Chapter Text
The sun's rays illuminated the entire region of Paldea, reaching every window on the land, including a small house on one of the hills of the territory.
From outside of one of the windows, you could see a shadow yawning, stretching her arms up. She was a morning person, at the first ray of light that touched her eyes, she would wake up.
After all, Geeta, being the Top champion of Paldea and the chairwoman of the Naranja Academy, the most important school in the land, she had many obligations to do and she took them seriously, so much so that even on Sunday, her supposed day off, she would go to work.
Geeta rubbed one of her eyes as she took a quick look around the room to awaken her vision a little, however, that look made her realize that she had woken up alone.
She looked strangely at the empty side of the bed, normally she always woke up with someone by her side, her married partner, Rika. They weren't ones to wake up early, it was quite the opposite, Geeta had to be the one to wake them up.
But there was no need to worry, because it was a matter of a few seconds for Geeta to realize why she was alone in bed, which made her sigh in relief.
Rika slipped into their little space at night, fortunately it had not been caused by any kind of stress, their mind had simply felt that way, so as usual in this situation, Rika slept in the home nursery.
As she got out of bed and went to grab the clothes she had prepared to get dressed today, some thoughts ran through her mind, should she have a bed for her at the nursery? She had thought about it before, although Rika didn't always wake up still in their little space when they slipped, sometimes they did, so if they woke up before her, they would get scared if they didn't see her, they were very clingy in that state.
She had to talk about it with Rika, that room was still for them to forget their problems or simply to enjoy, so any decision they made she would accept.
With more casual clothes on—a tank top with a Glimmora in the center, a pair of jeans, and some Gogoat slippers—she left the room on her way to the nursery.
When she entered the room she was greeted with darkness, Rika found the darkness relaxing, so Geeta made sure that when they went to sleep, the nursery would always be as dark as possible.
The champion could hear small snores coming from the room, when her indigo eyes adjusted to the darkness, she was able to confirm that, indeed, they were from Rika, who was still fast asleep in their crib.
With soft and calm steps she approached the crib, looking inside with a smile, she did not mind in any way doing this for Rika, if she were in their place, she knew that they would do the same. She loved them and they loved her, she trusted that was one of the great pillars of their marriage.
"Rika," Geeta whispered, as she stroked her partner's hair, "come on, wake up."
Small whines came out of the Elite Four member's mouth, they hugged the small Wooper plushie that they had in their arms even tighter.
Geeta began to gently rub two of her fingers on Rika's forehead, "come on, we have to get breakfast."
Slowly, the reddish eyes of the ground-type trainer began to open, this is where Geeta's day would be decided, if Rika was still in their little space it meant that in addition to working she would have to take care of them, it is not something that bothered her though.
When their eyes opened slowly, they looked at her with a tired expression, moments later a smile appeared on their face.
"Mama!"
The champion smiled at the nickname Rika had given her when they were in this state of mind, it meant that they trusted her enough and she appreciated it.
"Hello, beautiful, how did you sleep?" With one of her fingers, she gently bopped Rika's nose.
They squealed happily as they touched Geeta's hand with their own, happy to be close to their caregiver.
"That's fantastic, now," she placed one of her hands on Rika's back, the other on the back of their knees. It didn't require that much strength to carry them, since Rika's body was thin, "come, the first thing we need to do is change your cloths."
When she placed them on the changing table and turned on Clodsire's mobile that spun above the table to distract them, she went to the bedroom closet, where she grabbed new clothes—a shirt with Numel and a Turtwig, along with a pair of pants—and a diaper from one of the packages. With that in hand she returned to the Elite Four trainer, she undress and redress them with a practiced hand.
"There we go," she kissed Rika's forehead, earning a giggle from them, "now let's go to breakfast, we have a big day ahead of us."
Geeta took Rika in her arms again and headed out of the room, she began to think about what she would do for the day, there was no need to leave the house, she didn't have to visit the gyms nor visit the League building. She could stay and work in her personal office.
Which was perfect, if she was honest, she didn't really want to go out today, staying working on whatever she needed besides taking care of Rika sounded like a good idea.
They arrived at the living room, which was next to the kitchen, Geeta needed to cook not only Rika's food, but also hers.
"Mama!" Rika squealed happily when Geeta lowered them onto one of the sofas, they looked at her with a beautiful sparkle in their eyes.
Geeta took something from her pocket, one of her pokeballs, she opened it just by pressing the center button.
With a bluish light, a quadruped Pokémon was present in the room, with large horns and a bush on its neck.
"Goo," her beloved Gogoat yawned, shaking it's head a little so it could wake up faster.
"Gogo!" Rika squealed, stretching their arms towards the grass-type goat. They loved all of Geeta's Pokémon, but Gogoat was special, being the one who spent the most time with them, due to its size and low probability of danger.
Gogoat approached the ground-type trainer and nuzzled it's head against Rika's. They laughed.
"Gogo!"
Geeta smiled softly at the interaction of two members of her beloved family, then headed to the kitchen, trusting that Gogoat would keep Rika out of harm.
Nothing too complicated, was what she thought when she took out the breakfast ingredients, for Rika she only needed some of the Oran and Pecha berries from the refrigerator to make them baby food, for herself she decided to make some toast with the zidra berry jam that she had bought last week, Rika had always made fun of her for having a strange tongue, but she considered it more of a strong tongue.
She began to prepare breakfast, listening to Gogoat's neighing and Rika's laughter in the background, she enjoyed that, she felt that things like this reminded her that those she loved were safe.
"Gogoat," Geeta called a few minutes later, when everything was ready on a plate, "can you bring them here, please?"
Gogoat neighed at Geeta, obeying it's trainer's order by gently pushing Rika onto it's back, they squealed with a smile on their face, surprised but happy.
"Hey, precious," when Gogoat got close enough, Geeta took Rika into her arms, "what were you doing up there?" Geeta spoke with a playful tone.
"Mama!"
Leaving Rika on one of the chairs at the table, Geeta turned to Gogoat as she searched through her pocket.
"Dear Gogoat, take the others outside, please," she placed another seven pokeballs between the bush around the Pokémon's neck, "I'll go feed all of you your breakfast in a moment," Gogoat nodded, leaving the kitchen and heading towards one of the doors that led outside.
Her attention returned to Rika, she noticed that their eyes were fixed on her, nothing out of the ordinary, when they were in their little space they followed her like a Ducklett to a Swanna.
"Are you hungry, baby?" She took the bowl where she had placed the baby food and showed it to them, as if it were a toy that they should be excited about. She took a spoon, "Do you want to eat, love?"
Her voice sounded soft, it was the same voice Geeta had always used while Rika was regressing, outside of it Rika always mentioned how much they loved it.
Rika just looked at her with those red eyes, not really understanding her words but enjoying her company.
"Look, precious, look! Here comes the Flygon!" She moved the spoon a little so she could get their attention, she also made sure to open her mouth so they could imitate her.
Unfortunately for the champion, Rika only looked at the spoon, but did not open their mouth to eat, instead they giggled excitedly.
"Mama!" They exclaimed as they extended their arms towards Geeta.
She sighed with a smile, it seemed that today was one of those days.
"Mama is here, baby, but mama also needs you to eat, look! The Flygon is back," she repeated the same actions as before to get Rika's attention.
But they, although curious about the movement of the spoon, did not seem interested in eating, but instead reaffirmed the previous action by extended their arms towards Geeta again.
"Mama!"
She smiled, but she was more insecure now, she couldn't pick up Rika to feed them, not only could they choke if the food went the wrong way, but she didn't want to get them used to something that could go wrong.
Geeta thought a little about what she could do to try and distract them, until a brilliant idea ran through her mind.
She left the spoon on the table—but close enough to grab it later—and covered her entire face with her gloved hands, hiding it from Rika, who looked at her with big, confused reddish eyes.
Abruptly, she removed her hands from her face, showing a smile.
"Peek a boo!"
Rika looked at Geeta in surprise, it wasn't necessarily the first time they had seen her do the same trick, but in their mind it was.
The Paldea champion repeated the action.
"Peek a boo!"
Rika laughed out loud—what an adorable sight, Geeta thought—at seeing their caregiver play like that.
Now or never, the champion took the spoon placed it in their mouth, giving them a chance to taste the food.
Moments later she took out the spoon, now completely empty of the baby food, a good indication.
"Is it yummy, baby?"
They babbled with a small smile on their lips, swinging their legs up and down.
Geeta closed her eyes, showing a gentle smile.
She continued feeding her baby for a few more minutes, not forgetting to play with them, moving the spoon up and down.
Ring Ring.
Geeta looked at her forgotten Smartrotom on the table with a curious expression, who could be calling so early?
You have a call from Briar.
Oh well, there was the answer.
The Smartrotom flew to her ear, making the task of answering the call and feeding Rika were easy to do at the same time
"Hello, Briar?"
She was greeted by the other woman's enthusiastic voice.
"Good morning, La Primera, how did you wake up today?" She asked kindly.
Geeta took another spoonful of the baby food and directed it to Rika's mouth, "Pretty good, Briar, what about you?"
"I'm fine, thanks for asking," Briar replied, "I'm sorry for calling so early, La Primera, however, I wanted to know if you have the paperwork ready for the Area Zero investigation yet?"
Oh, that.
If she was honest, she had forgotten.
She had to take care of a lot of paperwork related to the Academy and the Pokémon League, add to that a whole permission process for the investigation of Area Zero... It wasn't the best combination.
"Be patient, Briar, I assure you that your permission is being processed, remember, these things take time," Geeta lied shamelessly, as she took another spoonful of the baby food and gave it to Rika. "However, I assure you that it will be ready soon."
She could hear Briar gave a defeated sigh.
"Okay, thank you very much, La Primera, I wouldn't want to rush this, it's just that, well, it's something very important to me." Her voice sounded more serious now, however, Geeta could still hear that hopeful tone.
The champion nodded, although it was an automatic action at the words, not because she expected Briar to see her.
She directed another spoonful of food towards Rika's lips when they began to babble again, wanting attention from their mama. She kissed their forehead to assure them that they had it.
"I understand, Briar, but like I said, these things take time, if I'm not mistaken you'll be taking a trip to the Unova region, right? Try to relax and I'll call you when everything is ready."
She received a small thank you from the other woman and that was how the little call ended.
Geeta returned her gaze to Rika, who was also looking at her with those big, curious eyes.
"Mm..." Geeta grimaced, "do you think it's too early to work, baby?" She asked in a playful tone.
Rika placed their thumb in their mouth and tilted their head, again they didn't understand mama's words, they only knew that her voice was pretty, so they really like listening to it.
"No, no, my love, come here," Geeta took her little one into her arms, who squealed happily when they were in her hold, "you know it's not good for you to put your thumb in your mouth. I'll tell you what, let's get your binky and then we're going to feed the Pokémon, how about that, precious?"
A big smile appeared on Rika's face, they could recognize the word binky and Pokémon, those words made them feel happy.
"That's a yes, then," Geeta chuckled, she kissed their forehead, "but before that I have to clean you, baby, you made a mess eating."
