The Setup

Summary:

The League couldn't take it any longer. Tomura and Dabi were at each other's throats, bickering like an old married couple every single day. They'd had enough. Because it was obvious to everyone but them, that they were only arguing because they liked each other- they were just too stupid to see it. They'd insult one another, but always mean the total opposite of what came out of their mouths.

Toga, being the romance expert she is, comes up with a plan when Dabi goes too far one day. She gets all the League in on it, and they work together so that they can set the two villains up, so that they may finally confess their feelings for each other. And what could be better than sending fake confession letters to one another? Surely, nothing could go wrong...

Notes:

A while back on my twitter, my followers voted for me to do a SFW shigadabi fic. And finally, I have provided. This has the most unbelievable tooth-rotting fluff I could think of in it. Might be quite OOC at times, but hey. I'm an expert at that, at this point. Also, please enjoy the League being a family. The manga, right now, is... very painful. No idea if they'll ever be reunited, and it breaks my heart. I wrote this to remind myself of the better, good times, when they were living in the bar. My headcanon has ALWAYS been that shigadabi started dating, or whatever else as early as Kamino, before their bar got wrecked. But anyway, enjoy the LOV setting the two of them up ^.^ Follow me on twitter @ShigaDabiFreak, follow me on tumblr at shigadabifreak, and Instagram at danithecrazynerd .

Work Text:

Toga sighed, as she put her face in her hands, elbows on the bar, as she watched the display before her. Spinner only groaned, and massaged his temples, hardly able to take this anymore.

Compress grumbled and crossed his arms as he stood in the corner of the room, electing to try to ignore what was happening, despite that being difficult to do.

Twice watched on, the only one there that was actually entertained by it. Mag shook her head in dismay, and Kurogiri was the only one who completely ignored it, wiping down glasses.

That left only two members- Dabi, and the leader of the league, Tomura. The display that everyone was watching, involved them. The display that was a daily occurrence, sometimes happening multiple times in a day. A thing everyone was so sick, and tired of.

The two men bickering like an old married couple.

It could be absolutely anything that they'd argue over. Sometimes people would be there to know how it started, or who started it. Sometimes nobody knew what had happened, and no one cared.

It happened so much, it just pissed people off now. They just wanted it to end. These two boys were at each other's throats constantly

But everyone besides them knew why it happened. The two men fought with words, and sometimes things got mildly physical. People had to stop them when they thought their quirks would become involved.

However, there was a very obvious reason why they fought a lot- and it was down to their confused emotions.

They acted like they hated one another, and couldn't stand each other. But to everyone else, it was clear that the real reason for it, was the opposite. They just didn't know how to deal with their own feelings for each other, so took it out on one another instead.

Toga was an expert in what the men were dealing with, so she noticed it first. Mag after that, being just as clever as Toga with such things. Compress afterwards, once it was pointed out to him. Twice afterwards as well, arguing to himself that it was obvious, or that it was stupid to assume such. Spinner took the longest to realise, but did eventually. But Kurogiri had known since the start.

Tomura and Dabi actually liked each other. Romantically. And the rest of the League believed they knew their feelings for the other... but believed that the other would never reciprocate.

At first, they had no idea what they were feeling for each other. They got angry at each other, called each other names, had a go at one another for the stupidest things, because they were just confused.

But now it seemed they realised their attraction, and their bickering got worse. The rest of the League wished they would just realise they were being dumb, and kiss. It was so obvious to everyone else, but themselves.

During an argument, or after, they'd hiss and spit at one another, but also make off-hand compliments, back-tracking with insults afterwards, and they'd blush and mutter at one another like morons.

They'd sometimes find the men after the arguments, head in hands and blushing, freaking out, their hearts beating uncontrollably. At this point, it was almost as if insults were their version of flirting.

They'd leave after arguments to kick their feet like bashful teenagers in love. And the rest of the League found it so frustrating.

This was the last straw for Toga in-particular. Being a love expert, and being in love with the idea of love itself, wanting love to flourish and bloom, she knew she had to be the one to take action. She needed a plan...

She'd think on it later, but for now, she needed to end the argument, in a way she knew would certainly work.

The two men were still yelling, calling each other names, so she groaned loudly at the top of her voice. This caught everyone's attention, even Tomura and Dabi's.

She glared at them with anger in her eyes, before yelling, "Jesus, just kiss already!".

Mag nearly choked on her own spit. Compress put a hand up to his mask in shock. Spinner's mouth dropped. Kurogiri stopped what he was doing to stare at her in amazement for her boldness. And Twice just burst out laughing.

"W-W-What?!", Tomura, being the shyer one, and the one to get more easily flustered, blurted out first in a stammer, and everyone could see how red he was under his messy blue bangs.

"Urgh, you little brat! The fuck are you talking about?!", Dabi snapped, being the more in-denial and angry one.

"If you two locked lips, I guarantee you'd stop arguing for once. The tension is always so thick, you could cut it with a knife! So knock this off, and put your tongues to better use!".

At this, everyone began to laugh or hum in agreement.

"I-! Huh?! W-What?! N-No, it's not like that!", Tomura spluttered.

"Urgh, are you kidding me?! I'd rather die than swap spit with this little freak!", Dabi snapped, pointing at Tomura.

"Uh... I... Uhm...".

Tomura would never say something like that. In the past, he would have. But these days, he had less fight in him. He wouldn't deny as much as he used to, and when Dabi said that sort of shit, he tended to get upset.

"Oh come on guys! Everyone here sees it! Sort your shit out! Look at yourselves...", Toga sighed.

Both men did look at each other. They were both blushing. But neither of them wanted to prove anyone in the room right. They were still in denial, and still way too shy. Too prideful to admit it.

Tomura just scoffed and turned away, refusing to look at Dabi anymore. Dabi just flipped Toga off, and stormed out of the building. When he left, Tomura wrapped his arms around himself, looking vulnerable.

Poor guy looked like he wanted to cry. Everyone wanted to reassure him, but he bolted up to his room before anyone could say anything. Everyone then began to sigh and grumble.

"Toga's right... They need to sort their shit out", Spinner said.

"Too damn right! What are we talking about?", Twice said.

"Poor guys... Especially Tomura. He's so hurt by Dabi's words...", Mag sighed.

"What ever should we do?", Compress asked.

"I don't know yet... But, I will think of a plan! Gimmie some time, and I'll figure something out. This needs to end", Toga said.

"She's right...", Kurogiri unexpectedly spoke up next, and everyone turned to look at him.

"My purpose is for Tomura to be happy, and because his love isn't returned, he's miserable. For me, that is unacceptable. This must be sorted out...".

"Alright!", Toga beamed.

"Fuck yeah, let's get on it! Urgh, screw this shit...", Twice agreed... and also didn't.

The whole group agreed. It was time to hatch a plan...

-----

Toga knew she had to hurry up with her plan, once the next argument kicked off. Tomura and Dabi were actually arguing in the hallway, where nobody was about.

Toga was spying on them from around the corner, as she had gone to see what the fuss was about once she heard it. Their argument was a little different this time.

"I don't get why you're upset at me...", Tomura grumbled.

"You need to put that fucking hand back on your face...", Dabi growled.

"What? I thought you said it was gross...".

"Yeah well, your face is even grosser...".

"What...? I-I started taking it off so... it wouldn't disturb y-you...", Tomura said, his voice cracking.

"Yeah, well I take it back... You look better with that hand on your face", Dabi scoffed, and Tomura made a pained noise in the back of his throat, and all Toga felt was sympathy...

It was obvious why Dabi was saying this. He didn't want to see Tomura's face, for the opposite reason. His attraction was too high- he'd probably end up kissing Tomura if he did keep seeing his face. So he tried to convince Tomura to hide it instead.

"The fuck is wrong with you?! Why do you keep saying things like this to me?!", Tomura yelled, and Toga's eyes expanded.

This was new...

Tomura would usually just insult Dabi back, and get into a full-blown argument. He might push or hit Dabi. Or storm off. But this time, he was actually questioning Dabi's actions...

"Cos you're a freak".

"Urgh! Look in the mirror- we both are! Why does it matter?! All the League are different and interesting, and unique in their own ways. Why are you singling me out? Especially after I made you Second In Command!", Tomura asked.

"Psh, you only made me such cos I'm the most powerful besides yourself... I single you out cos you're the freakiest, and worst of us all. No one else pisses me off like you do...".

"I just mind my own business! 70% of the time, you're the one who starts these arguments! I'm not saying Toga is right about us... But we do need to stop!", Tomura yelled.

"No, you start this just as much as I do... Everything you do pisses me off! Maybe stop being such a creep and a freakshow, and then I'll take Toga's advice...".

"I... I really think... we should...".

"Should what? Stop, or...?".

"I... I...", Tomura faltered, almost giving away how he felt... and it was enough for Dabi to catch on.

"Urgh, what?! You think we should... actually...?! EW!".

"W-W-W-Wait, no, I-I didn't mean-!".

"You think we should kiss?!".

"NO! No way, I just-!".

"Just what, creep?! I'd stop this shit if you were any different... And your hesitation a moment ago? You do wanna kiss me, don't you?!", Dabi snarled.

"Noooooo, that's not what I'm getting at!".

"Fucking liar... I can see it written all over your gross face!", Dabi spat.

"Stop it! Fuck's sake, just stop!", Tomura practically cried.

"You're disgusting... I meant what I said the other day. That I'd rather die...".

That's when Dabi stormed off. Very dramatically. Tail of his coat swishing behind him. But Toga saw the betrayal on his own face at his own words.

That in fact, he was actually dying to kiss Tomura. Saying the opposite to throw off the scent...

His head was down, rushing away so he didn't feel Tomura's wrath, or see his reaction. He was blushing at the thought, his hair not enough to hide his face as he rushed past Toga, not noticing her.

Toga looked back at Tomura after that, and her heart shattered. He was shaking, and she could hear him beginning to sob. He wiped his eyes with his long sleeve, and stalked off to his bedroom slowly, shivering the entire time...

Toga wanted to cry for him. He was finally standing up for himself, trying to stop the fighting at last, and figure out what was going on with them... but it blew up in his face.

And Dabi? She knew what he was doing. He'd asked if Tomura wanted to kiss him to see if Tomura felt the same. If he had said yes, Dabi probably would have kissed him.

They needed to tell each other the truth. There had to be a way for them to explain things to each other...

Then, that's when an idea finally popped into Toga's head. At last, she had a plan. She gasped at her own genius. Then ran downstairs to the bar to inform everyone. Luckily, everyone was there besides Dabi.

"Where's Dabi?", she asked everyone.

"Just stormed out of the bar a second ago, looking like he wants to murder someone. Why?", Spinner asked.

That's when Toga explained everything she had just witnessed. Everyone expressed great sympathy towards Tomura.

"It made me finally come up with a plan, though!", she told everyone.

"Really?! About damn time...".

"Please do share, Toga", Kurogiri asked.

"Okay, Dabi is out, Tomura's in his room... this is the perfect time to plan this out. We gotta set them up!", she began.

"How?", Mag asked.

"To make them... confess to each other without them actually confessing. We gotta send them fake love letters!", Toga explained.

"Oh! I know what that is!", Compress spoke up, clapping at her.

"Yeah! What is a fake love letter...?".

"Essentially, we write a letter addressed to both Dabi and Tomura, pretending to be them", Mag explained.

"Yes! One letter to Dabi, by Tomura. One letter to Tomura, by Dabi. We confess for them. And make them meet somewhere, so that they can finally talk to each other!", Toga clapped.

"I hope it works...", Compress said.

"What if they don't fall for it?", Spinner asked.

"Then we'll figure something else out. I'm pretty certain they don't know each other's handwriting, so they wouldn't be able to tell if it was fake or not...", Toga mused.

"I think you're correct", Kurogiri told her.

"And gotta put the letters underneath their doors at night, when they're home... Ooooh! I'm starting to like this plan!", Mag squealed.

"Alright people!", Toga jumped up into the air excitedly.

"Let's get some paper and pens, and get this show on the road!".

-----

Tomura groaned, as he curled up in bed on his side, scrolling through memes on his phone. He was trying to do it to cheer himself up, but it wasn't really working. He wasn't even cracking a smile- he was far too depressed for it.

He didn't understand why the man of his desires was so hostile towards him when he didn't do anything but exist. He thought maybe he had a chance, but after their last argument, it was clear Dabi was truly disgusted by him.

He wished Dabi would just ignore him and leave him alone, but at the same time, Tomura would take any attention from his love interest that he could get...

He was stuck between a rock and a hard place, and his heart ached so much. He didn't get it. Why Dabi was so horrible to him.

Tomura had tried to stop this mess, and be nice to Dabi, give him Second In Command status, and do things he thought would appease the older man... but nothing worked.

Tomura accepted nothing would ever work, and threw his phone down, and turned over to his other side, supressing tears.

He was going to try to sleep, before he heard a strange shuffling sound at his door. He perked his head up, to see the strangest thing...

A letter had slipped itself from underneath his door, into his room. Tomura's interest was completely peaked.

The fuck even was that? Did someone from the League want something, but was too afraid to ask? He really needed to put in more positive reinforcement so nobody would be scared of him... as even he knew that wasn't the best way to go, despite what his master told him.

Tomura got up from his bed, and went over to where the letter was, and picked it up. He ripped it open, to find a few pages worth of writing. Tomura couldn't resist, taking it back to his bed, and sat down to read.

The letter read as follows-

"To Tomura... Hey Boss. I'm sorry about before. Thing is, I don't mean the things I say to you. I never have. You're right- the arguing needs to end. And I know how to put an end to it".

Tomura's heart skipped a beat. It was now obvious that this letter was from Dabi. He couldn't wait to see what the rest of the letter said. He kept reading.

"Toga was right after all. Thing is, I have been acting like this because I actually feel the opposite way. I just didn't want you to know... Or, I thought maybe you didn't feel the same way. But I'm done lying to you".

Tomura's eyes expanded. Was this... what he thought it was? Was this going the way he was thinking? His heart was in his mouth.

"Never told anyone this. But my type just happens to be someone who would do anything for others- and you're a very selfless leader. You care for us all so much. But you're cute. Not as intimidating as people think you are. And not actually gross at all. Well, maybe you are... but I like that. Look at me, for goodness sake. I've been a total hypocrite. But no more".

Yeah... yeah, this was actually happening, and Tomura couldn't believe it. Was this fucking fake, or something? A prank, maybe? It wasn't anywhere near April Fools, but... no. This couldn't be real. He was sweating, now...

"The only reason I don't want to see your face, is because you're too beautiful. I won't be able to... stop myself, or... resist you, if you don't keep that hand on your face. I'm mean to you as a mechanism to stop myself from giving it all away. And even if I do try to compliment you, I freak out at the last second, and back-track. I don't mean to insult you... I just can't help it. The words just slip out before I can even stop myself. I can't apologise enough..."

Oh fuck this was happening. Dabi was... confessing to him? Dabi felt the same way! Tomura's heart was nearly leaping out of his chest right now. He was breathing heavily, blush forming over his cheeks.

Holy fuck... this had got to be a dream...

"I'm sorry, Tomura. I think you feel the same... don't you? I really fucking like you... I do actually want to swap spit with you, if you'd let me. If you do feel the same way, please meet me out the back alleyway tomorrow night, at 10pm. If you don't... just throw this away and let it go. Don't come talk to me about it... It would be best for this to never be spoken about again. If you don't feel the same way, just... forget about it and I'll move on. I'll have to. I want to stay and be by your side, and follow you... no matter what".

Tomura gulped. Holy fuck. Shit. His heart was pounding so loud, he could hear it. Butterflies ran rampant in his stomach.

Gosh, tomorrow?! The fuck was he meant to do for the next 24 hours?! Things would be so tense and awkward around the hideout if he saw him!

"Enough rambling from me though... whatever. Fuck wasting paper. I hope I'll see you tomorrow. Have a nice day, I guess. - Dabi".

Tomura put down the paper, and started to mildly hyperventilate. There was so much to do before he could meet Dabi. He had to prepare!

He had to dress nice. Shower. Brush his teeth. Put in effort with his hair- everything! Dabi may have confessed, but he wanted to make the best impression possible.

Shit, he couldn't tell anyone about this. He had to respect Dabi's wishes. Keep this confidential and private unless he said it was okay to reveal things to everyone. He couldn't even go to Kurogiri for the first time- Tomura had to do this alone.

But if Dabi's words were anything to go by, he'd be alright. Dabi had confidence in him, so he'd take that to heart. This could be done. He just had to be as cool as possible.

Tomura just... wasn't used to this. Never had a partner, let alone someone as cool and handsome as Dabi. The dude was way out of his league- he still couldn't believe he felt the same way.

But he would just be himself... and be honest... turn up as presentable as he could... and surely, nothing could go wrong, right?

He had 24 hours to calm down, and work this out. But he also couldn't help the excitement in his heart, that Dabi would soon be his boyfriend...

-----

Dabi paced around his room frantically, dragging his hands through his hair in an angry fit, growling to himself. He huffed, and groaned, and kicked shit around. Until he was full-on throwing things across the room, and flames began to flick around his body.

"Why the fuck do I do this to myself?!", he yelled.

"Why am I like this? Seriously? The fuck is wrong with me?!".

He hoped no one would be able to hear him right now... but either way, he couldn't stop himself. Couldn't stop from being horrifically mad at himself. He nearly yanked chunks of his hair out, opting instead to throwing his coat across the room.

"Why... Why do I do this? Why am I so mean to him? Why do I say the opposite of what I want to say, every time? He'll never like me. You're such a fuck up! God, dad was right about me...".

Dabi would cry, if he could. He tried to resist crying now, since it only came out as blood. It might not be painful, but it was a pain in the ass to clean up.

He stopped himself from doing so, but Dabi was so upset. He didn't understand how he couldn't convey his emotions. He didn't know how to stop being an asshole, and actually say something nice for once.

He wasn't doing it on purpose. Oh no, no, no. He wasn't doing the 'be mean to keep them keen' technique. Fuck that.

Every time he opened his mouth to compliment Tomura, he'd panic. And somehow, out came insults instead.

He didn't get why. He knew he said it so that Tomura wouldn't find out... but at the same time, he wanted to flirt, but it was like he wouldn't let himself.

He was conflicted, and his brain was fighting with itself over what he wanted, and what he should do.

But the thing was, Dabi thought he'd fucked up too much anyway, for any good outcome to happen. He'd been far too mean to Tomura, too many times. There was no way he was going to want Dabi, now. He'd been way too shitty for his boss to have any interest. Dabi realised he should just give up...

However, before he was about to flop into bed, he heard a weird noise at the side of him. He looked in the direction of the sound, and saw a letter had been shoved down, underneath his door and into his room. The goth raised an eyebrow, not understanding what kind of prank this could be.

"Uh, hello?", Dabi called, as he opened his door to see who had done it... but no one was there.

He grumbled, but shrugged and closed the door, realising he'd probably find out what was going on if he just read the letter. He thought it might be Toga arranging some kind of get-together night, but he couldn't be more wrong.

He opened it up, and began to read... and his eyes expanded at what he was seeing in front of him.

"Hey Dabi. I know once you see this, you'll probably run to my room and scream at me. Or find some way to tell me I'm an idiot, gross, and to fuck off. But I can't take this anymore. I have to tell you what's on my mind, even if it pisses you off".

Oh... this was from Tomura. He could just immediately tell, from what was said, the tone... and the messy as fuck handwriting.

But Dabi was actually very good at reading things- even things that seemed incomprehensible. His heart sped up just from the anticipation alone.

"You were right. I did hesitate when we were talking before. Because it's true. Toga is right. I do want to kiss you. I feel as if that's the only way the fighting will stop. Instead of using mean words, we should take out frustrations in other ways. Perhaps. I have no idea how you feel, or what way you'd want to do this. I just want you... in whatever way. I'd literally be happy with anything".

Dabi had to stop himself from screaming. His breathing got heavier and heavier, every time he read a sentence.

No... no way. Tomura did like him? He hadn't fucked it up? What universe was he in?!

"Just guessing from what the other members say, and how they react when we argue, I'd like to hope you feel the same way. Sometimes I see you looking at me like you want me. And I sometimes catch you blushing. I just hope I'm not reading it wrong...".

'No, you're not! Oh, you clever, beautiful man... Able to pick up such subtle things like that. Or maybe I was never being subtle... who knows. But fuck... fuck! YES!', Dabi thought, his smile expanding by the second, stretching his staples.

"I've wanted you for a while now... and I do want to take Toga's advice. If you do feel the same way, please come and meet me out the back, at the alleyway at 10pm tomorrow. I hope I'll see you there...".

"Oh my God... I'll be there! Oh my fuck", Dabi wailed in happiness, unable to hold it back anymore, red beginning to stream down his cheeks.

"If not... then, just leave it. Throw this away. Please don't confront me. I'd rather that be my rejection than you coming to argue with me. It would just hurt less this way. Thanks".

"I won't hurt you ever again...", Dabi whispered to himself, putting the letter carefully onto his desk, before flopping back onto his bed, his smile unable to get any bigger.

He wanted to scream with happiness, but he didn't want to alert anyone. He couldn't believe this was happening.

For once in his life, he hadn't fucked up. Despite being a cruel asshole, Tomura hadn't been completely put off, and decided to risk confessing his feelings.

Dabi was elated.

He thought after everything he'd done, Tomura wouldn't dare risk it. But it seemed he underestimated him- and he was glad he had. It's another reason why Dabi liked him so much. Tomura was so much braver than anyone could ever perceive.

It made Dabi giggle. Tomura was the best. It was all the more proof that they were just made for each other. He couldn't wait for tomorrow. He was going to rock his boss' world...

-----

The two men had been right about one thing. The tension in the air during the day, leading up to their meeting, was tense. It was thicker than ever. And everyone noticed it.

Both of them seemed to fall for the little setup... they didn't ask around, or question what had happened. They completely believed that the letters had been from one another, and neither men suspected it could have been a plan from anyone else.

Everything was working so far, to the relief of the rest of the League.

Tomura and Dabi would look at each other all day, with glances that could only be described as full of want. They'd look at each other from across rooms, and stare for too long.

Or when they'd make eye contact, they'd blush and turn their heads away. But that was only at the start of the day. As the day went on, they'd purposely do things to test each other, to see if neither of them had changed their minds.

Tomura would sit really close to Dabi, and Dabi wouldn't protest- smiling at him lovingly when he did so. Dabi would brush their hips together, causing Tomura to shiver. Tomura would make Dabi some food, and for the first time ever, Dabi actually accepted it.

The biggest thing that happened, just a couple of hours before they were meant to have their meetup, was that Tomura accidentally tripped over a cable, and Dabi was the one to act fast, jump up from where he was sat close to the scene, and catch him.

Without Dabi's intervention, Tomura might have fell flat on his face, and may have decayed half the floor, as he'd forgotten to wear his gloves. He picked the young leader back up, but still continued to hold him by the hips afterwards.

"Hey, careful... could have really hurt yourself", Dabi smiled at him.

"I-It's my fault anyway, I-I have too much shit around... I know you hate that, I'm sorry...", Tomura stammered.

"Tch, I couldn't hate something if it had anything to do with you...", Dabi said to him, and then winked.

Yeah, real smooth.

It was certainly enough for Tomura, though. He burst into a fit of bright red all over his face, like he'd been set on fire. He squeaked, and pushed himself from Dabi's grip. So embarrassed and flustered, he fled the scene as fast as he could.

But Dabi could tell from that scene alone, that Tomura's words from his letter had been sincere, and couldn't wait until 10pm finally arrived...

When it would arrive, the League had a plan. They wanted to watch what went down, after all. They'd chosen the back ally for their meeting for a reason.

There was a window in Toga's room that overlooked it. They all gathered there just some time before it was all meant to happen.

10pm struck, and they all peaked the best they could out of the window to see what was going to happen, without being spotted. It happened down the alleyway, a little to the left of their vision. They tried to keep a low profile as possible.

To their amazement, Dabi was already there. Despite never being reliable or punctual before, it seemed this was so important to him, that he decided to be early. He was leaning against the back wall, staring at his phone, tapping his foot almost frantically.

He seemed impatient... and nervous. People could see he was also swaying from time to time, and biting his lip. Luckily, Dabi didn't have too long to wait for Tomura.

Just a minute later, said man could be seen walking down the alleyway towards Dabi. And Dabi heard him immediately, perking up, putting his phone away. He watched the younger man walk towards him like a hawk.

If Dabi looked nervous, then Tomura looked terrified. He had his hood up, but everyone could tell from his body language that Tomura's anxiety was through the roof.

He slowly walked towards Dabi, very tense. He looked like he could run away- bolt at any moment. They were all crossing their fingers that this would go well...

They opened the window, just a crack. They wouldn't be able to tell what they were saying very well, but they wanted to at least see or hear if it went okay, and if they actually confessed their feelings.

"Hey", Dabi greeted him as Tomura finally got close enough.

Seemed to everyone that he wouldn't be running away after all.

"H-Hi...", he stammered back.

Tomura brushed hair away from his face, and behind his ear. Dabi smiled sweetly, getting closer to his boss.

"S-Sorry I'm a little late... I-I... I was just... I'm... uh...", Tomura stumbled over his words, shaking a little.

"Nervous?", Dabi asked.

"Yeah...".

"Well... no need to be. I'm here... aren't I? And so are you...", Dabi smirked.

"Yeah... Just... uhmm...".

There was tension in the air once again. Thick like a creamy soup. It was at its thickest point. Everything ready to come to a boiling point...

Dabi made the first move. He pushed Tomura's hood back to reveal his whole face. Tomura was bright red, and his eyes were glimmering. Dabi let out a little huff of amusement, before pushing more of Tomura's hair back.

Tomura was shy, and touch-starved. So just something as simple as this had him shivering, and leaning in for more. Dabi just stared at him for a moment, with a loving gaze- like Tomura was the prettiest, and most precious thing in the world to him.

"You're so beautiful...", were the words that finally left the older man's lips, and Tomura's jaw hit the floor.

"I know what I said before... but I never meant any of it. I'm so sorry if I made you feel unattractive. It was all a lie. I promise, from here on out, I'll do all in my power to always make you feel so fucking beautiful-".

Whatever Dabi could have said afterwards was cut off. Tomura finally gained enough confidence to take action.

He jumped up, wrapping his arms around Dabi's neck (thankfully he'd remembered to wear his gloves) and went in for their first kiss.

Their lips smashed together harshly, and awkwardly. Tomura not knowing what he was doing at all, but he did have a lot of enthusiasm.

Dabi's eyes just bulged from surprise for a moment, before he smiled into the kiss. He went to hold Tomura's hips, before pressing into the kiss a little more.

He brought Tomura closer, as their lips locked together a little more smoothly. Not disturbed by Tomura's lip texture at all, Dabi applied more pressure, and there was a little smooching sound from the action.

Tomura made a cute little noise in the back of his throat, something along the lines of a happy whimper- almost as if he was about to cry with joy, and Dabi's heart leapt from hearing it.

Of course, the rest of the League were currently watching this display. Toga had to have many hands slapped against her face so that she didn't scream. Same with Twice of course. The rest of them watching with massive smiles on their faces.

Fucking finally. The plan had worked, and the two men were kissing. They expected it to stop there, but it didn't. The kiss deepened afterwards, Dabi turning his head to get a better angle.

Tomura allowed it, becoming more eager than ever. Their lips slotted together and opened a little, allowing them to suck on each other's lips. The League member's jaws dropped all simultaneously.

Tomura moaned, and Dabi bit his lip softly, making him open his mouth more. Dabi took advantage, and slipped his tongue inside softly. Tomura didn't protest, allowing him inside.

Tomura had his gloves on, so he tangled his fingers into Dabi's messy, spiky locks of hair, not caring about the massive amounts of gel and spray in it. It made the older male snap, becoming feral, pushing Tomura back against the alleyway wall.

The young leader gasped, but again, he didn't stop Dabi. Their tongues began to intertwine passionately, Dabi groaning along with Tomura. Their faces were flushed, and the kiss was so intense, people had to cover Toga's eyes.

Hands explored each other's bodies, loud sucking and kissing noises echoed down the ally. They couldn't get enough of each other- they'd been waiting far too long for this.

All the tension and pining had come to a head, and this kiss showed the result. Taking it all out, all the aggression, all of the want and need.

It lasted for so much longer than the League ever expected it to. It was when Dabi began to grind into Tomura, that Tomura decided to break it. He pushed Dabi off, panting, completely out of breath.

"I... I need to... stop. I-I'm not ready for that...", Tomura told him.

"S-Sorry... I just. I've been wanting you for so long...", Dabi panted.

"I-I know... I know that now. Me too... Just, maybe more... another time. We gotta talk this out more...", Tomura said.

"Yeah... but not like you need to explain much. You said it all in that letter, after all", Dabi beamed.

In that moment, the League heard what was said... and they knew that what would come next, would be extremely awkward...

Tomura's face twisted into intense confusion immediately, looking at Dabi like he'd been slapped.

"What... are you talking about...? It was you that sent me a letter...".

Then, Dabi's face twisted into the exact same expression, taking a step backwards from shock.

"What?! No I didn't! You did!".

"I did not! I got one from you!".

"Tomura, I swear, I did not send you a letter".

"And I swear I didn't send you one either!".

"Huh...? You mean to say, we both received a letter from each other, that we didn't actually write?", Dabi asked.

"It... would seem that way, yes".

"The fuck...? Did it tell you to meet me down here at 10?", Dabi questioned.

"Yeah...".

Then, a few seconds later, lightbulbs lit up in their heads. The penny dropped, and everything made sense.

"Those... fuckers!", Dabi snapped, stepping away from Tomura, nearly ripping his hair out.

"I'm gonna decay every single one of them...", Tomura snarled.

"Are we like, idiots? We got set up? And fell for it?! Like fucking teenagers!", Dabi yelled.

"Apparently, we did...".

"SORRY!", the two men then heard Toga shout, and their heads snapped down the alleyway, and then up.

They saw her peeking out of a window, and the rest of the League were with her.

"YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!", Dabi shouted at the top of his lungs.

"You guys did this?!", Tomura gasped.

"Yeaaaah, we couldn't take it anymore! We had to step in! I overheard Dabi being super mean to you. That was the last straw! We all knew what was going on, and couldn't allow it to continue. You guys like each other, see?! It worked!", Toga giggled.

"You little brat, you shouldn't force people-!", Dabi raged, but then Tomura took a stance, and put his hand on the other man's chest.

"Leave it... I think she was right to do this", Tomura said.

"What...?".

"If she hadn't... I never would have said anything to you. And you wouldn't have said anything to me, I don't think. I... I realise now... that I would have been heartbroken forever... if she didn't do anything".

Dabi's face softened. He sighed, and looked down to the floor. He looked rather sad, and almost guilty, as he wrapped his arms around himself.

"Maybe you're right. I don't think... I would have had the balls. I thought I fucked everything up too much. I thought... you'd never like me back after everything I'd done", Dabi admitted.

"And I gave up any hope of you ever liking me back, due to the way you treated me. See? I realise now, after thinking for a moment, that they all did something good. They did it for us...".

"Yeah...", Dabi sighed, unable to deny it.

"Yay! See, see! You're welcommmeeee~!", Toga sang.

"Fuck off!", Dabi snapped, still a little embarrassed, flipping her off.

All she did was giggle, the rest of the League sounding elated, as they retreated, closing the window, leaving the two men to it.

"Come on... let's go inside. We can talk about it more back in my room", Tomura suggested.

"Yeah... that sounds good".

-----

The rest of the League, minus Kurogiri, had run off before the two of them even managed to get inside. They did not want to feel their wrath it would seem, and also they wanted to give the two men their alone time together.

Tomura and Dabi went to go and get both of the fake letters that they had 'received from one another', decided to stay in Tomura's room, and read them out to each other. And afterwards, they collapsed onto Tomura's bed next to each other, staring at the ceiling for a good while, in total shock.

"Those sons of bitches...", Dabi spoke up first, and Tomura chocked on his giggle.

"They... definitely are very in tune, aren't they?", the young leader chuckled.

"It's like they're all fucking psychic or something!", Dabi almost yelled.

"I guess Toga doesn't call herself a love expert for nothing...", Tomura sighed.

"They... they knew exactly how we felt about each other, down to every fucking letter! How? How did they read us so well?!", Dabi practically screeched.

"I have no idea... but, hey. Does it matter? We're here now... they did something good for us. We wouldn't have been able to get together without them...", Tomura pointed out.

"I... I guess you're right. I don't even understand how you can forgive me, or even want me, after what I did and said...", Dabi sighed.

"Tch, I don't even have to explain anymore. I wanted you pretty much from day 1. Regretted nearly killing you that same day, the day we met. You have so much more to you than being mean sometimes...", Tomura explained.

"I won't be mean anymore, I promise...", Dabi vowed, and leaned over to kiss Tomura on the cheek.

"That's gonna be hard to get used to!", Tomura giggled.

"Better get used to it, quick... baby. Get used to me calling you cute, and pretty, and beautiful, and sexy-".

"Okay!", Tomura screeched, jumping up, going bright red.

Dabi laughed, and sat up, going in to hug his new boyfriend from behind.

"I'm gonna stay here tonight, hope ya don't mind. You have a better bed anyway".

"That's the only reason, huh?", Tomura scoffed.

"Nah", Dabi smiled, pulling Tomura back down, making him squeak.

"Doubt I'll wanna sleep anywhere else besides next to you, anymore...".

Tomura blushed again.

This was so strange. Dabi, being nice to him. Actually being honest. This felt like it was a dream.

He sighed happily, and curled up into Dabi's chest. He snuggled himself there for a bit, content and happy. Until he spoke up about something.

"Despite it being fake, I think I wanna keep your letter...".

"Hm? Oh, yeah... I'll keep mine too. It'll be a happy memory, I think...".

"Also a reminder that it was the League that helped us. To remind me that they're the closest thing to family I'll ever have. That I owe them, and that they matter to me. I won't ever let anyone hurt them...".

"Oh yeah... very true. Also a reminder of how you feel, despite it not being from you. Since the words are literally exactly the same things you've always been wanting to say to me".

"Yeah, same with yours! This was amazing and crazy. We have to find some way to thank them, when they get back...", Tomura pondered.

"Just don't make me cook anything. I'm shit at it".

"Because you try to cook everything with your quirk, and just burn everything down?", Tomura snickered.

"No, you little shit! I just never learnt how to!", Dabi scoffed, and Tomura just laughed harder.

"How come you never learnt?", Tomura asked.

"I think there's a lot we're going to learn about each other from here on out. Let's get started, shall we? My childhood is a shit show- you've been warned".

"Ha! I hardly even remember mine!", Tomura laughed.

"Wait, what? How come?", Dabi asked.

"No idea, but I think I have some kind of trauma related amnesia".

"So like, your entire childhood is like one big, repressed memory?", Dabi asked.

"Seems that way. I can only remember things after I met Sensei- but I was 5, so I still have most of my childhood I can talk about. I have a funny feeling I like dogs for an unknown reason, though", Tomura explained.

"Possibly a subconscious memory coming through. You might have owned one as a pet".

"Who knows? But come on... tell me about yours".

"Urgh, strap in, babe...", Dabi warned.

And that was the night that Tomura learnt everything. Who Dabi was, and why he was there. Tomura didn't have much to give back- all his life had been training and learning to hate. But Dabi's life was the most horrific, tragic thing Tomura had ever heard.

Just to make him feel better at the end, Tomura promised Dabi would be made leader of the big mission that would be coming up soon. Also, he would gift Dabi his own Nomu, and basically give him anything he'd want in the future.

He wanted to give Dabi the world, after everything he'd heard...

And honestly, Dabi wanted to do the same to Tomura. He told him as much. How he adored him, and would follow him anywhere. Follow him until the end of all of this. Stay by his side, no matter what.

How they'd plan to take down the heroes together, by each other's sides, always.

They would never forget the kindness of the League. How if it wasn't for them, none of this would have been possible. If not for them, Tomura and Dabi would be pining forever.

They made sure they got a reward for this. They had done something amazing, and the two men knew they'd hardly ever be able to express their gratitude. Not as much as they'd like, anyway. It seemed impossible.

But the two of them kept the letters... and would keep them, for as long as possible. They were set up, like teenagers, in high school, or college. But considering their backgrounds, they'd needed something like this.

They knew they'd never forget this. As time went on, they realised... they wouldn't have wanted to get together in any other way.
