Summary
Months after helping Yashiki discover his identity and locate the source of the Death Marks, Mashita begrudgingly has accepted a new case he needs Yashiki's assistance on. It initially doesn't seem too different from their past spirit investigations, but nightmares Mashita hasn't had for a long time suddenly return, and the case seems inexplicably linked to his deceased partner on the force. The two men must get to the bottom of this mystery without dying gruesomely or going insane. Oh, and complicating things, they're boyfriends now, and this spirit has a predilection for couples...
Takes place after Death Mark and contains endgame spoilers for that game, but before/instead of Death Mark II so no spoilers for that. (Setting originally imagined to be October 1994, which would overlap Death Mark II, but left ambiguous.) Knowledge of Spirit Hunter: NG not required, no spoilers for that either.
Prepare for mood whiplash as this story switches between sweet romance and violent horror quickly and often. Contains disturbing imagery (all text, no pictures), gory scenes, characters dealing with trauma, and basically any trigger a Spirit Hunter game would contain. (However, there is no sexual violence/abuse.)
