Work Text:
Aerith sighed as she turned off the engine of her car, grabbing her purse and stepping out. She was a bit worn out from the day. Work was pretty hectic. It was the holiday week, which meant that people were cramming to buy flowers for the occasion. Now that she was home, she could enjoy a relaxing weekend off with her two favorite people in the world.
As she approached the front door, she could hear music from inside. She cocked an eyebrow, retrieving her keys. "Hmm..?" Gently, she pushed the door open, trying not to make too much noise. Wanting to see what was going on.
Flap, flap, flap! Without a care!
Flap, flap, flap! Hop in the air!
Flap, flap, flap! Them Chocobo wings!
Kweh, kweh! You're doing great!
Cloud was standing in front of Denzel's baby seat, dancing like a complete idiot. Flapping his arms up and down. Dancing to one of those obnoxious songs from a TV show Denzel was obsessed with. The baby boy laughed hard, his chubby face turning red as he clapped his hands.
Instantly, Aerith grabbed her phone from her pocket and began to record. Holding a hand up to her mouth, to suppress any incoming laughter. She was not about to risk losing this precious moment to time. This important piece of history must be archived, after all.
Shake your feathers, do a twirl!
Come on now, do a whirl!
Kweh, kweh, let's do it all again!
Cloud laughed as he moved to the music, making a few funny faces to keep Denzel entertained. Clearly working, given the baby boy was still laughing his head off. The chorus repeats, and Cloud starts flapping his arms once more. "Wark, kweh!" Doing his best to imitate the characters that were flashing on the TV, with his own little spin on the moves.
Aerith couldn't take it anymore, stopping the recording. She burst out laughing, kneeling over and putting her hands on her knees.
Cloud jumped, whirling around quickly. His face morphed into a shade of pink, and he frowned in embarrassment. "Aerith... Um. I...I didn't hear you come home." He backs up near the couch, scrambling for the remote to turn the song off.
"You sure got some moves, mister!" Aerith chortles, wiping a tear from her eye. "That was a fantastic performance! Better than the Honeybee Inn one by far!"
"Don't bring that up."
Denzel gurgles and grins, wiggling in his chair. Excited to see his mama.
"Hi, baby boy! Was dada keeping you busy? Hmm? Was daddy being silly?" She walked over, lifting him up and holding him close.
"Yeah.." Cloud rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. "He was fussy as hell earlier, couldn't get him to calm down. So, I...put on music."
"I see." Aerith kissed him on the cheek. "Well, that really made my day! Thank you, work was a little chaotic today. I'll talk about it in a bit, gonna wash up and prepare dinner."
Aerith was folding up some laundry, humming softly. Dammit, that tune was stuck in her head now. Why were songs from kids shows so damn catchy?
Then, a voice rang out from upstairs.
"Aerith! Did you send a video of my dancing to the group chat?"
