Work Text:
Grian stood in front of the window, watching the world crumble before him as the fire was rising. The smoke was in the air, buildings began to crumble, shaking the earth as bits of meteor fell from the sky landing onto their city. He watches, standing still. There was no point in leaving. He just stared at the horizon, as 50s music played in the background, a soft jazzy melodic tune played, almost loud enough that the explosions booming away could be muffled. He hears a voice behind him, but he doesn't turn. He already knows who it was.
Scar slowly approaches him from behind. "Lovely view, isn't it?" Scar said, as he looked over at the burning city.
"It is.." Grian mutters softly, letting out a small sigh as he watches the view of the destruction happening before him. The flames burned brighter as the embers and smoke danced together in the air. The buildings before them slowly crumbled and fell as the bombs continued to fly down from the sky. It was a beautiful yet tragic scene to watch.
As the music plays and runs in the background, Grian slowly glances at Scar, a thoughtful hum escaping him. "I'm surprised you came back here.. You know there was still one more room in the helicopter.." Grian spoke softly, eyes turning back at the destruction.
"I wasn't going to miss the opportunity to watch this with you." Scar said, as he stepped closer to stand by him. "The opportunity to watch the end of the world with my best friend.. I couldn't miss it." Scar said, as he stood by his side.
"..." Grian looks at Scar who was now standing beside him. He smiled before he slowly reached for Scar's hand, holding it as they watched the world burn together. "Mm... It is quite the scenery..." He says, the music playing a sweet jazz melody.
"Quite beautiful in a way.." Scar responds, he grips his hand slightly as he glances at their intertwined hands. It didn't matter much anymore, as the end was already happening. Nothing they could do would stop it.
Grian chuckles as he nods. "It really is..." He murmurs. Grian weighs his options for a moment before he comes to terms with himself. He's got nothing else to lose anyways. "...Care for a dance perhaps?" He asks, looking at Scar.
Scar smiled as a faint blush rose upon his cheeks, they both had nothing to lose from this, might as well make the last minutes count. The song was soft and relaxing, one of their favorites, the world could end for them but they could still dance in the last moments. "I'm not much of a dancer... but I don't mind.. if it's with you." He responded, as he slowly took his hand gently.
"It'll be fine." Grian says, slowly moving to place a hand on Scar's shoulder, his other hand holding Scar's own. The music plays in the background, the explosions seem like they were muffled by the sounds of their heartbeats as they slowly danced together with the world crumbling before them. "..You know, I've always wanted to slow dance like this..." He whispers, his voice small and quiet.
"I've always wanted to do this with you too..." Scar said softly, he smiled as the two of them slowly danced together, despite the end of the world being right before them, they still had the last minutes of life together to dance.. to just spend it together. Their heartbeats were muffled by the sounds of the explosions, the music was louder than their hearts now. "I'm glad we could... spend this time together." Scar said softly. He smiled, as he held his gaze... with the end so close, it didn't matter now.
"...I'm glad too..." He whispers, leaning his head onto Scar's chest as they slowly swayed together. It was romantic, tragic, it was like they were in a movie.
Grian held onto Scar a bit tighter as they moved slowly. The explosions sounded like they were getting closer and closer as they held each other. "Scar...?"
He was silent for a few moments, just slowly swaying back and forward with him.. watching the destruction around them. As the explosions grew louder, their time was coming to an end... and he would spend it with him.
Eventually.. he spoke up, his voice quiet. "..Yes?"
Grian was hesitant, but he finally looked back up at him with a soft gaze and a sad smile as he slowly spoke. "Kiss me..?" He whispered, his heart pounding in his chest.
Scar’s heart skipped a beat as he heard his soft words, as he slowly looked over at him... the world was ending, the destruction was all around them but he didn't care, it didn't matter... he could kiss him...
Slowly he leaned forward, bringing his face closer to him.. then their lips touched, his body was shaking now... their last moments, being spent with each other.. in a kiss.. in their last moments before it all ends..
Grian kisses back, his arms moving slowly to wrap around Scar's neck, clinging onto the other like a lifeline. His eyes closed as he held onto the other. The fire burned brighter, the explosions and destruction roared louder in the distance. The two held each other close. The destruction got louder and louder, everything around them crumbling with a bang and smoke rising in the air, yet the kiss didn't stop. It continued as the music played, as they danced and kissed in their last moments... everything was ending around them but they had each other for one last intimate and romantic moment. For their last moments.. that was all that mattered.. their end together. A slow, calm and intimate moment.
Grian slowly pulls away from the kiss. There were tears streaming from his face as he looked at Scar with a wide smile. "...I love you, Scar.." He murmurs, finally letting his feelings out for his friend. His heart pounding loudly as the explosions get closer and closer.
Scar slowly pulled away from the kiss, looking over at him with tears in his own eyes. He smiled softly, wiping away the tears. His heartbeat was loud... the explosions getting louder and louder.. it was almost the end for them... but he was okay... It was with Grian.. that's what mattered to him now... the end with his.. "I love you too..." The words were choked up in his throat but he managed to speak, he smiled and nodded, the two of them.. spending their last moments together.. holding each other.. in each other's arms.
Grian smiled, kissing Scar for the last time.
The last thing that Grian ever felt was the soft and chapped lips against his before everything went dark.
The only regret he had was confessing his love a little too late, wishing that he had done more with Scar.
