Chapter Text
Tim was forced to a group training session, which he found pointless and cut into his napping time but he still went with no complaint. Dick had said it was mandatory.
The large summary of young heroes was split into three groups, Tim was with Roy who only came occasionally and wasn't even on the team, Blue Beetle, who was a man not made for hand-to-hand combat but the older heroes still made him go, Bart, who relied on his speed way too much, but it was reasonable and La'gaan, who he didn't really talk too much, like at all except that one time he bumped into Lagoon boy on accident while he was grabbing a can of his favourite energy drink from the fridge.
Tim was literally the only hero here who had no powers and relied on martial arts and gadgets. ' Well shit, I might have a chance.' The person who was running his group was Black Canary, who was someone Tim could work with as a teacher.
"Kid Flash, you're first," Black Canary says and Tim raises a brow.
"Okay!" Bart says with odd enthusiasm.
"Try and take me down," she says.
"Okay, gorgeous," Bart says with a wink and speeds in for an attack, Tim shakes his head as his head calculates the result with fail.
After seconds, Bart has been put onto the ground with ease, Black canary shows no sign of struggle and helps him up before tilting her head.
"Can someone tell me what he did wrong?" She inquires, and before Tim can speak, La'gaan speaks up.
"He hit on the teacher, duh," he says and Black Canary smiles but her eyes show a pained look.
"Uh-huh, Robin, why don't you tell me?" Black Canary asks with a smirk like she knows the answer already, Tim raises a brow in question and nods.
"He used a too common and obvious tactic among Speedsters and didn't use his weight as he could've, he left himself open and was too cocky," Tim says, a beat of silence goes through the area, Black Canary chuckles with an unsaid 'case closed', Roy says something about how unsurprising it is because he's a bat and Jamie looks like he's arguing with himself, he's probably arguing with Khaji Da now that Tim thinks of it.
"I think Khaji Da likes you, amigo," Jamie says, Tim smiles in amusement.
"Can't believe I got the scarab to like me," Tim says, Roy chuckles.
"Robin, you can go next. You're probably the most experienced in hand-to-hand combat out of everyone in this group," Black Canary says, Tim hesitates but nods.
Tim got ready as he stood in front of the woman, she gave him a coy smile and told him what she had instructed Bart to do earlier.
Tim and Black Canary circled each other, and then Tim went in for an attack, but Canary easily avoided it.
The fight continued, circling and waiting for an opportunity before Tim had somehow managed to kick Canary off her feet and onto the ground. He sheepishly smiled and helped the woman up.
"Great job, Robin," she says simply, Tim smiles bashfully at the praise.
"Dude that was so crash!" Bart said with enthusiasm.
"Thanks," Tim said.
"That was crash, indeed amigo. The scarab even praised your skill, he definitely likes you," Jamie said.
"Wow, I knew I was a miracle in the making but wow," Tim says thoughtfully.
Roy smirks.
"That was pretty good, sometimes I forget you and the bats do hand-to-hand combat and not just gadgets," Roy praises.
"I feel like that's what everyone thinks of the bats," Tim says.
