They were taking a walk around the royal gardens to escape the ball for a bit when Jason suddenly stopped and got down on one knee. “Danny,” he started as he pulled out a ring. Danny gasped as tears filled his eyes.
“You, make me whole." He began. "When I first saw you, I was a husk, I was trapped in by the pit rage. I fell for you the first time I saw you, You calmed the rage. You were always patient during an episode, Without you, I don’t know where my life would have headed. At that time I didn’t know what I wanted with my life. I was a husk, not even searching for meaning. You brought that into my life. You make me want to continue living. So Danny, will you marry me?”
“Yes” Danny Said choking back tears. Jason got up, slipped the ring on Danny’s finger and kissed him.
Once he pulled back from the kiss he took a closer look at the ring. It was a platinum band with a nebula imbedded into it. “It’s beautiful.” Danny whispered.
When they returned to the ball It was considerably later.
“May I have this dance?” Jason inquired. “Of course.” Replied Danny. The two spent hours on end dancing with each other. Finally the ball was coming to an end.
As is customary the king was to close a ball with any announcements he or she might have if they didn’t have any they were to bid farewell to the attendees.
Meaning that the engagement was to be announced.
“Thank you all for coming,” Danny began. “As some of you may know I have been with Jason for over two years now. He has been the best part of these last two years for me. And tonight we got engaged. Good night and have a safe flight home.”
If Bruce cried when they eventually told Jason’s family no one had to know.
