Morning breeze

Summary:

“D’you need hewp?” He was still eating his damn apples, okay? Can you talk while eating? That’s what I thought.

“Sure.” Ratio lowered himself into plank and waited for Aventurine to climb onto his back. Aventurine comfortably took his seat, bowl of apples and phone in his hands, still softly humming to the music. “You should eat more.” Aventurine was always light, but Ratio knew when there was a stressful period, Aventurine tend to lose weight. He was even lighter now.

Ratio didn’t seem to break a sweat despite the weight. Aventurine liked to tease him by moving a little, though it usually didn’t trigger any reaction.

“Twat’s what I’m dwoing.”

or,

Aventurine and Ratio's lazy morning

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Aventurine rolled onto his side and slowly stretched his limbs like a lazy cat. Chilly air hit his back – since he was practically hugging the blanket – and although he got cold really easily, it was refreshing in the morning.

Though, he whined a little when the space next to him was empty, he sheets cold. He rolled in the bed more, spreading his legs and arms, but the bed was so big, his limbs still didn’t touch the edge of the bed.

Aventurine looked at the nightstand, and reached for his phone. As usual, it was flooded with notifications. He whined again, it was his day off for fucks sake. His subordinates could handle things for a day, and he sweared he only answers if a Stoneheart calls him.

Aventurine sat up, legs touching the cold floor. He stretched his arms again and cracked his neck. The blonde reached for his favorite shawl and draped it over his shoulders. Then, Aventurine went straight to the kitchen. He wasn’t really hungry, so he just grabbed a bowl of cut apples from the fridge.

The fridge was full of notes pinned to it with magnets. When both Ratio and Aventurine was busy they just communicated like this. Ratio often had to get up really early and Aventurine often had to work extra late. It was unfortunate, really.

Aventurine put on speaker one of his favorite album, it was an up-beat pop song. He knew Ratio wasn’t really fond of this kind of music, but who cares. Aventurine swayed his hips softly and was walking to the rhythm, out to the huge balcony, the song still audible though it was a little muffled.

The sun rays didn’t reach the balcony yet, so luckily Aventurine didn’t go blind. The weather was really pleasant, a little chilly but the spring breeze was like a soft caress.

“Good morning, dearest.” Aventurine approached the currently excersizing Ratio. He was doing push-ups while reading a book. Aventurine drooled over the sight of Ratio’s muscled, naked back – he liked to sleep in only sweatpants.

Aventurine was next to Ratio, lazily munching on his apples. The other didn’t even look at him, his eyes never leaving the book. His moves were smooth like water, he made it look so effortless. Aventurine long since learned not to work out with Ratio, since the other’s routine was absolutely brutal.

“Good morning to you too.”

“How did you sleep?”

“You kicked me awake.” Aventurine laughed. He knew he'll never outgrow this habit. His sister often complained that the little Kakavasha kicked her up from sleep.

“Sorry, sorry. Though I bet it hurt me more kicking your ridiculously muscled side.” Ratio only furrowed his brow, not wanting to engage in this idiotic conversation.

“You should eat more.” Aventurine has always been light, but Ratio knew when there was a stressful period, Aventurine tends to lose weight. He was even lighter now.

Ratio didn’t seem to break a sweat despite the weight. Aventurine liked to tease him by moving a little, though it usually didn’t trigger any reaction.

“Twat’s what I’m dwoing.”

“Aeons, swallow it first.” Ratio shivered as Aventurine was loudly chewing like a child. It was just as bad when someone scratched a chalkboard.

Aventurine laughed, and finally began to eat like a normal adult. He was scrolling on his phone, looking through his social media, but nothing interesting happened. Boo.

After about 10 minutes, Aventurine got very bored. Luckily, he knew just what buttons to push to get Ratio to go inside.

“Hey doc, I’m reeeally hungry.” Ratio turned a page and answered nonchalantly.

“Oh really now.”

“Surely you wouldn’t want your poor boyfriend to starve. Hey hey, do you know how much I weigh? Let’s che-”

“Okay, okay, I get it. Get up gambler.” Aventurine climbed off Ratio with a cheery ‘yeey’.

Ratio stretched his neck and arms quickly and rolled his eyes at Aventurine’s drooling gaze. “Feel free to take a picture.”

Aventurine pouted as he followed the other back. “It’s not that impressive y’know.” Ratio only hummed and smirked.

0-1. This smugness irked Aventurine and he just had to get him back. He can make this 1-1. “Lest you see some men in the casino, now that’s something.”

Ratio packed away a few ingredients from the fridge and didn’t even bat an eye while answering. “Keep talking about other men, and see what will happen to you tonight.”

2-0.

Man.

Aventurine blushed furiously and didn’t say anything to this. He leaned his head onto the counter and watched Ratio doing the magic. He was basically banned from the kitchen since he made huge messes and he always injured himself.

“I do not wish to come home while you somehow summon Nous with a chicken breast recipe.” Said the wise words Ratio, thus Aventurine was banned from the place. The only thing that was safe for him to make was...instant noodles?

Aventurine stood up energetically. This was his favorite song!

“Hey Ver, let’s dance!” Aventurine grabbed the other’s hands to pull him tot he free space.

“As you can see, my dear gambler, I am, in fact making you breakfast.”

“Oh come on, the eggs need time to boil. Pleeease.” He whined in a really high pitched voice, the one he knew irritated the other the most.

“Fine.” Aventurine pulled him to the middle of the kitchen and gently twirled Ratio then himself. They swayed to the beat with Aventurine’s hands around Ratio’s neck. Ratio didn’t really know how to dance, he was always too awkward. But Aventurine did the work instead of him anyways.

Seeing those sparkles in the other’s eyes was Ratio’s biggest joy. Aventurine’s laugh was like an angels'. It reminded him of rich flavors and gold. Ratio couldn’t quite grasp it, he tried to commit it to memory whenever Aventurine really, truly laughed, but every time it was different.

“How come you work out so much yet you suck so hard at a physical activity?” Aventurine teased while he swayed to the rhythm.

Okay, it was a pretty moment, pretty while it lasted, pretty while the blonde didn’t ruin it with his big mouth.

Ratio huffed and he suddenly raised Aventurine up. He grabbed him by the waist, and quickly twirled him in the air. Aventurine was taken aback, he shouted a little, honestly it was really cute. The size of Aventurine waist perfectly fitted into Ratio’s big hands.

“My, you really should come to banquettes with me.” Ratio mentally winced at the thought of engaging with idle chit-chat with strangers about utterly useless topics.

“No.” Aventurine laughed. Ratio’s straightforwardness delivered with a straight face never failed to make him laugh.

Notes:

I didn't read this through, I hope it's not too chaotic hehe. This fluff was totally not planned, I just began to write something since I really like this trope where Ratio works out while reading, and so this was born. Hope you liked it!:>
