Work Text:
You've been getting recommendations that always lead to a song/cover/musical artist and lyricist named Chonny Jash from one of your friends. One day, you decide "Why not?" and take a look at his Spotify profile.
You find yourself immediately lost in the lyrics. "Wait! No, please, wait!" shout the characters of the album, begging when you play the first song of Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium in order because shuffle is an ass setting; resetting the loop. You drift out of reality, imagining the lyrics and what this would look like in an animatic.
That is... before the second song begins to play, and all you hear is "Endlessly, helplessly, ceaselessly, callously-"
There's not much music flooding your senses yet, so you can hear a shaky inhale that is uncomfortably close through your headphones. You're probably just imagining things. You are procrastinating on your prescrip-
"Chonny Jash!?" exclaims the voice, trying not to be too loud, just barely holding their excitement.
You immediately jolt away and tear the headphones off, looking at the unknown entity. Holy shit!?
"H-How did you get in my house...?" "You left the doggy door open," the entity replies cheerily with a smile, as if that was completely normal and would calm you down.
Alright, there’s still a chance that you’re just hallucinating. It’s probable, considering you’ve been talking to yourself in a group chat with only you in it and inviting your ‘imaginary friend’ to direct messages.
Apologies, the author is projecting. Continuing on-
“Uh…” This is such an incredibly strange situation. “What are you doing in my house?”
You get no response to that. Instead, the entity states the obvious. “You were listening to Chonny Jash,” they say while grinning and walking past you, grabbing your phone and putting your headphones on to resume listening to Dream (Outro from Calamity).
They put the phone up to your face and paused on the previous lyrics.
‘(Endlessly, helplessly, ceaselessly, callously)
(Senselessly, tactlessly, fractally, haplessly)’
“That’s so you when you find out I dropped a nuclear bomb in your living room that’s going to explode in approximately 20 seconds, blowing us both to smithereens; united upon this symphony.”
The entity unplugs the headphones and presses play on the song, leaving you to get lost in the music for a moment.
‘Panic at the thought of what the thought will bring (slow)
Apathy, entropy , agony, ecstasy
(Agony, tragedy, patterned duality )
In who to be when we unleash all these harmonies’ maladies (old, sick)
(Haptically grappling me, backing the apathy)
(Happenings hardly seem happening in insanity )
I don't know if I can go another round of cacophony (cold)
My sympathy’s draining me dry (heart)’
Then, you process what they said.
“You what-”
You and your new-found friend blow up into smithereens and the last song both of you had ever listened to was the second song of CCCC, before being blasted into the afterlife.
Guess you could tell them Chonny sent you.
