“Sure could,” Iruma muttered, letting out a little scoff. “Could kill you even. Bet you wouldn’t be able to fight me off, babysitter girl.”
Interesting choice in nickname. And also: factually incorrect. From her position, Harukawa could see seven different ways to incapacitate Iruma, and that was without moving from her spot.
She shifted her weight. If Iruma attacked her, she would obviously defend herself… But the idea of killing to escape made her nauseous. The orphanage, inevitably, would find a way to proceed without her. More than likely, one of the older kids would be chosen to replace her, and Harukawa couldn’t stand the thought of that—but the thought of killing someone without being under orders made her feel worse. Her hands curled at her sides. She hated being indecisive. Truthfully, it had been so long since Harukawa was truly acting under her own will, she had no idea what to move.
She wouldn’t, however, kill Iruma.
