Work Text:
I saw my friend the other day.
It still feels so weird just calling her my friend, without "girl" in front, and I don't know exactly just what she's become now. It just goes to show they're all better off without me. It wasn't long ago that I was happy just like her, but now I think I'm sick and I wanna go home.
"Home". The Boiling Isles.
Can I even call it "home"? After all, I wasn't born there, and I helped destroy it too.
"How have... I been? Well, how have you been?"
It's been so long since I've talked to her, two weeks in fact. We haven't told anyone about the breakup; we're still trying to work out if it's for real or just a couple fight. She surprised me when she asked me how I've been. Not how I've been since the maybe-breakup; how I've been since the Day of Unity.
"What've you done with all your time?"
Fair question, to be fair. We spent at least 75% of our time (besides the times I had to go out for whatever reason) with each other before the maybe-breakup, so I'm not really sure what she's been doing with her free time.
"What went wrong, Amity?"
I knew her back then, and she... she knew me. But now I think she's sick, because no matter how many times it doesn't work, she still tries to comfort me and ease my guilt for getting her stuck here with me. If only she knew the truth... if only I wasn't too much of a coward to at least just tell her...
I just want to go home...
Everyone always said no and told me that I wasn't right in the head, and maybe they were right.
Where did the little kid go after she went into the Boiling Isles? I guess I lost her in the whole hateful fight with Belos.
But there's one thing I know, and I know it's true: I have the best girlfriend in the entire multiverse. It wasn't long ago that I was happy just like her, and I can be happy like that again...
But for now, I still think I'm sick and I just wanna go home.
