It was his mother chasing him around after all. Why should Lumine be involved in his family problems? Him being returned to his mother’s custody was something he deeply hoped he’d be able to avoid, sure, but knowing his mother, if – or likely, when she caught them, she’d probably have Lumine sold or killed for making her life harder as soon as possible. The werewolf was risking his life to help him dodge something that was dreadful, but not deadly.
