Destiny

Summary:

Her Tarot cards said it was destiny. Now all she has to do is fulfill the prophecy by meeting him.

Notes:

The very FIRST Pink and Blue one shot I made back in 2014 when Sonic Boom wasn't even announced yet. This one is very special to me. I'm glad IDW gives the Classic Universe more time to shine.

Work Text:

"Oh... My... Gosh," shouted an eight year-old Rosy dressed in a green polo, an orange tutu and on her feet, and sneakers. She finally managed to travel all the way to Never Lake where Little Plant orbited above. It only orbits the world for a month per year before re-entering the atmosphere. This was the location that her where she would meet her one true love. The world's true blue hero, Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Finally, today is the day I'll get to meet my Sonic," she shrieked. Rosy took out her trusty tarot cards from her pocket and kissed them. She's had a knack for reading tarot cards since she began taking it up as a hobby with her friends. When she heard they could show anyone's future to them, she immediately became fascinated with their power of clairvoyance. This time it showed her what she most desired. She would met the love of her life who happened to be the fastest thing alive. Though it might seem silly to make one's life decisions with the help of cards, she was determined that this was her destiny and she was definitely not going to miss out on it.

"And if my Tarot cards are right as they always are, he should be..." Amy moved her head left and right, but then motioned her head up to the floating planet that was chained to the earth by a bunch of chains. Rosy was not concerned or aware about the evil threat that was controlling the planet's unnatural metal state. Love easily blinded people.

"...Right up there," she smiled knowing that after hours in the middle of nowhere she'd reached her destination. In a matter of minutes she would meet the boy of her dreams... Once she climbed the metal chains of course.

'These chains look dangerous,' she thought nervously, but then gained a positive attitude adjustment after thinking about the lengths people have gone for their lovers.

"Sonic wouldn't have given up and so I won't either."

'Now if I was the cutest blue hedgehog around which way would I be running to?

After felt like hours of climbing, the girl had reached Little Planet itself, walking around in a jungle of palm trees, trying to find Sonic to no avail.

'Maybe he's not here after all or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough!'

Decidedly tired and demotivated, Rosy was about to leave until she was instantly spun around and fell down. By the time she composed herself, she managed to use her impaired eyesight to find a blue blur zooming faster than the speed of sound. She thought her mind was playing tricks until she saw the blue blur was coming back towards her.

"Hey, are you all right?" The blur asked while holding out his hand to her. Amy reluctantly took it and rubbed her eyes, so she could finally see properly and to her surprise, it the person she was looking for. Ironic that he had found her instead. In the flesh was her hero and crush, Sonic the Hedgehog with his trademark smile.

'He's even cuter in person!'

Her eyes widened and her mouth were agape in shock and admiration. Noticing she hadn't replied in a while, Sonic waved his hands side to side to make sure she hasn't gone completely delirious. He had a habit of doing that when he ran past others at high speeds.

"Uhhh, are you lost or something?" Amy finally got herself together and breathed in, trying to keep her cool, but that couldn't stop her from blurting out anything that would make her seem... weird.

"OH MY GOSH I AM LIKE YOUR BIGGEST FAN EVER, I CAME ALL THE WAY OVER HERE BECAUSE MY TAROT CARDS WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND YOU HERE, SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO MEET YOU!" she explained, not feeling the slightest bit embarrassed about it either while giving him a very tight hug which Sonic was trying to squirm out of.

'She hugs strong for a girl,' he thought, annoyed at his personal space being violated. He had met fans of his before, but this was the most awkward yet.

"Who knew fate was real?" she sighed with happiness, ignoring his uncomfortable stance as her short quills rubbed against his tan chest.

After being saved by Sonic the Hedgehog, Rosy had the pleasure of viewing Little Planet beyond Never Lake to observe the show that was being displayed above her.

'He sure does know how to woo a girl,' she thought dreamily to herself, believing that the light show Sonic inadvertently created in his wake was dedicated to her.

"Amazing..." Rosy said in awe as she saw stars of all colours spread throughout the world in the name of the Little Planet that had been saved from all evil thanks to her blue ('and cute') hero.

"... Just like him."

She was about to enter her usual dreamlike fantasies about her savior until she saw a beautiful flower garden. The fuel that mad man used to power those horrible badniks had been put back into its true place in nature. Rosy sat down on her knees on the flowery blanket and started to relax and smell the flowers as she admired each and every one.

'He save saves animals, damsels in distress, and helps to protect Mother nature. Wow! I never thought a boy could be this perfect!'

A pink flower of a rare species caught her interest as she held it by the stem loosely and sighed girlishly with a hint of sadness.

"If only Sonic gave you to me," The pink hedgehog voiced her thoughts out loud, complaining about her crush's ignorant boyish ways. Her tarot cards predicted that Sonic was her true love, but instead of running away with her in the sunset, all he was run away from her.

"Maybe it's just a boy thing?"

Boys especially one's as young as she were, are known for not knowing the ways of love and crushes until later in life. Even still, they could be oblivious or unconcerned with Valentine's methods of dealing with the opposite sex. She twirled the exotic flower around her growing fingertips, so small and delicate.

"Or maybe he's just shy?"

That was the reason she went with. Maybe she did come on a bit too strong, trying to hug him without properly introducing herself, but she couldn't hold herself when she saw him in person. Rosy never expected him to be so dashing. Even when she was kidnapped by that metal monster, she saw a glimpse of his determination and daring nature. To race into action for someone he didn't even know. Like a blue knight in shining armour. The memory made her swoon.

Sonic was a hero, but was still a person. Everyone has their insecurities, even if Sonic seemed too cool to have them. Rosy found that hard to believe he had any from how he presented himself.

Sonic was the epitome of bravery, coolness, cuteness and awesomeness and any other synonyms that could go with those words. He was it.

'But then again everyone was afraid of something.  Maybe girls was his fear?

It would seem so surprising if that was the case. But who knows? Maybe she could teach him how to approach his feelings.

Soon she heard the wind pick up, and this was no ordinary wind, she remembered this wind from her first hand experience with it.

"SONIC!" She squealed for the first time, and would be the first of many calls to him in happiness, sadness and anger in her lifetime. She got up and ran to him like her life depended on it with her flower still in hand.

"Huh?" The blue hedgehog stopped in his tracks after hearing a voice call out to him. He froze once he realised it was the girl he ditched. Rosy didn't notice the look of panic on his face as she approached him. He was about to run away again until the pink hedgehog was able to grab on to one of his tan arms.

"I really have to thank you for rescuing me since you bailed before I could earlier." Sonic could sense some sweet bitterness in her tone at the end. Immediately created an excuse on the spot to save face.

"Listen... I'm sorry I had to leave ya' so soon, I had to deal with the last of the badniks, and... uhh..."

"Rosy," She said in a cute yet suggestive way as she edged closer to him. Sonic tried make more space between them, but she kept insisting.

"Rosy?" It was mean to admit that he'd forgotten her name after this ordeal, but after today, he would never forget this girl.

"Yeah, that's what all my friends call me!" She said sweetly.

She moved closer to his face, so that their noses were touching, creating a romantic sight for any onlooker to perceive them as the cute couple she thought they were, while Sonic on the other hand was practically sweating bullets from a crabmeat.

"I-I..."

"Thank you," Rosy uttered as she attempted close the space between them and get her first kiss, but Sonic pulled himself back in fright.

'Was I too forceful?' Rosy looked disappointed. Didn't the damsel always owe her knight a kiss after being rescued, and wasn't the knight always so willing to accept it. Clearly Sonic wasn't as he looked around like he was contemplating his escape plane (which he was about finishing).

Wasn't the first kiss from a young age always 99% perfect! The 1% was apparently reserved for Rosy. Why was Cupid so cruel to her young heart?

'Just my bad luck.' She kicked the sand beneath her like a spoiled brat that didn't get her way.

As much as he wanted to flee and forget about the butterflies in his stomach, Sonic's kind nature stopped him. He felt bad for her. She appeared to be slightly younger than him so probably didn't understand the concept of personal space yet. This Rosy girl clearly had a crush on him. A creepy crush, but that didn't mean he was heartless to her feelings. She was very intimidating, however. If he stayed with her any longer, he felt like he was going to be sick.

'Maybe there's a way to make it up to her and get her out of my hair?'

He peered around her to view the flower garden behind her. Sonic smirked, confirming that he had a plan.

Suddenly, Rosy realised he was gone. He ran away.

'Again.'

She groaned, but she felt miserable, heartbroken even. She could feel the tears coming down her cheeks which depressed her more. Wasn't love always meant to work. Her destiny was laid out in front of her. Were her tarot cards wrong?

Soon the wind pick up again and saw her hero back at her side with a flower identical to the one she was holding behind her back.

"Here." Was all Sonic said timidly held out he his hand as straight as a ruler with the flower in said hand.

"You can have it. Think of it as an apology... Rosy." He said quickly as he gave it to her and sped away faster than... himself in record time. He felt bad for running away, but considering her persistence and love for him, Sonic had a feeling he would running into her again.

"Oh..." Was all that came out of her mouth at the time. She admired the flower that was gifted to her moments ago. 'He really does care.'

Rosy looked off into the distance where her future boyfriend ran off, on the way to his next adventure. Now alone, she compared the two flowers in her hands. Rosy dropped the one she's picked previously and then threw it away into the breeze for the bees to enjoy.

"Now this is the perfect flower to admire forever!"
