Work Text:
Things were definitely weird.
Right? Kagami sometimes thought he was the insane one, by this point. He was surrounded by such personalities, but at least they didn’t pay much attention to him.
He was flying under the radar. He was just Kagami Arata. A disposable apprentice. One that wasn’t picked by a Zecter until much later, and when he was before that, he relinquished his right to it. Not worth a second glance for most of these people.
And of course, Tendou was the weirdest of them all.
Tendou was full of himself to an absurd degree, and it would have been easier to say he was full of shit but sadly, he wasn’t.
What he was though, was very annoying.
Extremely annoying.
And to finish things off, he was a great cook.
Allegedly.
He still couldn’t eat the food he cooked.
Maybe that’s what the point he came over for, but then things got very busy, They had to go out, there was a Worm, and then it got apparently too late for cooking and eating, and Kagami was just tired.
“I’ll just go home.”
“Nonsense,” Tendou said. “The weather is too dangerous to just wander around. Grandmother once said - one who does not have enough sleep, will not be able to face the sun the next day.”
Kagami let out a big sigh, and even Jyuka just beamed a little, lifting her own finger almost in tandem with her brother, before she disappeared. Probably to her bedroom.
“Wouldn’t want to impose.”
“You think I would offer, if you’d impose?” Tendou raised an eyebrow.
That was fair.
Tendou seemed to never do what he didn’t want to do.
So… why not?
Might as well, especially as there was a loud thunder outside.
He thought he would just. Be put into one of the guest rooms. There had to have been a guest room right? At least one? This house was big enough.
But this was not what he expected.
Not what he expected at all.
Because through a series of frankly untraceable events, he found himself wearing one of Tendou’s shirts and his own boxers while in the same bed with Tendou, and having Tendou wrapped around his back.
…he had no idea how he ended up here.
But Tendou was Tendou, and after showing him the shower and just— it almost took Kagami a few moments to realize what was going on.
…and what was he supposed to do now?
Tendou’s hands were locked around Kagami’s stomach, and Tendou’s chin was on the top of Kagami’s head, and their legs were almost entangled under the sheets, and Kagami didn’t dare to move.
Why—what—
Tendou never did anything without a reason, right?
So there had to have been a reason for it.
Trying to make Kagami squirm? …no, probably not.
Tendou was not above poking fun at Kagami, in his harsh, blunt ways.
But this was not— Tendou wouldn’t try to play a fool of Kagami this way. He was sure.
But why—
…there weren’t many reasons one would hold another person like this, right?
But it felt so weird because Tendou was so adamant they weren’t friends—
…
Oh.
Oooohhhh.
What the hell.
Seriously?! Seriously?
“Hey, Tendou? How long have we been dating?”
He could feel Tendou’s exhale on his hair, and his hold didn’t ease up on him.
“Took you a while. Are you always this slow?”
“You could have been clearer,” Kagami complained, and part of him wanted to shift around to look at Tendou, but also he didn’t. “You can be so upfront about other things, but you just had to be… like this.”
“I told you we are not friends.”
“That really didn’t narrow it down!”
Kagami realised Tendou still didn’t answer his question of since when.
God, what did he get himself into?
And to make things even more embarrassing - his stomach decided to give him his displeasure of having gone to bed without a dinner and growled right under Tendou’s clasped hands.
“I’ll definitely have to make more servings of breakfast in the morning, then.”
“I—”
What was Kagami about to say? Don’t bother? But apparently he was staying a night at his newly-discovered boyfriend’s house, so breakfast was really a normal thing to expect, right?
“Don’t be alarmed if you wake up alone. I might have to get out for some fresh ingredients before making breakfast.”
“Now that sounds like way too much trouble.”
“Nonsense. Breakfast is very important. Grandmother once sa—”
Kagami now turned around in Tendou’s arms, to face him, covering his mouth with his hands.
“No offence, Tendou,” Kagami breathed. “But can we keep your grandmother’s wisdom out of the bed?”
Tendou blinked before reaching up, and pulling down Kagami’s hands from his mouth.
For a moment, Kagami thought Tendou might finish what he wanted to say anyways. Because Tendou was weird.
Instead, he just looked into Kagami’s eyes, and Kagami suddenly realised how entangled they were under the bedsheets, how close they were, and Tendou didn’t look away.
Kagami swallowed nervously, as he felt his heartbeat pick up.
He was in the same bed with apparently, his boyfriend. Because he had one of those now. For a while now, apparently, although Tendou refused to answer the actual question.
(God, will he act prissy about Kagami forgetting an anniversary he wasn’t even aware of? That sounded like a Tendou thing to do.)
“Kagami.”
“H—huh?”
“Go and sleep already. Tomorrow, I’ll make you breakfast.”
“...right.”
So Kagami hesitated a bit, before pulling himself closer to Tendou, putting his head under Tendou’s chin - and then he just felt his arms wrap around him.
(Were his arms always this muscular? …of course they were, he had seen Tendou sleeveless before, but it was different being held by those arms.)
Kagami probably could get used to this.
And then the next morning, Tendou would finish whatever nonsense he started to say during the night about what his grandmother said about breakfast being so important, and he’d look so smug, and the realisation would hit Kagami Arata, that he was dating a supremely annoying person.
But that was for the morning.
Now, he was just drifting off to sleep peacefully.
