Chapter Text

Form DEC2221M00N

Form for the creation of a new ■■■■■ ■■■■

Have you found ■ ■■■ ■■■■■?

April 10, 2024

This was supposed to be a permit form, but I guess I'm using it as a journal right now. It's just as well, I never finished the permit form anyway.

I'm not sure where to start. I guess at the beginning? My name is Grian. I live on Hermitcraft. I still do, I suppose? It's a little confusing at the moment.

It all started the other day when I was doing some work in my permit office. I had made the basement into a room inspired by the backrooms. I thought it would be a funny joke, especially since the permit office already fills everyone with dread. Might as well fill them with existential horror as well.

The backrooms have always interested me. This isn't the first time I've made something like this. It's almost my signature move at this point. So I thought it would be fun to try and clip into the real backrooms.

I didn't think they were real. It was all just a silly meme. I just like to try stupid things. I mean I caught 9,000 fish trying to get a mending book. I immediately click upon any button I see. I'm persistent and impulsive. Exactly the kind of person who would try to get into the backrooms, I guess.

In my own self created backrooms, I started to experiment. Once before, I was challenged to enter a vault without breaking blocks. I tried things that I had tried back then. Chorus fruit, throwing ender pearls at the corners. Flying directly into the wall. Nothing happened. I don't know what I expected, really.

But I am still persistent and impulsive. So I tried one last thing. I set up a piston above me and hooked it up with redstone. I thought this would clip me into the floor. However, it didn't do that. I just went into crawl mode. I realized this was all so stupid, so I was going to call it quits. That's when I actually clipped out of reality.

I'm not sure what happened. I found myself falling through the floor. It wasn't like spectator mode where you can fly through blocks and you have no form. I still had my body, but I was falling through the floor anyway. It was like I was sinking into something far denser than water. A very gross feeling! I'm really not sure what happened after that, because once my head went under I lost consciousness.

When I woke up my face was pressed against the carpet. It smelled musty and old. It wasn't unclean though. I sat up, looking around and trying to get my bearings straight.

There were walls covered in pale yellow wallpaper. The design was so indistinct, your eyes practically roll right off it, like it's not meant to capture your gaze for long. There was a very musty scent, like this was a building that isn't used much. There were no doors, at least from what I could see. The ceiling of the room I found myself in was plain white. Although I was pretty sure I fell through the floor, there was no sign of entry on the ceiling. Did I really fall through it?

It was also quiet. Even at my permit office, I can hear things. Chickens outside. My communicator beeping. A goat horn blowing. Even the wind makes a sound. I heard nothing. It's unsettling.

I started walking around, calling out for the other Hermits. I had an inkling that this might be a prank! Wishful thinking! Right? I mean, the backrooms can't be real. They must be pranking me for making the permit office or something.

I'm really scared now.

I wandered from room to room, but it never seemed to end. The rooms didn't even change that much, aside from occasionally having different carpet or wallpaper. This felt like too much work for a prank. I mean, I'm certain I walked far enough to hit the world border, but there was no border.

I tried to check my communicator to see if I was near a border, but it didn't work. My whole communicator wouldn't connect to the server, it kept showing me error messages. I was concerned to say the least. Even when I was stuck in the void after the moon fell in season 8 I was still able to use my communicator. This was the first time I ever saw it offline.

That's what really scares me. This can't be a prank. The Hermits wouldn't cut off my communicator. They would never ever do that. Pranks are supposed to be fun and funny. Cutting me off and leaving me stranded isn't funny nor is it fun. No one would do that to me.

Unless…

Well actually let's not think about that.

After I realized my communicator wasn't working I got desperate. I tried to break the walls down, but it was like I was in adventure mode. I could hit the blocks but there was no sign of them breaking. I probably could if I kept at it, but it made my hands hurt. I tried to fly up, but I just hit the ceiling too hard. I lost a couple of hearts, but I definitely can't fly back up that way. I don't even know which room I came from anymore, but I doubt I could fly through the ceiling anywhere.

I'm taking a break from trying to escape now. I'm really scared of this situation, this is seriously the backrooms. I can access my inventory, but I don't have any of my items except for this old permit form that I turned into a journal. I'm hungry and down some hearts, so it's not exactly looking great. I'm also scared of what might happen if I starve or otherwise die here. I'm not connected to a server… so can I respawn? I don't know.

I guess that's why I'm writing this. If I do end up lost forever… well someone might find this. At least something of me will be left behind?

I don't want to think about that. I'm going to try to sleep now.

-Grian

Notes:

I don't know much about the "lore" of the backrooms. We are following my lore now so don't expect anything and let's have fun.

I'm going to try to update this daily with somewhat shorter updates to help me get back into my writing groove!
