Work Text:
Camelot’s men stand where the ground begins to low, outnumbered, their foes facing them from above. There, at their right side, where they are most vulnerable, along with the less experienced men, stands Prince Arthur, brave, never faltering, never doubting the courage of his men, a beacon of hope for all of them.
Merlin wishes he could close his eyes and not see the men falling and bleeding, maimed, and that he could cover his ears so as not to hear the cries and whimpers. But then, he would lose sight of Arthur, and that is something that cannot happen.
