This popped into my mind after going on a Buffy crossover reading binge. What's funny is that I never really had any interest in BtVS series before my eleven year old started watching it...multiple times...and I kept catching various scenes and she then would share different episodes with me. So, of course, I decided to watch it so I could know what she was talking about. LOL

I'll be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with it, especially from Season 5 on, the writing could've been so much better. BUT! Fanfiction, especially crossovers, are another beast entirely! I've found quite a bit to read and have enjoyed most of them very much. After reading crossovers with Supernatural, Harry Potter, Fast and the Furious, Sanctuary and Avengers; this plot bunny hopped right in. :)

This is my first BtVS ever and I hope I do the characters justice. Thanks for reading! Stay safe and love to you all!

Disclaimer: I make no money with this.

Forewarning Banner

BtVS & HP

Giles, Buffy, Xander and Willow were sitting in the library trying to research yet another baddie and not having much luck. As they all reached for another book to peruse, their attention was drawn to a soft white light between them and the doors. As they stopped what they were doing, each one saw a young woman appear, she was see-through but quite pretty. Her face was serene yet held a world weariness they knew too well; someone who had seen too much too young. Then the vision spoke and had their undivided attention.

"Alexander Harris, ordinary yet extraordinary, the one who sees, beware of religious men who are more than they seem."

"Willow Rosenberg, the grief stricken black witch, love is beautiful and all-consuming but the price for such joy can be great pain. You must learn to let go or risk becoming that which you fight."

"Buffy Summers, Vampire Slayer Extraordinaire. You must allow yourself to become so much more. Remember, appearances can be very deceiving, not everyone are as they appear. Fear not death, for it is a friend, not an enemy."

"Rupert Giles, leader, Watcher, guiding hand yet you allow others to twist your will for their own agenda, a false sense of control. You must see what is in front of you or all your efforts will be for naught."

"Who are you?" Buffy inquired.

"A friend, fellow warrior, a messenger." Luna smiled as she faded. "Heed my words, for they are true." then she was gone.

As the three friends sat there dumbfounded, Giles snapped out of his stupor first and wrote down what the young blond had said to each of them.

"What the hell, Giles?" Buffy exclaimed.

"Who was that? Was it real?" Willow wanted to know.

"Can demons do that?" Xander wondered.

"I don't know." Giles answered as he looked though the books closest to him before going up the stairs to try to find a book to help explain what had just happened.

HP & BtVS

As Luna sat in her cell at Malfoy Manor, she felt a presence unlike any other. She had been kidnapped two weeks ago to force her father to report to the DeathEaters if Public Enemy #1, a.k.a. Harry Potter, showed up.

She had been rough handled and barely fed but her captivity was a breeze compared to everyone else. As she sat on the cold stone floor, knees pulled up to her chin, Luna knew there was someone or something there with her but unlike those around her, who or whatever this was, gave her a peaceful feeling.

"Hello" she said. "Have you come to take me away?" Luna asked.

Instead of an answer, Luna felt the response, no.

"That's okay, I don't mind." she stated. "I'm not being treated like everyone else and my classmate sneaks extra food to me when he can."

Then, in her mind, she heard, You will be fine, child.  You will survive.

"Oh, thank you for telling me that." Luna smiled.

It was at that moment Draco Malfoy stepped into the dungeon.

"Who are you talking to, Luna? I brought you some food." Draco stated as he pulled a bundle out of his robes and handed it to her.

"Thank you, Draco." Luna said as she took the food. There was an apple, a chunk of cheese and a roll. She nibbled on them a bit before she was asked again.

"Luna, who were you talking to just before I came in?" Draco was concerned the flighty Ravenclaw was losing touch with reality. He had stopped calling her "Loony Lovegood" the second day she was there. She had been the one to instigate conversations at first, not blaming him for her situation and they had chatted many times over the last two weeks.

Even though she appeared to be in her own little world, Draco had learned there wasn't much the petite blond missed. He would miss her when she was finally released, the only bright spot in his living hell.

Instead of answering, Luna looked to his right, "Will he be okay?" she asked.

He will survive the War. Was told to her.

"Am I allowed to tell him?" she asked.

You may. Came her answer.

Draco's concern ratcheted up several notches during her, seemingly, one sided conversation. However, the smile she gave him lit up his soul with more warmth than he had felt in too long.

"Wonderful news, Draco! You'll survive the War!" Luna shared brightly.

Draco stared at her a moment, doubt marring his features but he found himself wanting to believe her.

"Will I now?" he asked instead.

"It's okay if you don't believe me." Luna told him.

Draco found himself studying her for a moment before he spoke, "I don't know why, but I feel your words are true."

Luna smiled before she cocked her head as if listening to someone speak then her eyes moved like she was watching something. Draco kept quiet as Luna communed with something he couldn't see or near. He watched as a myriad of emotions crossed her angelic face, wondering what the cause was.

Meanwhile, Luna watched as a group of four people, two females and two males, battled vampires and demons. She was shown snippets of their futures, one with many shadow and pitfalls but so much love and happiness if the right path was chosen.

When the images stopped, Luna blinked slowly, "Why did you show me?"

When the time is right, Luna Lovegood, you will forewarn them of things to come. You cannot tell them exactly what you saw but warn them nonetheless.

"I understand. Thank you for choosing me." Luna stated before she asked, "I will know when the time is right?"

Of course, child. We must leave you now, someone approaches. Be well, Luna Lovegood.

Then the presence was gone. Luna sighed, "You should go, Draco, someone's coming."

Draco snapped his eyes to hers and listened. It was several long seconds before he heard the door to the dungeon open. He raised a brow at Luna, who was back to the dreamy look, and allowed a small smile before he melded to the shadows and quietly left before he could be seen.

HP & BtVS

It took Giles almost a week to find any text that might explain what had happened in the library and then the text was very vague. What he could tell, the visit was most likely meant as a warning for them all from the Powers-That-Be. He had read the text multiple times to try to see if there was anything else he could pick up on, even slightly, to no avail.

As he read over what the image, ghost, mirage...whatever it was, had said to each of them, he couldn't help but frown. Why had she said what she did? Without much context, how were they to take the words spoken?

Giles pulled his glasses off to rub his eyes as he stretched in his chair. The kids had been bugging him about the visit and he really had nothing new to tell them. He was hoping it was just as he took it, a warning of things to come.

For his part, he knew he didn't agree with everything the Watcher's Council did yet he went along with them anyway. However, there was one practice he wouldn't be doing, the Tento di Cruciamentum. He knew he wasn't the only one to disagree with the test but, he had a feeling, he would be the first one to not do it. If the Council thought Buffy was unfit to be the Slayer, after stopping an apocalypse, then they would just have to deal with it, as the kids would say. She had more than proven herself to him.

Giles also knew that refusing to perform the test would most likely get him fired but it would be worth it. Buffy Summers was the most unusual Slayer that he had ever met. Unlike many, she hadn't been trained from a young age, not taken from her family, her friends. She had balked when her first Watcher had approached her, which was only natural. It was an unbelievable world they lived in and she was a spoiled little brat and quite shallow (her words) before being thrown into the world of darkness.

As Giles pondered the words spoken, he decided the best course of action would be to take them at face value.

It didn't surprise Giles that the vision, for he couldn't think of a better word for it, had called Xander ordinary yet extraordinary. The young man had surprised Giles the last two years with his ability to fight alongside his friend. He had helped with ideas on several occasions and had managed to stay alive. Xander had taken hits but kept getting back up, not to mention, it was Xander who had resuscitated Buffy after the Master had drowned her. He wondered what the woman meant by religious men who were more than they seemed. Like it or not, that sounded really ominous.

Then there was Willow. She was always ready to help Giles research and knew her way around a computer. He also knew she was dabbling in magic. He wasn't sure what would cause her so much grief that she would become a black witch but apparently, something would. He would have to keep an eye out for that. Would Oz be cause for such a change in the vibrant young woman or would it be another reason? Sadly, only time would tell but he would be there for her when it happened as best as he could.

The most concerning was the vision's words to Buffy. Giles couldn't argue that she was indeed an extraordinary Slayer but why tell her to not fear death? Or that appearances can be deceiving, as if they hadn't already encountered that. What appearance would need such caution? Then there was allowing herself to be more than she was. Well, Giles had already been trying to tell the Slayer that since he met her but maybe the vision's words would do what his had yet to. There was so much more to Buffy than being the Slayer yet she tried to deny it all. He understood how it must be quite frustrating for someone so young to be tapped for such a violent path but there was no choice, she was the Slayer.

However, as Giles thought about this, he knew Kendra was the Slayer since Buffy's short death but there wasn't any deception to her. She was as straightforward as one could get. So what or who did that warning apply to? Shaking off his thoughts for a moment, Giles closed his book and headed to bed, maybe with a clearer mind, things would look better.
