It was easier to hide everything behind a big toothy smile, salacious jokes and a rivalry that was the ultimate boundary for Jake to stay within.
It was the safest thing, the safest way to dance around Rooster, to finally have his attention, but never take that final step that would allow him to expose his vulnerability and tell him why he hurt him so much sometimes with his words and gestures.
