Chapter Text
“Vergil…? Is that you?”
As the woman opened her eyes and adjusted her eyeglasses, she found herself floating in some kind of void.
“Eh? Where am I?”
It was dark but she could see a… star? A faint source of light from afar. And from it she heard him again.
“Wait, is that really you, Vergil? I can sense you but you sound like you have a cold or something.”
“Hmph. Let's see you rank this…”
“Haha, no, don’t be grumpy now, sorry.” She covered her mouth to hide her smile as if he would see her. But that was when her memories of what had happened last came back to her, causing her eyes to widen the same time her mirth disappeared.
“Oh my… How long has it been?” she wondered, before calling again, “Vergil? Are you still there? Your blood must have awakened me, but the witch said…” She bit her lip and looked down. “I’m sorry… I’m still stuck.”
“I wasn't playing with it. This… solves your problem.”
That somehow made her smile weakly. “You can’t even hear me, can you? You sound kinda younger though, what happened to you? Did the witch do some spell on you too? I hope you’re alright…”
She forced a smile, as though a habit to show him that there was nothing to worry about. “At least I can hear you from here. I’ll be fine this way…”
But that was until…
“Eh? Vergil? Wait…” And she continued hearing them. “There are two of you? What’s happening?— Yes, please, be the one to keep the book. But who’s the other one?”
"Show yourself."
“I can’t… I want to get out of here but I don't know how to.”
"Show. Yourself."
“Please don’t get mad at me… I really can’t. Even your blood didn’t work. I was hoping it would, because she said the blood of the owner. She didn’t know I made you the co-owner, but for some reason it still didn’t work…” She wiped her cheek but still forced a smile when she said, “I think I’m really stuck here forever.”
