”

“Mama, I miss you.” Marcy said.
They were currently in the bedroom of their fantasy land. This was all they ever wanted, right? Marcy just leaned on the walls and sobbed. This wasn’t like they expected it would be. Sure, Marcy experienced awesome fantasies like in anime shows and adventure games, but all they wanted now was to meet Mama and Mommy again.
“Sasha, Anne. I’m so sorry.” They cried.

Darcy must have fell asleep at some moment, because next thing they knew, they woke up. They examined the clock on the wall and read it as 2AM. It was dark outside, very dark. It was rainy and the sky was a tinge of red. And since Darcy did get some of Marcy’s quirks, It meant they were scared of the dark, being alone. It wasn’t good. Darcy quietly sobbed at the view and whined. They were alone. Mama wasn’t here to scare the dark away, Mommy wasn’t here to give them kisses. They wanted Sasha and Anne back. But did they really? Examining through Marcy’s thoughts, it’s hard to believe they ever really cared.
“Mamaaaa! Mamaaaaaa!!” Darcy glitched out, their voice being a tinge of robot-ish and glitching. Their voice was rusty from all the crying.
Darcy toddled out of bed but fell face first onto the floor, causing them to cry even more. They stood back up and tip toed across the hallway. They didn’t wanna be alone. Not anymore. Darcy soon got towards a familiar bedroom and opened the door, seeing Andrias. Andrias slightly woke up from his slumber, confused.
“Darcy, what time is it?” He questioned.
“Can we sleep with you tonight?” Darcy didn’t answer the question back, but just frowned.
Andrias sighed, patting a spot on his bed for Darcy to sleep. Darcy clumsily climbed up the bed, The Core wasn’t used to this unusual body but alas, they got up onto the huge bed. Darcy smiled and curled up into a little ball, like they usually did when sleeping with Anne. Andrias couldn’t help but smile, tucking them in as he went to sleep himself.
Darcy fell asleep again soon after, and this time slept the whole night. Today was a weird day. But it was nice for The Core to be able to relax. Perhaps this new body wasn’t so bad at all.
