Luz sat alone in her bedroom staring at the wall. Thinking of Amity had kept her up all night, making her heart beat too fast to fall asleep as she missed her girlfriend. She held her breath and closed her eyes, trying to force herself to sleep and dream of Amity. She was 2000 light years away at the moment, and not just metaphorically; as it turns out, the Boiling Isles wasn't an alternate universe as Luz had initially thought, but an exoplanet in the same universe as Earth. Amity and her dad had built an observatory, and they just so happened to spot Earth through their telescope, and measured it to be at that distance.
Giving up on trying to fall asleep, Luz went and sat outside to watch the sunrise. She looked out as far as she could, but couldn't see her girlfriend, though she did hear some children laughing in the nearby park. Suddenly, the purple-haired witch sat down beside her, having come through the portal, and they laughed together at Luz's surprised reaction.
"Couldn't sleep again, batata?"
Luz nodded. She held her breath and close her eyes, then released the breath and fell asleep dreaming of the woman whose lap she was now laying on as if she was still 2000 light years away.
