Chapter Text
The Teen Titans had just finished a session in the training room. The group was currently unwinding and were just about ready to take a rest for the afternoon.
“Good work everyone. I can see we're slowly improving in our skills.” Damian praised his teammates as he stretched his arms.
“Ah shucks. You really think so?” Maps happily asked before chugging a bottle of water to hydrate herself.
“I mean of course we're gonna improve. We're awesome.” Shazam confidently said to his teammate.
Kathy nodded in agreement. She felt like she was just a few seconds away from just lying down on the ground.
“This made the farm work at my dad's farm feel like nothi-”
The blonde haired girl's thought was interrupted when she felt something odd. When she looked down, she saw that the pink gem that was part of her costume was buzzing, and glowing an even brighter shade of pink.
“Huh?” She asked herself before pulling the information gem off of her outfit. Knowing the possibility of this being about something urgent, the girl quickly tapped the middle of the gem twice and was met with the small hologram of her mother.
“Sorry to alarm you, but this is important.” The hologram of the woman said to her daughter.
The rest of the hero group had noticed what was happening with Kathy by now, and began to surround their friend to see what was going on.
“Oh. I didn't know your friends were with you at the moment.”
The blond haired girl was shocked when she heard what her mom said. This wasn't a pre recorded message. She had no idea this was possible.
“Mom? Is this an actual call right now?” Kathy asked as she began to worry that something bad must've happened.
“Do not worry. I promise you it's nothing to worry about. I just wanted to inform you that I'll be landing my ship on the roof of the building.”
Kathy, along with the rest of the group, were rather shocked by the news from Kath'rn. They were left stunned as the woman hung up the holographic message. After a few seconds of silence, Damian finally spoke.
“She knows where we are?”
“Duh. She can track my location with this thing.” Kathy informed the team leader as she placed the information gem back on her hero suit.
The team decided to check if this wasn't a bluff. Exiting from the window, both Shazam and Jon carried the rest of the teammates while they flew up to the top of the building.
Almost right away, they spotted a strange spaceship from above. Even if it was from a far distance, it was clear that what Kathy's mom said was true.
“Is that?” The blonde haired girl thought to herself in disbelief.
The duo in the air flew up, and landed on the top of the Teen Titans Tower. They watched as the ship slowly got closer and closer, and eventually gently landed near them.
While the rest of their team at least had their guard up a little, Kathy stared in awe. She recognized the spaceship from when she first met her mom, and realized this was the real deal.
“It is.” The girl thought to herself in amazement.
Soon, the door to the ship opened up. Once the smoke from it cleared, a few armored Kroogarian guards exit alongside Empress Kath'rn.
“Mom!” She happily exclaimed as she rushed over to her mother, and gave her a big hug.
“Oh Kathy, it's so good to see you again.” The woman said as she was quick to hug her daughter back.
As the Teen Titans watched this heartwarming display, they lowered their guards down as they smiled softly at the hug.
“Man, Kath's mom must be important.” Maya said as this was the first time seeing Kath'rn in person.
“Yeah. Didn't mention anything about guys in armor when she told me about her.” Jon said to the cybernetic teammate.
Once the hug ended, Suren cleared his throat to get the attention of the mother daughter duo.
“Pardon me if this seems rude, but how come you've suddenly come here?” He curiously asked the tall woman.
“I'm sure she's just here for a simple visit, though the bodyguards seem like they're overkill.” Maps chimed in as she guessed that this wasn't a big deal.
“Is that true?” Kathy asked her mom as she got the feeling that this wasn't just a simple visit.
“Well, no. I'm here for a more important reason.” The alien empress told her daughter.
“Important?” The teen hero said in confusion as she wondered what exactly was going on.
There was a moment of silence before Kath'rn spoke again.
“I've come here to ask for all of your help.”
The Teen Titans were all surprised by this. Their minds were racing with what could possibly cause the alien empress to come to them for help.
“Help? Like charitable things help or fight the bad guys help?” Shazam asked since he felt like the request was too vague.
“It's the latter option. Perhaps I can explain the situation in more detail when we head inside.” Kath'rn clarified to the confused hero as she motioned the team towards the spaceship door.
“Wait, inside the spaceship?!” Kathy exclaimed in pure shock and awe.
The alien empress simply gave a nod in response to her daughter.
“Oh my goodness! We're going to space!” Maps happily cheered in excitement.
“Man Kathy, your mom's cool.” Shazam said to his friend as he gave a thumbs up.
“Never been to space. Dad used to take me and Mom to the planetarium when I was younger.” Maya quietly remarked to herself.
Even if everyone was in amazement from this information, Damian had a lingering question on his mind that dampened his mood
“How are we even gonna do that though? We don't have space suits though.”
“Worry not, humans can breathe on our home planet without the need of space suits.” Kath'rn assured the bird themed hero as she stepped back inside of the spaceship.
The Teen Titans followed the alien empress inside, and were awestruck by the interior of the spaceship. It was very sleek and futuristic with the colors being a mix of black and white with some glowing pink bits occasionally there.
“Woahhhh.” Suren verbally said in amazement as he, along with the rest of his friends, found some seats to sit down on.
As the group buckled up, the blonde haired hero made her way to the cockpit to sit next to her mother.
“I'm gonna be honest, I was kind of expecting this to be a family reunion.” Kathy said as part of her felt nervous about what kind of adversity the team was going to face.
“Alas, those aren't the circumstances we're dealing with right now.” The woman lamented as the door to the spaceship closed once everyone got on.
Soon, the alien empress used the control panel to slowly lift the ship off of the rooftop.
“Tell me again, this is your first time being in a spaceship right?”
“Yeah. Why'd you ask?” Maya answered her teammates’ mother.
“Well, I suggest you hang on tight.”
With that remark, Kath'rn put the spaceship into full drive as it quickly shot up into the sky. In what felt like an instant, the starry darkness of space could be seen from the windows.
Once everyone had gotten used to the speed, it took them a moment to register what just happened. When they did notice, they began to take in the reality of what had happened.
The Teen Titans were officially in outer space.
