Dorm Rules as Written by Aizawa Shouta

Summary:

With the implementations of the dorms, Aizawa Shouta is hopeful that he will be able to bond with his students. And maybe give them some sense of security that he never had growing up in the foster care system.

Nedzu bribes him with coffee, the dorms are a horrible idea, and he has no idea how he’s going to survive this class from hell.

Well, that is until one very specific problem child breaks down in his arms, and the rest of the class follows.

.

This fic will have a chapter for every student of 1a!

Notes:

This fanfic will bounce around a lot and while there will be a plot, the beginning will be heavily focused on getting to know each student.

Some chapters will have harder topics than others! Please keep that in mind and I hope you enjoy. <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

Shouta Aizawa honestly has zero idea how he ended up here, sitting in front of his boss presenting papers and drinking his fourth cup of coffee at barely eight in the morning. But here he was, with no out in sight.

“Aizawa-kun!” Nedzu grins and cocks his head. “How are you this morning?”

The hero just grunts.

“Well well, of course. You must be tired after these past few days.” The principal frowns.

Bakugou Katsuki had just been rescued two days prior, his time with the league sparked more media attention than anything else. Then of course there’s Midoriya and his ‘squad’ who went out there looking for a fight, everything had just been so busy lately…

“I have decided, with the input of the commision, to implement dormitories.” He tells eventually.

Shouta practically deadpans at him. “No.”

“No?” He’s taken aback.

“No.” He reiterates, “One,I don’t get paid nearly enough for that. Two-“ he pauses for just a moment, “20 turbulent teenagers after a stunt like this?!” He throws his hands out, “Absolutely not.” A huff of “And-“

Nedzu interrupts his next point, “There’s a thirty percent pay increase, your own separate room in the students dorm and a teachers dormitory. Oh- a stocked kitchen for the students. And you if you’d like-” He says, and then repeats himself, “And if you’d like, we can accommodate your room to fit Yamada as well.”

There’s a long wait before Shouta finally opens his mouth, “Can I bring the cat?”

“Yes.”

“And the kitchen?” A raised eyebrow.

That’s the exact moment the principal knew he’d succeeded. “I’ll keep it stocked at all times. With your favorite coffee as well.”

The clock ticks only twice. “Sold.”

.

While the dormitories are being constructed, Shouta is tasked with talking with parents. Yagi goes with him on the first day, Nemuri on the second, and Hizashi on the third. He had expected the most hesitancy with the Bakugou, seeing as it was their son who was kidnapped, but when they practically just handed him over, he hesitates. Are these parents really going to trust their teenage children to live away from home?

The rest of the permissions go relatively well. Yagi talks with the Midoriyas separately, but Shouta won’t complain seeing as he gets to take a short nap.

The dorms take barely three days to build, and the students are given four days to move everything in, a week total. On the second to last day, a Saturday, (which he would much rather be sleeping) Shouta sits in the common area. He offers for students to come to him if there are any problems or issues, and promises that he’ll be there everyday after school for the upcoming week.

“Don’t hesitate to come find me.” He tells them while sipping on a coffee, “Regardless of what the commission might think, you are all still children. And that means it’s going to take some adjustment to get everyone comfortable around here.”

“That being said, try and settle in. There are going to be a lot of changes happening and I want you all to know that-“ he rolls his eyes, “regardless of how cliche it might sound, this is a family.”

A few students scoff or laugh at that, others nod and hum. “My number is pinned to the refrigerator. Text me if you need anything.” He waves a hand at them, dismissing them to go do the room contest they had been screeching about previously.

He was fairly confident that no one would bother him. It wasn’t like he didn’t enjoy teaching, (he would not be there if he didn’t want to be) but he definitely wasn’t the most approachable teacher at UA. However, he would at least try to get the students to like him.

Maybe they’ll come around now that the dorms are in place.

(Oh the foreshadowing he just told)

.

When the students walk into class the following Monday, they seem nervous. Or maybe just tired, Shouta can’t tell.

Bakugou looks lost, Midoriya looks like he hasn’t slept, Todoroki is spaced out-

Those are just the first people he saw.

“Hurry up and sit down.” He orders and the class obeys.

Kaminari is zoned out, Shinsou is drumming his fingers against the desk, and Kirishima's tie isn’t tightened properly.

“I hope you all had a good first night at the dorms.” That wasn’t quite true, they had stayed in the days prior to school starting, but this was the first day back in class. “Remember that if you need anything, you are welcome to come to talk to me. Or another teacher if you aren’t comfortable speaking with me.”

No one seems to be alert, as if headphones had been placed over their ears and they couldn’t hear him.

“Homeroom this morning will just be a study period.” A few students perk up at that but others just place their heads down onto the desk in front of them. “Don’t get used to it though. Tomorrow we will hit it hard. And I can’t talk for the other teachers.”

Okay so maybe he threatened all the teachers in the lounge that morning to take it easy because something didn’t seem right, but they didn’t know that.

“Oh- and I’ll be in my office during lunch if anyone needs to, or even just wants to talk.” Shouta says as he locks eyes with a student, a silent message of ‘thank you’. “I’m taking a nap.” He then says before vanishing into his sleeping bag.

His eyes are barely closed when the class erupts into sound and laughter. And the more he thought, well, you know, maybe the dorms won’t be as bad as he thought.
