Movie Night Gone Wrong

Summary:

Jackson and Exer have a movie night, it gets a little aggressive but in a fun sibling way!

(This is a side note, Exer and Jackson are half siblings in my au and only learned this recently! Will be writing other oneshots about the two!!)

Work Text:

Jackson flicked another kernel of popcorn into his mouth, leaning back into the plush of the couch while Exer, beside him, flicked through the channels on the TV.

The two were comfy in their pajamas, luckily covered by an abundance of blankets due to the colder weather settling in. Luckily, Exers house had great heating, but it didn’t always block out all the frigid coldness.

They were supposed to watch a horror movie, but it was decided that it looked much too cheesy, totally not for any other reasons.

It had become an occurrence for the two, meeting up every two weeks to have a proper sleepover and movie night. It had been Exers idea, most likely over guilt or sheer determination to get to know his half-brother.

It wasn’t all that bad, really. Only really when Exer couldn’t find something to watch, like now.

A groan of boredom beside him had Jackson rolling his eyes, “Come on, just pick something!” He replied, watching the screen lazily. The icon hovers over the image of a man with a knife, with the title screen reading ‘Scream.’

Unbeknownst to the brunette, the other was deadpanning right at him.

A popcorn kernel, only a second later, being thrown at the side of his head had Jackson glancing over and glaring at his brother, the other grinning mischievously as he reached for a handful.

A handful that would definitely end up buttering his hair and being a total bitch to clean.

“Oh, no you don’t!” Jackson immediately threw himself forward to grab at the bowl, knocking half of it out as he continued to grab at it. “Let go!” He complained, reaching up high now for it as Exer raised it above their heads.

"Awww, Jackie, can't reach the bowl?” Exer laughed as he backed away, holding the bowl a distance away as Jackson dove forward again. Each pair of hands grabbed a side of the bowl and pulled uselessly, one glaring annoyed while the others mischievously glee.

It was an absolute tug-of-war between both sides, pulling as hard as they could, not caring that the blankets had fallen to the floor, and at least one of them was sitting on the remote.

Finally, Jackson had the brilliant idea to just let go, watching as the rest of the popcorn flew straight into Exers face and lap, while the rest scattered all across the couch and floor.

A brilliant sight—yes, pure revenge.
And god, Jackson couldn’t help himself from laughing hard at the disbelief on the others face, Exer holding the empty bowl as his eyes slowly looked down at the mess.
“You should see your face!” He cackled, leaning backwards against the armrest of the couch, his hand brushing through his brunette hair to get rid of random popcorn pieces.

Until a cough was heard behind him.

Jackson, only able to look into Exers horrified expression, slowly turned around to see Harry staring down at the pair, hands on his hips with a raised eyebrow.
The man was still dressed in his own plaid pajamas, still wearing his slippers, as it was now obvious that the two had woken him up.

“Do I even have to say it?” He chided, glancing forward to see the entirety of the mess that the two had made. It was almost impressive, until he saw all the butter now staining the couch.

Pausing, Exer sighed from behind him before slowly getting up. Jackson hung his head before following after, already knowing they’d be wasting a Friday night on cleaning.

“And don’t forget to clean under the couch!” Harry called from a distance.
