“I don’t hear anything,” Light said. His hold on L’s wrist had begun to slip as the constant bombardment of water loosened his fingers, but he refused to let go.
“Really?” L turned to him, shifting on the precarious edge until his heels weren’t quite entirely on the roof anymore. Light swallowed around the tightness in his throat. “It’s been ringing all day. I find it…very distracting.”

After the capture of Higuchi and the return of Light's memories, he's confident that there's nothing left between him and a perfect checkmate win. But when the rain picks up, and Light finds himself wandering to the roof, he quickly realizes that L will never let it be that simple.
